Wow I never thought about that, the comment about the food store stories coming out aroung recalls and elections is really something to think about. That really is a good point! The more I think about it the more it is true!

Commerce City PD should participate in the "Take it to the Track program"! They could race their little BMW Z3. We could finally beat Brighton and Denver at something at least.

Anonymous said...

Just got a phone call about the Possible King Soopers at 104th and Chambers. I have never wrote a commentary before in any kind of a newspaper or internet site, but for this I do want to say THANK YOU GOD!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Lets not all get crazy about the King Suopers. I was told about this many many times since I moved here 4 years ago. I have been reading the comments and I think it could be a diversion of the recent recall effort.

Anonymous said...

NO TO THE RECALL. ONLY GOING TO BRING THE WHOLE CITY DOWN. We are going to once again end up on the big news stations! We need to start looking forward and start being POSITIVE!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I say no to the recall effort. Developers and Economic Development will never come if everyone thinks that our city cant even deal with our own issues. I guess some residents are not happy unless their is some kind of crisis going on all of the time.

Anonymous said...

I just want the Douglas Family to know that there are lots of residents that have you guys in our prayers.

Anonymous said...

Recall Effort will scare away any kind of economic development that might be thinking of coming to the city. Of course we really didn't have anything come here anyway.
But still, I say no to the recall too.

Anonymous said...

Brighton couldn't buy the paper to annex Reunion.
They are in a major financial hurt. Yes they have retail, but they aren't getting any sales tax revenue from it.
They have no water either.
You don't get to "quick deed" an area from one city to another.
Get over it, you are part of Commerce City. Help build it up not tear it down!

Anonymous said...

Since everything seems to be anonymous ya can't tell who is setting up who.
The deversion for the recall, or "let down" of yes the King Soopers is coming, oh "no it's not gotta be the mayors fault"
There are set up's everywhere and rumors everywhere.

Anonymous said...

I happen to agree with the last comment, how can everything be the mayors fault, he is but one vote. As far as being anonymous, I feel much better about this, I can tell everyone my true feelings and do not have to put on a front, I dont think anyone is really setting anyone up, We all just have different opinions and I have to say this comment page has actually improved my mental health. I was able to say things on here that I could do in public. I Love It!!!!!!!

ps I think Commerce City should also participate in the Take it to the Track program.

Anonymous said...

No sign of Rene or group in the Northern area as of yet, I wonder if his plan is to acquire all of the signatures in the south part of the city.

Anonymous said...

too hot outside for recall, plus why are we recalling again?

Anonymous said...

I think the Mile High Music Festival is going on today and Sunday. I bet Benson and seat tax group wish they had their tax in place for these two days.

Anonymous said...

Just heard about the scooter issue in Commerce City. Basically, at this point, their is an issue of leagality. I am happy to hear that the City is working fast on this. With gas prices the way they are. Fast would be a good thing.

Hiekue number Two

Paul Natale under a Recall.
Why? Because he didn't bring us a mall?
Why? Because China recently has not called?
We need more reasons, don't we?
Or there will not be a recall at all.....

Thank You, Thank You, no please stop clapping.

Anonymous said...

I want to say a special Thank You to the City of Commerce City in the effort they put forward making Commerce City a support city for the United States military troops around the world, the City Council has approved a resolution declaring Commerce City “military family friendly.”

Anonymous said...

Mile High Music Festival looks like it is going pretty good. Wish we had something for these people as far as getting tax money from them.

Anonymous said...

Brighton Broke? But they already are leaps and bounds ahead of us here in Commerce City! As soon as the taxes start kicking in they will leave us in the dust. Lets look at one simple facts: Target in Stapleton (Denver), Target in Brighton (Prairie Center), Conclusion: Commerce City will never have a Target.

Anonymous said...

I don't want to sound stupid, but what is the difference between a boys and girls club and the Commerce City Recreation Center. I am 37 years old and grew up in a area that did not have a boys and girls club, but we did have a town Recreation Center. Can we maybe work with Kronke and maybe start a 1% tax and have that go to the Commerce City Recreation and start more programs there. It is already there and as far as I know is not running at full extent. I am willing to be wrong and educated about this subject.

Anonymous said...

First of all a boys and girls club focuses on just young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.

Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. They are truly The Positive Place For Kids.

Anonymous said...

I don't care about how we get a club here in Commerce City, I just want to have a good communication between whatever organization we work with. This seat tax is really not a good way of doing this. As far as the 1% tax, fine, as long as you talk with the kronke people and make sure it is a win win situation for everyone involved.

Anonymous said...

A boys and girls club are for kids that need a positive outlet for the time after school, when a great majority do not have any supervision. A city recreation center is designed for the entire community to enjoy and is sport focused. They are similiar but very different. Also a boys and girls club can be known for providing food for children, which can require a diferent type of facility.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America had its beginnings in 1860 with several women in Hartford, Conn. Believing that boys who roamed the streets should have a positive alternative, they organized the first Club. A cause was born.

I am new to this area and purchased a home near the golf course. I don’t know old Commerce City but from what co-workers tell it’s an industrial area that is majority a non English speaking illegal immigrant community. How does the city support that if there’s no money? Why isn’t there a recreation center for all of the teens that live in this area? It appears like the city is spending lots of money upgrading existing parks and recreational areas in the older area while doing nothing in the north. Let’s start redirecting our funds.

Anonymous said...

Well, the new north area is really not "liked" by a number of individuals in the Southern part of the city. As far as a hispanic population, yes there is a majority, but as far as them being "illegal" I am not sure about that. But wish someone could tell us more about how many residents in Commerce City are "Illegal".

Anonymous said...

