Thank You to all who have posted comments. It has been a real education to say the least. I will keep the July Postings up forever for anyone to refer back upon. But a new month has started and new posts should be posted on the General Issues August 2008. Once again Thank You to all who have posted and keep the comments coming.

Wow Paul is everywhere, nice spin Gateway News. Also to the so called Commerce City Beacon, the "people's" paper, there is a list of top ten reasons why to recall our beloved mayor and your paper does not even mention a word of it? Are you kidding me? Also where is all the commentary, which I know for a fact that you got.

So citizens we have one paper, spinning Paul as now a hero and one "peoples" paper ignoring us. What a sad time to be in Commerce City.

Anonymous said...

Just in case no one saw the top ten, and believe me there is more reasons, here it is again.

Mayor Natale pays no attention to fiscal accountability especially in light of present Commerce City economic conditions. 4 months late in convening budget and fiscal planning retreat.

In spite of other council member's protests, Natale insists on spending thousands of unneeded dollars on out of State and other consultants for the city council and staff.

Has paid no attention and has not commented on the worst outside audit on the history of Commerce City.

His bullish behavior and disrespect of fellow council members has resulted in the most fractured council in the history of Commerce City.

Has missed more meetings in the past 14 months that the past 2 mayors in their entire tenure due to frivolous travel. At recent trip to Washington DC separated himself from other council members staying at the washington Hilton while other council were at the traditional "breakfast included" Embassy Suites.

Has joined all sorts of unnecessary boards and committees outside of the city and State (building his resume for a higher political office) while completely ignoring economic and citizens issues and problems.

Speaks very poorly of the southern part of Commerce City.

In spite of many public requests, chooses to ignore the foreclosure rate of homes in Commerce City.

Retail and Commercial Development in both the north and south of Commerce City is at a complete standstill (King Soopers in NOT coming to the north and is doing badly in the south)

Many upper administrative staff driven from city.

Despite campaigning against unneeded travel in the last election, Natale has taken more out of State trips that any other mayor or councilperson in the last 10 years.

Has been overheard at many public events asn resturants speaking about closed sessions and making derogatory remarks about current and past council members, mayors and staff.

Totally neglected his responsibilities with the South Adams County Water District. Has not convened even one Quality water meeting established by previous mayor and council. This has resulted in a very strained relationship between Commerce City and the Water District.

Slants meetings and agendas to promote his own special interests.

Despite compaigning against such actions, make deals outside of and without knowledge of the city council (Commerce City has a "weak mayor form of government"; the mayor is, by law, a figurehead and is only charged with leading the meetings and public events)

Anonymous said...

I've noticed that rene and friends never complains about how his buddy lists his homes for sale as north Denver area and not Commerce City. Is it ok that “he” is ashamed of the south?

Anonymous said...

Looks like sour grapes is back! Damn I cant wait until the recall fails and we can all get back on the positive track again.

Unless the Mayor has done something illegal you need to drop it.

Damn!! that is true. Look everyone: The Cottages at Conter Estates is Now Offering Quality, Affordable Retirement Living close to Denver, Colorado.

OH SNAP!

Just wanted to say that El Jardin has got themselves one hell of a shredded beef burrito. NO KIDDING and would recommend it to anyone.

A repost because I think we all ned to understand what our city is facing:

A Real Story that I was told about! Unreal!
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - A couple fighting about which gang their 4-year-old toddler should join caused a public disturbance that resulted in the father's arrest, Commerce City police said.

Well HOWDY Folks, I am here and I don’t plan on going anywhere soon. My comments will be true and to the point, you all know me and it is time for me to get back the voice of our city. First off thank you to all who were patient enough to get me on this website and show me how to do this. I hate computers, but decided to take the plunge, after all it is 2008. Okay, first issue, recall Paul? Yes and No, why I say this, Paul if in your heart you can look at those top ten reasons and just say what a bunch of crap, then stay our mayor and keep us on the right track. But if you can’t and only you know this, then do the right thing and just resign. I know there are tales and stories out there and believe me I do not take everything I hear as the bible truth, but they are out there and the longer you ignore this, the more upset people are going to get. As far as Norm not printing the recall story, I know why and it is deeper then you think, but I do not want to focus on Norm and our beloved “peoples” paper. Norm is a smart man and has issues of competition that he needs to deal with. As far as the Gateway News, I know, I’ve read things in the Gateway that made my blood boil but that is also what I like about them, they are intelligent little group that can cause havoc if they want, and they use to say that the Gateway News was too positive, I guess those days are over. So the ball is in your court Mayor, just do us one favor and take the citizens seriously, just talk to them, don’t do it the media, just talk them on a one to one, you’ll see that a lot them just need attention.

Anonymous said...

