Love the idea that the city used both the Adams14 and 27J school districts.

Wes, Northern Range said...

Natale says "We heard from residents this year they desire additional amenities that provide health & wellness benefits - parks, trails tops"

All of this takes money and LOTS of it. I am sure council hears us, but their hands are tied.

31 percent decrease in crime? Is this with the north having their spikes?

I thought Biggest News was announcement of a permanent location for the Boys & Girls Club within the city core coming soon.

Speech was WAAAAY to long to be woooonderful. Should have been shorten to get to the points.

Buffalo Run Golf Course in the black for the first time.
Please don't sell it. Lets keep it and see if we cant make it even more successful.

mayor says, ground-breaking long-term financial plan for Commerce City? FYI Perry (last city manager) had long-term financial planning in place, back when Jerry was still in AZ being whatever he was there.

Natale says "Being an agent of change is never popular, but change has put the City on a path that must continue for future growth to occur."

What change has he been an agent for?

dusty,
love the ROTC picture.
picture of Paul looks a little depressing, nothing you could to fix it? Stage looks thrown together.

Dustin, Gateway News said...

Yuri,
I didn't set the stage. It was done by Commerce City. I was going to crop the US flag, then decided that may not be the best idea.

PRO CITY said...

GOOD NEWS: Recent citizen survey indicated 49% of our residents are proud or somewhat proud to live in Commerce City - 10% increase from 08!

We are on the RIGHT path!

city is day and night from where it once was. Mayor Paul Natale has done a very good job running the show.
Hope some good candidates will run for mayor to continue us down the right path!

Leary in Belle Creek said...

hate to point out the obvious.

but if 55 percent of residents rating their quality of life in Commerce City as good or very good, then doesn't that mean that 45% don't?

pro city 2.0 said...

Good math Leary,
That is why the mayor says there is still work to do.

Northen Resident said...

Thought text was well written. Good flow. I agree it was a little long.
Over all, I give it a B+

TRUTH HURTS said...

Whatever! NONE of you actually read the text. It is 19 pages long! No one in the city cares that much!
Sorry, TRUTH HURTS!

River Run Resident said...

Mr. Natale and the Current city staff have brought CC to a whole new level.
They should be applauded for all of their efforts.

ps- I did read all of the prepared remarks

are those TV sets on the sides of the mayor?

How many Commerce City Council members were absent from state of the city?

Que said...

Getting mixed messages from sotc and council meeting last night. Amazing they were only 14 hours apart.

Anonymous said...

I noticed two things. All of the kudos given by the mayor to the staff, citizens and council for acomplishments. That was nice.
Also noticed how many notable people from other cities, reps from companies, economic development depts etc. That was also nice, showed they cared.
Yes a bit long, but that's ok.

Anonymous said...

what was confusing about sotc?

PRO CITY said...

State of the City was nice. Lots of regional support. It was very nice to see it.
Nicely done staff and of course mayor.

Close to the Situation said...

yes procity,
nice support from other cities like brighton. would have been nice if any of commerce city council would have attended brighton's state of the city this year. no one from commerce city showed up. brighton had 2 council members there.
also where were the rest of the commerce city council members? why didn't the entire commerce city council members come to support their mayor. god knows it was early enough in the morning where they all could have showed up.

Anonymous said...

I hear a lot of comments that the sotc was too long.

All that means is that Mayor Natale had a lot of good things to say.

Very nice event.

Anonymous said...

nice event,
remarks were timed perfectly.

Anonymous said...

would have been nice to see some new residents there. instead it was all the usual residents. 5 to 10 residents, rest were more or less required to be there.

Pro Paul said...

Speech was well done. Yes, it was long, maybe could have cut off about 10 minutes. But lots of good information. Goes to show all of you the sky is not falling.

Anonymous said...

I went to the Brighton SOC, there was no one there (2 of our council), but no others except staffing. No officals from any where....so where do you come up with people who "were more or less required to be there".
They came out of respect. Accept it our city has gained respect!!

Anonymous said...

Close to the Situation.
Mceldowny and Carson are out of town.
Johnson never shows for anything.
Benson, get real, he would never show for any that appears to be respectful for Natale.
The rest came for the SOC.

Archer said...

Yes, Pro-Paul, Commerce City is winning.

Yuri said...

For the Commerce City Council members, it should be a requirement to support the mayor at the state of the city. If not a requirement then at least strongly suggested.

Neil, CC said...

CC is not strong, their country strong.

Core Comments said...

Yeah, I think comm. city council knows they should come to the SOTC, some had legitimate excuses, but those who didn’t should be called out.

Anonymous said...

Want council to go to every little thing, then pay them more, BOTTOM LINE!

The REAL Core Comments said...

The STATE OF THE CITY is NOT a LITTLE THING!

Hyde said...

Screw Commerce City WAL-MART!

Vikki, Commerce City said...

Sure its not true, but would hate to think that certain council members would not come because they are against Natale. PS-Boycott South Walmart!

Brent Keesley said...

I am one of those who liked the state of the city.

In the Know said...

Listening to Mayor Paul Natale giving kudos to Jim Benson, Rene Bullock, The Historic Society, and Tracey Snyder is like being in the twilight zone. (of course, you have to know all the history)

Bud said...

So ringmaster Paul Natale is quitting this November. Now the question is who will take over the circus.

Anonymous said...

Ringmaster?!?!?!?

That is great!

New ringmaster will be SEAN FORD!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

God help our city if the Ford regime is back in control!

dkeys said...

yes because the Natale regime has gotten us so far.

Anonymous said...

curious have people think they know who is running already. I am pretty sure no one has made announcements.

Archer said...

Dont kid yourself,
We will see the same old faces like ford and leffel. After all it is a townie election.

Yuri said...

The more I hear about the Wal*Mart eye Doctor story in the South the More I am HAPPY Wal*Mart passed on the Northern Range.

The Wal-Mart segment on ch. 9 is disturbing and disgusting. Goes to show you that we have a long ways to go in America.
I will be one of the ones who will not go to the Commerce City Wal-mart on 60th avenue.

so is the stock show the reason why commerce city council is always in executive session lately about a economic opportunity?

If so, that is too bad.

Was hoping it would have been something more concrete, excuse the pun.

Anonymous said...

too bad mayor could not have announced the potential western stock show coming to commerce city in the state of the city.

I was delighted to hear Mayor Paul Natale give credit to the many members of City Staff that have contributed so much to this city for years. As a CC resident, I am very grateful for all the many positive things the Mayor has done while in office and for all his years of service to this community. Much of which, we will never know about like the hours of endless meetings on our behalf. Likewise, when one hears the long list of outside service city staff are involved in that is outside of their city duties, it becomes apparent how motivated these city employers are to serve this County and State. It is this attitude of service that carries CC though one election to another. Without, their heart of service, we as a city would not move ahead. Going into these next elections, we will have five seats on City Council come available this November. The Mayor said, "we could turn a page in history." Because, we have such a strong and talented city staff, we can look forward to a brighter future - many thanks to all of them.