Just got back from the Mile High Music Festival Day 1. Had a LOT of fun. Everything was smooth, traffic was a little hellish, guy in front of us got a DUI! Other then that a pretty successful nite! Good job Commerce City.

Anonymous said...

I have to Agree Great Night, there was some lighting which I hate, But all day was Very Good. And all in good old Commerce City!

Anonymous said...

To new in the area. Your co-workers are continuing rumors that hurt our city. We also live in the north, but the south is full of hard working people who have invested their life savings in their homes. Yes there are a large number of Mexican people in the southern area (like many of the suburbs older areas) Most speak English, hold jobs and are good citizens. The number of illegals is a question.
The park getting the most is a new park, the city owned the land and due to litigation & finances issues could now develope to benefit all children.
Land in the north is at a premium price,so for the city to develope would cost, and who will pay for it?
Please educate yourself don't take bad information as the truth.

Anonymous said...

what's with the hate for the reunion area. I live in fronterra and wish it was taken care of like reunion.

Anonymous said...

I think that everyone just lumps the whole north together and calls them Reunion. I live in Reunion and I do not think that it is "taken" care of more then any other area.We do have a rec center, but that was by shea ans we have to pay to use it, nothing is "given to us for free".

Anonymous said...

I was watching the recycling effort in Commerce City and see that things may not be going so well, due mostly to a bottom line. I am not saying this is wrong, the "bottom Line" is very important. Just a message for the Recycling Group and their leader Trudy Smith: Keep up you cause, I came across this story and wanted to share it with you.

I am here LIVE fron the Mile High Music Festival! IT IS HOT but all are having a good time. There is a cool company called COOLRADO or something like that. They are a great enviormental company.

Anonymous said...

I disagree! There is the North and then their is Reunion. Reunion has a mind all by itself.

Anonymous said...

EVERYTHING GOING GREAT AT MUSIC FESTIVAL. HOT but GOOD MUSIC. Will Come back next year for SURE!

Anonymous said...

I am at Dicks Mile High Music Festival RIGHT NOW!!! and I am able to leave a message about whatever I want and everone can read it! WOW we live in a very diferent world! I am from Denver and just heard some people talking about how we are actually in Commerce City. So GOOD JOB COMMERCE CITY!

Anonymous said...

From the Music Festival: Music is Great, Traffic Sucked yesturday. Tonight lets not all leave at once. Just chill out for a while and leave in spurts. DAVE ROCKS!!!

Anonymous said...

Lived in the Denver Area for about 20 years. Can't beleive that Commerce City has pulled off a Music Festival on this level. The area still kind of looks the same but it really looks like things are changing for Commerce City.

Anonymous said...

I am from the Northern Part of Commerce City. Lets al be careful, I saw someone get a DUI last night. If you can't drive DONT it is not worth it.

Anonymous said...

CANT WAIT FOR DAVE!!!! Thank You Commerce City!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I just saw the junk raft story, I think it is an excellent inspiration story for Trudy and the recycling effort.

Think Globally, Act Locally

Anonymous said...

Dave Mathews in Commerce City?!? WTF happened.

I grew up in this area. Not a everyday event.

Anonymous said...

Music Festival is Better then I thought it was going to be.

Boy Denver really missed out on this one. Denver is so stupid.

Anonymous said...

I know that Denver tries to bully Commerce City, you all remember the MLS All Star Game, promoted as being in Denver? Well Commerce City is getting back with have this great festival here! My suggestion is to do all that you can to bring it back next year.

Anonymous said...

Lets all give credit where credit is due. Commerce City was able to secure this event after Denver screwd up. Good Job Commerce City!!!!!!! Can't wait for Dave!

Anonymous said...

From Music Festival, just learned I was in Commerce City, I know I am stupid but I really thought I was in Denver. We stayed in Denver last night. But I wish Commerce City had more things for us to go to, so the city can benefit from having this event. Good Job Commerce City.

Anonymous said...

From Festival. I thought I was in Denver too. God knows there is enought Denver PD here for all of us to think that we are in Denve.

Music is Great so Far

Anonymous said...

Junk Raft story is a great story. and yes a good inspiration for the Commerce City Recycling Effort.

Anonymous said...

Beautiful Day, Beautiful Music, And Commerce City is a Beautiful City.

Anonymous said...

To give credit where credit is due, without the efforts of the former City Manager Perry VanDeventer, former Mayor Ford, former City Council and the staff in 2003-2006, there would have been NO Rapids Stadium, Quebec Street improvements, 104th Avenue Improvements, Parade of Homes and Mile Hi Music Festival. Commerce City has been moving forward on the work of many people, not just the current Mayor and Council. Thank you to former people for all this!

Anonymous said...

Obviously last post was from racetrack rene or wife. The credit is for the current administration for negotiating and bring the concert to the city

Anonymous said...

Concert is pretty much over. ALL IN ALL A GREAT SUCCESS!!! I think a tradition has been started. Reports are that there was 100,000 people. It seemed smaller, but that is what is being reported so GREAT JOB COMMERCE CITY!!!

Anonymous said...

A great effort and congrats to both Commerce City Police Department and the Denver Police Department. Look forward to next years Mile High Festival in Commerce City.

Anonymous said...

Traffic still hellish, but still a great day! Great Music! Dave was Awesome! All in Commerce City, Imagine that people!!!

Anonymous said...

I hope that the staff of Commerce City are smart enough to start working on securing this event for next year. It was a great PR event for us. The word Commerce City was spoken about 20 times, of course the word Mile High was spoken a lot too, but hey at least we are making some headway.

Anonymous said...

DAVE ROCKED and so did the whole experience. Thank you Colorado for putting this on. Back to South Dakota! See ya all next year.

Anonymous said...