Our wonderful mayor Paul’s time to take us seriously is over, besides he is too arrogant and remember all he is the king! The king that got rid of all the queens. This city is in a desperate time and we need a good leader that is honest and can actually lead us.

Anonymous said...

It seems to me that the mayor does answer questions. I have asked him a number and he has always responded, quickly too.
I don't always agree with everything he says, but have never found him evasive or to lie.
I think he has morning meetings occasionally around the city as well.

Anonymous said...

Well, I guess you dont know this mayor! He has lied to everyone and some even twice, ask the citizens they will tell you.

Anonymous said...

Good job to the mayor and the gatewaynews.org for the positive message about the Everton game. It is nice that we have turned the corner on all te negative out there.

Anonymous said...

His envy really is a toxin for the city. I hope it’s true that they’re trying to move because he has no chance at a political career here in our city. Is it true they purchased a home in the north but were afraid to move in because people in the south would stop supporting his business?

Anonymous said...

Anyone know why the water we get in our homes tastes so horrible? That should be mentioned to potential buyers so we calculate the costs of deep rock into our budgets.

Anonymous said...

Water taste like crap because it is half south adams and half denver. South Adams water has a long history of being hard and tasting like crap, they tried to dilute it with Denver water or as some people, even water board members call it, "the Good stuff", but it still is hard and taste like crap. Yes I agree they should tell everyone who wants to buy a house to factor in a bottled water budget, I use deep rock. We pay more in South Adams then they do in Denver, Cold Hard Facts. Our water sucks and we pay more. That is just the way it is. Of course South adams has many bills, like court settlements and private investigations and trips to penn. amish country and big retirement parties, so I guess I should be easyon them. What Bullshit.

Hiekue Number Four

Still News the Natale Recall?
How much further from grace must our little city fall?
Top ten reasons?, can’t Rene and Paul just take it the court and play ball.
Oh please lets get pass this you’all
It is a broken record for Commerce City and the only song playing is recall, recall, recall.

Thank You! Please stop clapping, get that women a tissue, please, please wipe your tears of beauty,

Derby Demo Videos ROCK, keep up the good work Gateway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

First time posting.

I live in the Northern Range, I actually hate blogs and bloggers. That was until my neighbor who I want to say hi to and myself started talking about 104th, which lead us to politics which eventually lead us to local politics. The more curious I became the more we started talking and eventually the famous “Rene Video” was mentioned. I had no idea it even existed until now and could not believe it was real at first. I thought it was the Gateway News trying to be funny. But citizens it is real and if that is the type of people that we attract to our local elected official positions, we are all in big trouble.

Anonymous said...

Issues that I think need addressed

Why is there a huge ass big white ball on Highway 2 that none our the council seems to know about, words of council women Kathy Teter, summarized of course.

I thought the city won against Enclave West the “Cadillac” of S&M dungeons. So if we won, why are they still in business?

If we have 18 people working for neighborhood services, why does the south part of the city look like crap? (settle down people, I live in the south, can’t afford to live in the north)

Has the council even driven around the core city? We have weeds and trash and expired cars everywhere. 18 people for neighborhood services need to be held accountable and that means it goes to the city manager and that means it goes to our elected council.

You wanted the job as our elected officials, well you got it and now you need to be held accountable for it.

Best thing I ever read here: Get the recall on the ballot, then vote it down, there everyone is happy.

Anonymous said...

Want to get a sense of how great the SACWSD is? When you get a chance talk to citizen Robert Romine. He is the guy in the red faded Commerce City hat at most city events, he can tell you a story or two.

Anonymous said...

resonse to this post: His envy really is a toxin for the city. I hope it’s true that they’re trying to move because he has no chance at a political career here in our city. Is it true they purchased a home in the north but were afraid to move in because people in the south would stop supporting his business?

YOU ARE RIDICULOUS! GET YOUR FACTS FIRST! You are blinded by Paul and his little group of fonies, and this recall needs to be taken seriously.

Anonymous said...

Hiekue Guy IS GREATTTTT, Please keep it up?

I think that guy trying to get $100 from everyone should get the money and give it to the Hikue guy to publish a book!

Anonymous said...

Yes there are around 15 people working for Commerce City Neighborhood Services. But please understand that they have a very difficult position. It is not easy to go to someone residence and give them a ticket because they have a out of compliance yard, you are basically saying, quit being indolent and clean up your yard. Put yourself in there position and you can easily see how challenging their job can be. So please cut them some slack.

Anonymous said...

Indolent? What kind word is that! Look I don’t care if there job is hard or difficult, it is still their job! I can’t imagine if I tried to pull that excuse at my job, my god! Bottom line, city looks like crap and we have rules in place so the city will stop looking like crap and we need to enforce the rules. That is as simple as it can get. I am not heartless or mean, I just want the rules to apply to all citizens fairly.

