What is YOUR vision for the Old Mile High Greyhound Park in Commerce City?

Recently, the Commerce City Urban Renewal Authority (URA) purchased the former Mile High Greyhound Park, a 65-acre site in the heart of Commerce City for 3.3 million dollars.

Now comes the part of trying to figure out what shape the area will take. A series of community meetings are scheduled to begin this September as part of the URA-led planning process.

Until then, we at the Gateway News would like to know what your vision is for the Old Mile High Greyhound Park in Commerce City? Please leave your ideas below in the comment section...

No one say a hospital because it is NOT happening!

I really don't care what goes there. What I would like to see is not so many mom and pop shops and more name brand shops.

As long as there are some pocket parks included, I will leave it up to the URA.

Youth Task Commission revealed that youth wanted some kind of a Boxing gym. My vision would have a boxing gym included with the businesses. BUT, you must buffer it with either parks or housing.

I don't really care. just no more Mexican restaurants.

I would LOVE to see some entertainment there. It was that basically before with "The Big Store"
A movie theater would be Perfect! Also, some restaurants (other then Mexican).

I am serious about this.
I would like to see a hot air balloon company come to the URA area. We are far enough away from Denver and the mountains to get some spectacular views!
People all over Denver and Colorado would be talking about us!

would be nice to have a theme, like the 50s theme in Derby.
Maybe pay homage to the dog racing history.

My vision would be something nice with little retail, some housing and lots of green open spaces.
Nothing too fancy. The area needs a break from the over the top. Dog track was there for a long time.

no detention centers, no medical marijuana, no liquor stores, no event centers, none of those things and I will be fine.

I vision a entertainment area! Some place for people to do fun stuff! Entire city has NO place for people to go to have some fun.
Maybe that is why everyone is so up tight!

I would like to see our money back, give the taxpayers the $4million you wasted on this overpriced piece of useless property. Most of us won't live long enough to see the city ever be able to get our money back out of it. Really bad management again.

My vision is that the URA will NEVER ask CC CITY COUNCIL for any more money.

I think CC or URA should name the area right away. People already calling it Mystery Crossings or The Old Dog Track.

I say name it and that would be the end of it.

any word if the ura will hire a consultant for this and how much it will cost us?

How about a bowling alley, indoor arcade, Go-Karts, etc. for some family entertainment with NO Mexican restaurants or influences.

I vision a brick walk way with retail on the sides. It could be something very special.

A theme of industry would fit this area nicely. Not forgetting what Commerce City's foundation is.

Exposed brick and beams, Could have a urban industrial feel.

Please No More Mexican Restaurants. Also, NO medical marijuana either.

I would LOVE to see something like what Brighton has with their Armory, a cultural center piece. This would go a long way in this town.