Dicks Sporting Goods was the perfect place for this. Thank God for the cloud cover. Great Event and yes I know... Thank You Commerce City.

Anonymous said...

Thank you to the reporter for the chance to say hello to my family in Atlanta. They read this blog and thought it was the coolest thing ever. See you all next year.

Anonymous said...

With a Huge Conerct like this, how can the city be in the midst of a recall of the Mayor. Don't the people of Commerce City like Music. I am sure that the mayor had some hand in bring this to your city, didnt he?

Anonymous said...

It was the staff I think and I know that Council Member Tracey Snyder had a big hand in it. At least that is what one of the Gateway videos said. So thank you to whoever was involoved.

Anonymous said...

Okay Commerce City, Everyone can feel the electricity in the air, lets not mess it up by keepit rollin. Lets all stay positive and move forward.

Anonymous said...

Back to CA, Thank you Commerce City for having a Nice Event and we will see you next year

Anonymous said...

City Council just had a resolution 33 to have a No Support on the Jim Benson Ass Tax.

Anonymous said...

How can they support a seat tax just recently, then not support this one. How does this work?

Anonymous said...

Can you imagine the money the Boys and Girls club effort would have made on the last music festival.

Anonymous said...

Knoenke, is not going to build here for awhile. So why not go for a seat tax? Lets at least get something out of this. Right?

Anonymous said...

Council now talking about the famous "Basketball" hoop law. Let the kids play, DAMN!

Anonymous said...

If hoop is in the street, the officer can require it to be moved. City Council do not regulate play of kids.

Anonymous said...

I think the idea is that the famous "basketball" hoop law will be complaint driven. But it does give them the "tool" to enforce it to be moved. Besides not just basketball hoops. It can be anything, Any obstruction.

Anonymous said...

The "basketball" hoop ordinance is not a basketball hoop but it is anything that creates a hinderance for a vehicle to not use the road.

Anonymous said...

Let the Kids Play. DAMN!

Anonymous said...

Right now Commerce City Police Department dont have the right to enforce the people that are leaving crap in the street. The police are asking for this to help them out

Anonymous said...

After all that City Council is going back to the original. and it passes 5 to 4. and so it is approved.

Anonymous said...

Tony, Orval and Jim all want names taken off the famous "basketball" Hoop ordinances.

Anonymous said...

From my understanding the "basketball hoop" ordinance, really had little to do with kids playing.
It had more to do with sidewalks being blocked by the hoops, or cars parked across them. It was a safety issue of not forcing people to walk or bike in the street to get around the stuff blocking the sidewalks.
I know it's a b---h to go walking with my kids on trash day but that is only one day a week. I wouldn't want my little ones having to ride into the street around stuff all the time.

Anonymous said...

baseball stadium. Good or Bad? Baseball group will put up one year of "rent", they are very confident that they will not fail. Baseball group does not want to do the Line of Credit proposal that was brought up by Council Member Reba Drotar. Baseball stadium could be used for other events but nothing is in place, because it is hard to determine this because the stadium is not in place.

Anonymous said...

baseball Group does not want council to just Make this happen but rather just let them on the upcoming ballot and let the voters of the GID in the Northern area decide.

Anonymous said...

baseball on ballot, huh? I think we need the schools first, dont we?

Anonymous said...

Schools first? Huh, do you even get this?
Apples and oranges!

Anonymous said...

Apples and Oranges? It is all coming out of my Pocket!

Anonymous said...

Baseball Stadium can be a focal point of some desperately needed Economic Development then the People will come back and then the School can be built.

Anonymous said...

I think we need this baseball stadium, We could get a rec center up here. Lets all just take a chance, what can it hurt, they said that 55 out of 56 teams have made it and damn those are numbers good enough for me. Besides I am tired of not moving forwarded! Lets all go for it.

Anonymous said...

Doesnt matter what council does or says, it will go to the vote of the people up here in out wonderful city of Commerce City. We will decide. I personally don't think it will get far, but hey you never can know until the fat lady signs (votes counted, not that the people counting the votes are fat.) you get my point

Anonymous said...

So I see the Recall has hit us again with a announcement. So lets go through the strategy. Create a group in the south called URCC or RUCC or whatever they call it, Build that group up, then start a recall of the Mayor, then tell that group that you built up that they need to support the recall. So, am I about right on?

Anonymous said...

FORGET THE RECALL, WE ARE ON THE BRINK OF GETTING A KINGSSSSSS! Can I get a HELLLLLL YEAHHHHH!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Who the hell does the recall group think is going to take Paul's place? Just a question that begs to be answered. By the way LOVE the Police Scanner.

Anonymous said...

I have been more educated about city issues reading this blog then I EVER got out of any newspaper! And I mean ANY newspaper!

To apples and oranges, We will get nothing for free, and at this point in time I will have to agree that Schools for this area are a primary concern to some endevor that might or might not work.

Also love the police scanner, dont know how the hell it comes thru the computer, but pretty damn cool.

Anonymous said...

I think that Rene and group has to come up with over 700 signatures just to get this on the ballot. Man that is a lot of explaining why that has to be done. This is not just a open and shut case. Good Luck guys, your going need it. By the way, I don't think I will sign, but I do want to hear what the hell the current mayor did to deserve a recall effort.

Anonymous said...

Apples and Oranges, what the hell? the guy made a good point, I for one do think we need to think about schools first. Business will come in time, we dont need some stupid minor league baseball joke. Shoot, I think I would rather have NASCAR then that!

Schools first, then some "focal point"

Anonymous said...

The Baseball Stadium can bring wonders to us here in the North. I think it is a good idea and would love to see a Recreation Center up here. I don't live in Reunion and do not have a recreation facility unless I make the major trip down to the south and with gas prices the way they are, it really is becoming an ordeal.