Anonymous said...

Okay, our mayor is out of touch and it is just not my opinion. I want everyone to watch the gateway video of the mayor talking about the city wide recycling plan. He say and these are his words, "everyone is making more money"

Dont beleive me, watch it yourself.

Anonymous said...

man you are grasping, I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.

No Recall for Paul Natale

Anonymous said...

A quote from Rene himself: just watch the video. "I like making money; I don't want to be mayor!!" Obviously he's making more money..

Anonymous said...

Whine, whine...Paul didn't give my carz club any money and made me feel unimportant. Screw the charities. We must recall him and the uppity others that live in the north. lol

RECOGNIZING THE TRUTH…In Commerce City
Please listen to what people are saying and sort it out. It’s not about who wants to be the Mayor, it is about who we don’t want to be Mayor. The community is beginning to recognize the other side of Paul Natale, the current Mayor. We, the committee feel that Paul Natale is overstepping his authority. We believe that he has violated the city charter by purgering himself in court with the Jones case. This is on tape from court on March 4, 2008, case number 2008C000277. When paul was on Council as Council At Large, he was opposed to Perry Van DeVenter’s salary which was ($147,980.00), and now the city is paying the City Manager ($160,000.00) , plus benefits. Mr. Natale’s bullish attitude and failure to recognize the truth has alienated many residents and they simply don’t want him in office anymore. The committee to recall the Mayor was formed because the community is fed up and they don’t want Paul Natale for 3 more years. We don’t want to put up with his bullish attitude and personal agendas. We don’t speak for every single person in Commerce City, but the ones we do speak for are signing the petition. We believe that the Recall is the right thing to do, at the right time in Commerce City. Don’t believe the rumors. If you want to know the truth, just ask. We do have proof of our allegations. The committee is available for questions and if you need to see the proof, we do have a physical notebook of reports, and paperwork that we have received from the city to substantiate our allegations. You can sign the petition, we will come to you. Call us.

Anonymous said...

Mr Bullock, you have lied and tried to take the city for money so many times.
You lied to the northern range repeatedly and called us stupid followers.
I am sure you have twisted all types of information to "prove" yourself.
We are tired of you constantly trying to get even.

Anonymous said...

Recall is real and you all need to face it. We have real reasons and real concerns. It is time for our city to join together and recall our so called leader. We can not, I repeat can not afford another 3 years. This is not about Rene and Paul and whatever falling out they might have had or having, it is about the direction of our community and it is currently going staight down the crapper.

Anonymous said...

I see great strides in our community for the better.
What ever your personal situation, I am sorry. We will have to agree to disagree.
What I do see is you continually bringing our city down.

Anonymous said...

Those few idiots want you believe that it’s not about the feud they have with Paul. The entire town knows of their personal feelings and how they’re willing to trash the city because of it. These people have lost power and are unable to move on. They don’t appreciate the fact that the new voting majority have moved into the north. Since Paul hasn’t lived in the city as long as they have and lives in the north he has no right to be mayor and represent them. Remember in the good ole boy days, they met behind the scenes and made policy. They’re angry that Paul’s weeding out the good ole boys and replacing them with qualified, educated employees. They’re no more kick backs. City business will be conducted out in the open and not like bullock tried to do with nascar. They can say what they want but we all know the recall is all about them losing control.
Guess what? You guys will never get control of the city again. We will not support the recall and will challenge any effort to do so.
Oh, and tell the ex-mayor to stop being ashamed and advertise conter as Commerce City.

The new rule of no communication is just a really stupid idea. All it is going to do, is make the citizens and come council members frustrated! One of the stupidest ideas ever conceived.

Anonymous said...

I think I speak for all of the Citizens of Commerce City, when I say congrats to City Attorney BOB! 40 years, way to go!

Anonymous said...

No more communication at citizen communication! Sounds more like Communist City! Council get rid of this rule!

Anonymous said...

Teter can not talk during citizen communication! What a bunch of bullshit

Anonymous said...

No communication for council and citizen, welcome to the new Commerce City!

Anonymous said...

Everyone needs to calm down, it will make the meetings more productive and run more smooth.

Anonymous said...

No more council opinions, what the hell, we should elect robots!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Just more issues for the recall to talk about, thanks PAUL!

Anonymous said...

Only intelligent thing said the whole night is that the Baseball stadium be a obligation of the entire city! That comment was made Rene, DAMN, I guess the recall is making more sense day by day!

Anonymous said...

Looks like the council is all talk, let me explain, recycling people not even notified about study session last week, when the council talked about recycling, although it looks like it would not matter, remember no communication

Anonymous said...