Anonymous said...

Right after the election rene said Paul natale stole the election from him by winning the vote from "those people in the north". That's why he tried so many times to recall him. He wants Paul's job despite what the voters say...This reme guy is bad for the city. We're moving forward but he's trying to drag us down.

Anonymous said...

Please no more new taxes for all of us in the north. We are paying for schools, highways, parks in the south part of the city, we can't take anymore. Why can't developers pay for a baseball stadium?

Anonymous said...

No recall unless you have a reason man. Paul was elected by a majority of the voters so wait until the next election and chose somebody else.

Anonymous said...

Police Scanner link does not work. It seems to be offline.

Anonymous said...

recall group need 700 plus signatures. Are there even that many registered Voters in Commerce City????

Anonymous said...

Ewwwwww Body remains in the river. I hope that river has nothing to do with our drinking water. Does It?

Anonymous said...

Ass tax people didnt get enough valid signatures, or at least that is the word on the street. How is Racing Rene going to get enough to recall natale? Besides were getting a king soopers!!!!!Life is good.

Anonymous said...

First the GID paid for infrastructure up north. Then the GID was stretched to pay for the improvements on 104th Avenue. Now the GID may be tapped for the baseball stadium and rec center- I think NOT. Let the City pay for all city residents, even those of us in the North.

Anonymous said...

My guess is the king soopers will fall through right after the recall. How much is this King Soopers costing all taxpayers? Is it enough for a rec center up north?

Anonymous said...

For everyone in the north that thinks they are paying property taxes that cover improvements in the south, you need to study how your property taxes are devided up.
Most homes in the north pay very little to the city itself. You may be paying for your community infatructure as a separate tax, but the city's portion is very small. Most homes in the north pay between $60 and $80 per year to the city. That doesn't cover the cost of your trash removal.
Help everyone by studying your tax breakdown to better know what you support.

Anonymous said...

Funny how it is Rene that heads up this recall, hmmm seem a bit obvious.
Funny how he has made all the city decisions the mayor's "fault" when it's a 9 vote council.
Funny how word out on the street is Rene is planning on trying to get back the positon of mayor.(he tells two different stories depending on who you are)
Funny how Rene wasted mucho money of the cities when he was on council for his personal benefit.
Funny how he tells everyone he has this recall in the bag.
Funny how Debra and Rene started their group to "unite" the city, all the while putting down Reunion as brainwashed and stupid.
Funny, yes Rene you are a joke!!

Anonymous said...

I would really like to see something like this come to fruition. Any pm types out there with some extra time. Wonder if any feasibility studies ever were done on something like this in other communities? The economy is down all over Adams County but we “CAN” make things happen in our community by not waiting for the actions of others.

REPOST: I would love to see a one time 100.00 investment from the home owners in the north. Five thousand homes = 500K. We could form some sort of consortium to purchase land and build something like a bowling alley with an adjoining outdoor ice skating rink. With a good bar and concession area this could generate decent returns and entice further development. What does everyone think?

Anonymous said...

I think it is an awesom idea, but I doubt that 500,000 dollars would get us anything but a start.
This of course would have to be a volunteer program, which means there is no doubt guaranty how many dollars would be raised.
Would there be a board elected to make the decisions etc.
Just be devils advocate. The consept is great, the road blocks great.

Anonymous said...

Ilove the post about Rene Being joke. That guy hit it right on. Matter of fact everything that post said hits in dead on. Good Job guy who posted the `funny` post, I am with you!

Anonymous said...

Join Us City Residents Agaist Baseball Stadium or CRABS, wait that does not sound good, I will post later.

Anonymous said...

I would be willing to invest $100 in some kind of a project. Let me know if you are really serious about this and lets get this started.

Anonymous said...

Anyone hear how the recall is going? Also heard that King Soopers might not come to the Northern Range.

Anonymous said...

King Soopers just a recall diversion??? Maybe, I guess only time will tell. Also heard that recall already has almost 400 signatures. remember folks, they only need 716 total signatures. It can be done.

Anonymous said...

Help the recall of Paul Natale. We need 716 valid signatures. Commerce City cannot stand 3 more years with Paul Natale as Mayor. It has been said that leadership is a combination of vision and charater. In Paul Natale, we have neither.

Anonymous said...

Just heard from someone and it is someone I trust that Reba Drotar was actually asked and when I say asked I mean told to resign. Anyone else hear about this? Might as well just get it out in the open.

Anonymous said...

Bullock is just a joke. No meat to his accusations, out there in public, but will meet or talk with you privately where he can spred his tales.
I love how he says it isn't personal and says it is a 9 person council, but still blames Natale for everything.
The man just oozes slime! He was just heard the other day with his plans to get back to the mayor position.
I will call Natale myself and get his side. From talking with him in the past I say he has more honesty & character then Bullock could ever muster up for 10 minutes.

Anonymous said...

who is Reba Drotar anyway?
has anyone ever seen her at anything?
I see Benson way more then her<
she should never have been the pro tem anyway

Anonymous said...

With all of the effort trying to make this a unified city the bullock’s are just increasing the tear. You can no longer gain political advancement by way of affiliations with a few clubs in the city. You can no longer expect just a handful of voters to show up and put you in office. Gone are the days of pass down offices. He thought he was a sure in since he was ford’s stand-in.. The people in the older areas should really be questioning previous administrations because all they ever lived with was having their city degraded and discounting it’s contributions to the state. Consistent decreases in standards of living. The city was plagued with some of the lowest property values and overall just not a good place to be. It is now under “new prudent leadership“are we getting the recognition we deserve. Challenging, yes it is in this economy but getting better. Those long term residents; change is always difficult but those who survived the previous years should embrace the change. Once the perception is changed about the city you can expect increasing property values. That by itself could mean more money in retirement, to leave the children…..
As for bullock: I think he wants an invite as a mayor to the DNC. Could that be why he’s he pushing so hard now? That’s what he want it is not what our city needs…………

Anonymous said...

I agree with the Reba Drotar comment. I don't think Jim should be the mayor protem, he is too new. But I do think that Reba was not a good fit either. I think I would like to have seen Tracey Snyder in that position from the start.

Anonymous said...

Just to let everyone know. I personally saw Jim from the Beacon and Dusty from the Gateway News all meeting at El Jardin on Thursday! Wonder what they were talking about! Very interesting that Rene has enough power to get BOTH Newspapers together in one PLACE!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Rene video is talk on town. I saw it but need some time to create a opinion of it. Very interesting. Where the hell does Rene get his information from? He must have some high level insider.

Anonymous said...

It just makes sense that council ember Orval Lewis should have been the mayor pro tem from the start. He has all the history of the area and could have really balanced the mayor natale out nicely.

Anonymous said...

I really wanted to leave comments here but took me a while to figure out how. But noe that I can I will be leaving comments often. I too saw the gateway news reporter (the young one) and Mr. Jim Chilton at ElJardin. I think that Rene is able to get both reporters to come because it is a newsworth and a very good cause. I support Mr. Rene Bullock and wish him luck in his effort.

Anonymous said...

I think that the gateway news "young one" was at El Jardin to get the video. The video is obviously taken at El Jardin. Just look at the background.

Anonymous said...

I think we should make our Mayor a full time position with full time pay. We've grown too much not to.

Anonymous said...

There was just too much Insubstantiality in his statements. I like Rene as a person but can’t support a recall that’ll bring negative publicity to the city without pejorative facts on Paul’s service.

Anonymous said...

So far all I have heard is accusations.
Nothing but accusations.
I love the it's not revenge idea, but find that very weak.
Most people know he and his wife freaked out when he didn't get the position.
I think there are a lot of people who want to be in control and don't like it if someone else is leading.

Anonymous said...

YES Mayor should be a full time position. I will ask the council what they think about this and maybe get moving on this. I have actually thought this should have been a full time postiton last year.

Anonymous said...

I am so cofused about this Rene Video. I am confused because I do not why the gateway would do this? I thought they were pro city and pro paul. Now it sounds like they are for the recall. This video just has a bunch of false statements. This video is nothing more then just an ad for Rene.

Anonymous said...

I agree, mayor should watch out, it is so obvious that the Gateway News is for the recall!!!!! Video that calls out the mayor is un called for!!! Shame on you Gateway news!!!

Anonymous said...

To the Gatewaynews, what are you thinking, by posting this video, all you are doing is making sure that economic development will not becoming to our city.

Anonymous said...

Just learned there was a drowning at the Commerce City Recreation Center. Our Prayers and thoughts are with the family.

Anonymous said...

Dont get me wrong I love the gateway, I seriously thought that they would supprt a no recall of Paul Natale. They just come off as supporting Rene and his recall effort. The video is down right shocking and I can not believe that Rene said the things that he says.

Anonymous said...

As I see it Paul has 3 choices, either just ignore this, debate rene or respond and not debate rene. But something has to be done. I too agree that the video is a little edgy, I think the Gateway News was considering this just news, but I have to agree I really thought they would come out and support mayor natale in the beginning of all of this. they are pro paul, unless something drastic has happened, I still believe that they are still pro paul. I will talk to them and find out what they are thinking.

Anonymous said...

I feel so SORRY for the teen at the Commerce City Recreation Center. My heart goes out to the family, if anyone hears if the family needs anything, let us all know by posting on this commentary page.

Manipulation.
Manipulation of thought, direction and emotion.
Watch your backs, it goes on everywhere and if you disagree with a few of the old "prominent" people in this city, they will do what ever it takes, to take you down.
Dirty doesn't even begin to discribe their actions or motives.
Mayor Natale is facing that kind of battle.
If you don't play their game, their way.
God be with him

Anonymous said...

Wow has the weather been hot. I think we should all call the mayor and complain, must be his fault.
Changes in city staffing, sounds like an example of the right redirection of our city.
With our ex-city manager being a drunk, stealing our money for himself and aligning with the race track I can't help but wonder about some of the people he hired.
Anyone with a lick of experience knows that when a new boss, director and yes city manager arrive, some of the old staff will leave. It may be by request it may be they are not comfortable with the new requirements.
Hey, I hear the public service bills will be high this winter, lets call the mayor!

Anonymous said...

I am surprized and disappointed at the Gateway giving Rene this platform to talk.
I have talked with him in the past.
When the election was on and I told him I supported Paul Natale and why, he told me "I will be the mayor and we will have a race track, you might as well get used to it!"
He was a liar then why believe he is anything different now?

Anonymous said...

This guy is so fos, he still has not offered any concrete proof of negligence or even come close. I agree with the post how the old guard refuses to accept they lost the power they once had in Commerce City. In reality, this is a new city that just has the same name. Let’s start a petition to ask the Bullock’s and the others to move if they can’t deal with progress.
I’m willing to bet his name will find its way on the next ballot…..

Anonymous said...

No we are not big enough to have a fulltime mayor especially since the mayor is a ceramonial position, per the charter. A fulltime mayor will spend more time making political contacts to either get reelected or get some position with a developer or other company who was supported by the mayor. I also heard that Paul not only told Reba to resign, first as mayor pro tem, which she did,but has also threatened others who have not agreed with him with not getting projects through city council, where you are either with Paul or he tries to put you down.He does not believe in differences of opinion- it's his way or the high way. So we either have a part time mayor and a city manager, or we eliminate the city manager and elect a strong mayor AFTER changing the charter. I'm not for a full time mayor- especially this one. I also heard he ordered staff to get a king soopers no matter what the cost is to the tax payers. Could this be why the ED director is gone?

Anonymous said...

It sounds like Commerce City needs to redefine itself. Changes need to made in our charters, bylaws etc. to meet today’s needs. I think the city needs to have all employees reapply for their positions with background checks to weed out the unqualified.

Anonymous said...

All I can say is that was a pile of poo. You obviously have a personal adgenda to smear!

Anonymous said...

I have been listen to both sides to the dramtic soap opera. Even if half the things that Rene says are true, I think Mr Natale should Resign.

Anonymous said...

Pointed Questions by Rene to the Gateway News Video. Does Rene really have this kind of power of the local media. I thought maybe the Beacon, but now the Gateway! Sorry Sorry Situation.

Anonymous said...

I was reading thru the comments here, The guy who wanted everyone to invest a hundred bucks for something in the North, ARE YOU CRAZY! That is what the Free Market is for. DAMN, Are we at the point of desperation that we need to take matters in our own hands?

Anonymous said...

Drama is what this city thrives on.
Theatrics and drama.
Stories, tears and drama.
Smear tactis and drama.
Why do you think we have such a crummy image.
What a shame it was just starting to change.

Anonymous said...

Heard about the video but did not get a chance until now to see it for myself. It was just like watching a HBO boxing match promo. I just want to know when they are going to have the weigh ins before the big show and were will it take place, maybe Dicks will be available.

Anonymous said...

We all need to lighten up a little on the Gateway News. But I can understand were people are coming from, But I would rather have the Rene video then not have the Rene video. At least I know that the guy is crazy now.

Anonymous said...

Reba Drotar resigns because the Mayor Paul Natale tells her to do so? Well that is contradicts the video that was posted by the gateway news for everyone to see! Reba in her own words says that she is resigning because of personal reasons, that is why I love the videos, it keeps everyone honest.

Anonymous said...

Hiekue Number Three

Rene calls out Natale, says he made his own Bed.
Again, why? While in China did Paul go Red?
My God what is the Truth, Reba resign and on a heart Med?
So many stories and things Said.
Will it be a shock after the dust clears, someone ends up Dead?

Anonymous said...

Rene your behavior is not acceptable for a politician by any means, the video you have for Mayor Paul Natale is appalling and unfounded. STOP spreading your tales around town. I will NOT sign your petition and I will never support you if you run for office in the future.

Anonymous said...

I seriously think that we the citizens are the stupid ones. We should have all seen this coming miles and miles away. Is anyone really shocked that Rene is trying to recall Paul Natale. Does anyone even remember the in-fighting that was taking place between Paul and what he called the evil twins (Shawn and Rene)? Well, I do! Lets not act surprised and shocked that this is taking place, of course it is, I see a lot of dark clouds, well then most likely it is going to rain. Only thing shocking about this and it really is baffling is how Rene got the Gateway News to so this. That will I need some more time on to sort out.

Anonymous said...

Rene Bullock and the Gateway News, you have done nothing but give this city a black eye. I hope that you are happy and got whatever feeling you needed. I have not personally watched the video and will not because I do not need to see garbage!

Anonymous said...

Black Eye? What about what Mr. Natale has done for this city. Do you think that we are all stupid. Do you think we all can't figure out why Reba Drotar really resigned from here mayor protem position? Do you think that we dont hear Mr. Natale out in the public talking? If it was just one person saying all this, then I would worry. But it is not just one person, it is numerous. So go ahead talk about how we caused a "black eye" and we will see who is laughing at the end. And as far as the Gateway News, The meeting on Thursday was for all the press. All three of the news papers were invited, The Beacon, the gateway, and the Express. It was not a secret meeting and dont really know how everyone even knew about it. You think you hate the gateway, wait until the Beacon comes out.

Anonymous said...

This is UNREAL! I just got back from church and a reference from this video was MADE!!!!!!!!!! My God, what kind of a world do we live in.

Sneaky fees? Real Estate Brokers trying to pass "fees" onto us, Beware and call them on it. Also, title insurance is not needed. No such thing as "no fee" mortgage so don't be fooled, get three quotes and watch the details. Buyer Beware!

Anonymous said...

Just read the editorial by Kathy McIntyre, she is well spoken, but she references the New York Times. Well I believe that the old grey lady has a motto of "news fit to print". So why did you post the Rene video that is nothing but a smear campaign of our mayor and leader Paul Natale? A explanation would be nice.

Anonymous said...

Some real validity to the idea that this Rene video will hurt the cities ED. I had some friends over from Denver, both are in the retail development field. We started to talk about Commerce City and this video of Rene came up. They could not believe their eyes. They both stated that if they had any upcoming projects here in this area, they would be very concerned and would even go as far as to hold off any projects until the city can get its act together. A strong statement considering that they are so unbiased

Anonymous said...

Love the Police Scanner, Love the Hiekue guy. Can't tell if the Rene Video is brilliant or just plain stupid.

Something interesting: Just look at these numbers. Last Ten years (1997 to 2007), the number of city employees by functions and program: City manager went from 4.0 to 10.50, that is a positive 6.50 Economic Development went from 2.50 to 3.00, that is only a positive .5 in the last ten years. Now it is reported that is 2008, the City's Economic Developer is gone. So factor in 2008 and now we are down to a negative .5, everyone following me? Look for the city to take action to replace a ED person that I am sure will cost much more then the previous ED Director. Lets all keep our eyes open people, someone needs to watch. This is by no means just the responsibility of our mayor Paul Natale, but rather the entire council. And we wonder why Brighton and Stapleton are so far ahead of us.

Hiekue guy make me laugh.

Anonymous said...

Very weird guy, he doesn’t want to be mayor because he likes making money too much. Am I wrong or was he not long ago petitioning us to vote for him as our mayor. His words can’t be trusted. I sure hope he’s not on any city committees.

personal responsibility speech by Jason was very well spoken and really hits a great point.

I see the Rene video is creeping down the gatewaynews.org page. Can not help but wonder if it is their way of damage control.

From Osaka Japan,

Hello Commerce City, we watch your city and city life often. We all know Dustin McIntyre very well and find his occupation with the local newspaper very interesting. We want you to all know that we are not very much different from you as far as politics are concerned. We have recalls and even had a politician throw a shoe at the other politician. We plan on leaving comments on the comment page and give our point of view or opinion of your American city.

Thank you for reading,

Someone just had another great idea, Maybe the AskC3 could have a texting function too. That would be Hellacool!

Commerce City Mayor Recall

Many recall petitions are circulating throughout the city. Many residents believe that Paul Natale should not be allowed to continue as Mayor. I believe this also to be true. I believe that Paul Natale is not an honest and ethical person and therefore is not a good candidate for Mayor. I also believe that he is a bullie and disrespects many people in the city. He has a personal agenda and is trying to get rid of all the people that work for the City that have worked in past administrations. According to the city charter the City Manager should be handling personnel issues not the Mayor. Since the City Manager has been hired he has been doing what Paul Natale has told him to do. Paul is trying to run the city by himself. (he actually makes comments to people by saying “It is good to be King”). His Mayor Pro Tem has recently resigned because he forced her out, because she did not agree with him. He actually told her that if she did not vote with him that he expected her resignation on his desk. Then he and others are trying to say that she is unhealthy and that she had a slight heart attack. If it wasn’t for Reba (the Mayor Pro Tem that resigned) Paul Natale would not even be on Council. Well, He has kicked her to the curb like he has with many others. All the residents now need to come forward. Many people are scared of retaliation. If you are one of them, get your friends and family to sign the petition and educate the city residents about what is really going on with the Mayor that we have. There are even Council members that feel that Paul needs to go, but they are also afraid of retaliation. For those of you who think that Rene’ Bullock is on the committee to recall Paul because he wants to be Mayor. Well, you are dead wrong. Rene’ Does Not want to be Mayor, but Rene’ has the courage to help all those people out there who are crying for help because they are in positions that make it very difficult for them to step forward. He is willing to step out on a limb to get this done. Debra Bullock 303-287-6747.

Just a statement of fact. A citizen told me recall effort has around 500 signatures already. Looks like this thing is getting some real legs. Big Media can you hear this?

Anonymous said...

I'm sure this recall crap will cause a permanent rift in the city.

Anonymous said...

That is interesting, since I heard that a reporter was told by the recall they have about 100.
Can't help but notice the biggest mouths are always from the Bullocks.
Lots of accusations, no facts.
No different than the mud slinging they tried right after the election.

Anonymous said...

I guess I don't understand the big deal if the mayor as Ms Droter to step down as mayor pro tem
If it his choice, then it is his choice.
No offense to Ms Droter, but she is my representative, and I could never get her on her phone. I gave up. My neigbor had the same problem, but said she focuses on the south. I don't understand that since she is suppose to be my council person.

Anonymous said...

I heard the exact same thing, I heard about 100 signatures have beer acquired. Of Course this was about 4 days ago, dont know if things have changed.

Anonymous said...

Just heard but will verify, a citizen for the recall effort may have been assaulted at the King Soopers in the Southern part of Commerce City. Like Isaid I will verify if this really happened or not.

Anonymous said...

I agree, this is just a schema perpetrated by the bullocks for the bullocks and no one else. Has anyone seen any factual information? NO!. It doesn’t exist. Because members of the council are not saying bad things about Paul don’t translate to they’re cowering under fear of reprisal. This recall is and will always be about Rene’s resentment of Paul beating him in the election. That’s why Rene and spouse are touting “he doesn’t want to be mayor”. Then why’d you run Rene?

Anonymous said...

Rene better be careful, he is throwing around some very serious allegations. Why would you do this? Rene you better have rock solid proof, or you are going to be in laughed right out of town.

Anonymous said...

Addition to last comment: And to the gateway news, all you are doing is giving Rene a vehicle for his evil, you need to be more responsible too. I really expected mre for you guys up there.

Anonymous said...

I know that I am in the minority by my statements here, I know this because I talk to my neighbors a lot. I think a Recreation in the north should be a very high priority, the reason why I say this is because if we do not have something for our kids in the north to do, we are going to have a bunch more vandalism as what we get on the Murray Farms property. Kids will get bored and they will find something to do and if we do not provide something positive, believe me they will find something negative.

As far as recall, well I know too much and think Paul Natale should just resign.

Anonymous said...

What are the chances does everyone think that Commerce City will get thru this whole recall without being splashed all over the Denver Media in a highly negative way? What a Cluster F.

Anonymous said...

Oh it is just a matter of time before the big media picks it up. This recall is getting really ugly, All comes down to Rene group versus the Paul Group. I guess we are all in for a battle. Like I said getting real ugly, We will see the division between the men and the boys

May the best side win

Anonymous said...

Interesting Comment by Gateway News Reporter Dusty McIntyre, I ask him if he would sign the recall, and he said that he lives in Denver. What a convient answer!!!

Anonymous said...

It should also be noted that Dusty McIntyre (Gateway News) is the one who took the Rene Video!!!

Okay it is verified that a petition holder for the Paul Natale recall at least verbally assaulted, it is reported that the person doing the assaulting disgraced the petition by ripping it up. Incident happened at McDonalds area.

Anonymous said...

I got these top ten reasons why to recall Mayor Paul Natale from a member of the recall group.

Mayor Natale pays no attention to fiscal accountability especially in light of present Commerce City economic conditions. 4 months late in convening budget and fiscal planning retreat.

In spite of other council member's protests, Natale insists on spending thousands of unneeded dollars on out of State and other consultants for the city council and staff.

Has paid no attention and has not commented on the worst outside audit on the history of Commerce City.

His bullish behavior and disrespect of fellow council members has resulted in the most fractured council in the history of Commerce City.

Has missed more meetings in the past 14 months that the past 2 mayors in their entire tenure due to frivolous travel. At recent trip to Washington DC separated himself from other council members staying at the washington Hilton while other council were at the traditional "breakfast included" Embassy Suites.

Has joined all sorts of unnecessary boards and committees outside of the city and State (building his resume for a higher political office) while completely ignoring economic and citizens issues and problems.

Speaks very poorly of the southern part of Commerce City.

In spite of many public requests, chooses to ignore the foreclosure rate of homes in Commerce City.

Retail and Commercial Development in both the north and south of Commerce City is at a complete standstill (King Soopers in NOT coming to the north and is doing badly in the south)

Many upper administrative staff driven from city.

Despite campaigning against unneeded travel in the last election, Natale has taken more out of State trips that any other mayor or councilperson in the last 10 years.

Has been overheard at many public events asn resturants speaking about closed sessions and making derogatory remarks about current and past council members, mayors and staff.

Totally neglected his responsibilities with the South Adams County Water District. Has not convened even one Quality water meeting established by previous mayor and council. This has resulted in a very strained relationship between Commerce City and the Water District.

Slants meetings and agendas to promote his own special interests.

Despite compaigning against such actions, make deals outside of and without knowledge of the city council (Commerce City has a "weak mayor form of government"; the mayor is, by law, a figurehead and is only charged with leading the meetings and public events)

Anonymous said...

well, those are some pretty major issues, but do they have any fact behind them?

Anonymous said...

Oh boy, citizens Introductions are back in place at city council, only in study sessions. That will be 2 minutes of my life every Monday that I can not get back.

Anonymous said...

Okay I have a great idea, you know how city council has to vote on a ordiance twice to be law? Well, citizens should have the same pleasure. Let us vote for the mayor now and then in one year, lets vote again. A kind of Second reading for mayor. I voted for Paul, but if I could go back I would vote for Dave Busby. But never for Rene.

Anonymous said...

Well, Rene can make all the top ten list that he wants, I know that I personally talked to Mayor Paul Natale and he says that all of these "top ten" are unfounded and some don't even deserve a response. I kind of wish Paul would Debate Rene. Just want the truth to be told to all of us.

Anonymous said...

Okay I have a very important question, WHERE THE HELL DOES RENE GET IS INFORMATION FROM!?!?

Anonymous said...

I was reading the council norms article. Can anyone let us know what the will be?

Anonymous said...

You know if the stupid council would just follow the Council Code of Conduct that was drafted back in August of 2003, we would not need council norms.

Anonymous said...

Council tries to stump the I-70 guy, so much for what they learned on Saturday.

Anonymous said...

Will CDOT treat Denver and Commerce City fairly when it comes to its hard decisions? A good question and I guess we will just have to watch and see.

Anonymous said...

As far as every conversation that I had with the Mayor, he is always fair to all citizens and has never talked bad about the Southern Citizens of Commerce City. I do not understand this. Only thing I can figure out is that it is a personal grudge on part of the Bullocks, and that really is a sad situation.

Anonymous said...

The question about where Rene gets his information, Well I know that he gets a lot by himself, but maybe he has a high up inside person. But none the less it is a good question.

Trash Removal 2008 budget $1,097,979, That seems high, but maybe it is gas prices.

Anonymous said...

Nothing to verify that recycling will pay for itself, comment by City Staff.

Anonymous said...

free trash pickup in Commerce City and in Denver. But for how long? The cost will go up that is for sure, can we afford new taxes? Did you know that town houses are not included in the free trash collection by the city? We need to stay Green. Bids will be sky rocketed, that will be sure. Can we even afford recycling? Recycling is not free, someone has to pay? Does it even make sense that recycling can actually make money? Trash people are saying recycling makes no money. Recycling people are saying recycling does make money, Well which is true.

Anonymous said...

City Council cant even really discuss this until the bids come back. But at least we all know that it will be much higher.

Anonymous said...

Urban Legend - Track Rev. goes to trash collection, not true.

Commerce City Scooter law: Law meant for little small toy scooters. Denver: Scooter is no more then a motorized bicyles, must be under 50cc has $5.00 charge. Right now, 50cc scooter is illegal in Commerce City. But what about GAS! But then what about Safety.

Come ON! Let them RIDE!!!

Let me introduce myself, I am Nicky from Capone's trash service. I think we could work together, I help you out, you help me out, get what I am saying...I'll send 2 of my best guys down to work out the details.

Oh by the way we do recall clean ups too..... What? What I say? I'm just saying.

Thank God, finally some humor. Recall really has some tension in the city. Begin to think that is the way city likes to be!

People always need somthing to have a revolution about, gets old real quick.

Reference the dog track revenues- the council at that time promised the citizens if they allowed Commerce City to 'debruce' the dog track, the additional tax revenues would be used to fund trash collection. This was prior to any residential increases in the north. Now the number of households has increased and the taxes from the track have decreased. Although it was not part of the election, it was apromise from that council. Ask Dave Busby or Debbie Mitchell.