If, and the word "If" is the big one, anything goes forward about the baseball stadium the only direction the council will give is to let the citizens vote.
It would be on the ballot for the citizens to decide.
The only decision council is involved in, is wheather or not to place in on the ballot.
I have been listioning.

Anonymous said...

I would love recycling also, but have concerns about the possible loss of regular trash pick up.
No one wants to say it, but there are a lot of people who cannot afford to pay for trash pick up.
The image of our city could become worse if numbers of families start collecting trash around their homes and rental properties.
Pay as you go probably won't work and some won't care if their yards become dumps.

Anonymous said...

Maybe the city would have more money if the council would quit wasting money on consultants that get rid of citizens communication, and won't allow city council to comment (Kathy Teter wanted to but shot down by our beloved "mayor" Paul Natle).

Gives just one more reason why we desperately need this recall to go thru.

Anonymous said...

This is why I LOVE BLOGS, I get to break the news that City Council has voted 9 to 0 to not enter into a public/private venture that included a baseball stadium/ice rink/northern rec. center/4 plex. This came after Rene Bullock made a citizen comment that told council that baseball stadium should be a whole city thing and not just a northern GID thing, and yes I was really at the meeting.

I cant believe the complete 180 some of the council took on this issue. What a town!

Anonymous said...

Dear People, I have to say that I am impressed...You guys brought up the Pit Bull Ban and how Council was going to “revisit” it, well it came true, you brought up Derby and it was shoved under the rug, being on agendas then buried (called avoidance) funny how it is not talked about any more, the same old stance, ignore it and it will just go away, kind of like Pauls attitude of the recall, you all brought up how stupid of an idea the baseball stadium was and it came true, this really is pretty impressive, of course there is high level issues and insight being discussed here because you all have the info, you are the ones in the know.

I think this blog is where the real news is and will make it part of my day to visit it, which says a lot because I really do not like wasting my time on stupid crap. To be completely honest here, which I think that you all deserve, I am not a fan of the Gateway News or the Beacon, I think they both have too big of an agenda with each other. To the point where we the citizens suffer. Clear example is the Beacon not reporting on the recall election, well it is because the gateway got so much hype over the Rene Video, (even other Mayors saw this). Some goes for the Gateway News, they will not print the crime reports because that is what the Commerce City Beacon does, and once again we the citizens are the ones that will suffer. I truly think this blog is really the only place that we as citizens can go to get the real news.

And for the final twist, I have talked to the recall people and I know what our city is facing and this is my conclusion, Paul Natale should not be recalled, but then again this is just my opinion and I could be wrong, but you will have to come up with your own opinion.

Anonymous said...

City HAS to have free trash pickup. With our citizens, let call Commerce City what it is, A pig is a pig, no dress no lipstick, just a straight up pig.

ANyone want to live in a real city, come visit Brighton.

Anonymous said...

Maybe just a rumor, but it looks like the recall effort maybe running out of steam, I think they all got excited because they got a couple hundred people to sign and then after all the “initial” rush they realized that they are fallen short, Like I said before, unless the mayor has done something extremely illegal such as drugs or stolen money it is not a good thing. You need a good solid reason what to recall the mayor and this is not one of them. I encourage all to ask questions and listen to the answers carefully before you make up your mind and sign any kind of a recall. Get the facts and make up your own mind, don’t let some one tell you what to think, and don’t let some video tell you what to do either, we all have free will and we all have rights to our own opinions.

I for one an 100% against the recall and will be until I see for myself a valid, legitimate reason for one.

Anonymous said...

Rene "speech" didn't turn the tide on the baseball stadium.
In fact Rene didn't even write that,it was so obvious he couldn't even read it,his language skills and use of english stinks.
I asked several council members and they said all were concerned about the city's expected cost, from the start. That was always the main factor to consider for the council.

Anonymous said...

That’s going to another issue having the city build a recreation center, library or anything else. We will have those in the south demanding that they build close to the core city so “all” can have access to it. That type of thinking is not only detrimental but BS. The site they were considering was a horrible location. If a recreation center, library, ice rink (triplex), is built it should be built in a prime location like the northwest corner of 104th and Chambers or south of 104th west of Landmark. We can negotiate with the builders to sell the city land at a reasonable profit. This is a perfect opportunity for the 100.00 idea. We can vote to have each home owner pay an additional 100.00 for one year to help facilitate the purchase and building of such project. Once built the north homeowners will receive discounts for rec membership, skating and enjoy higher property values.
Who won’t like this idea? Some of people in the south: although they have a rec center, library, nice huge parks, skate parks, they won’t be involved so they won’t want to support us getting what they already enjoy. I cannot imagine anyone with a family or likes to read; not wanting to support this idea and 100.00 is only about 8 dollars a month.
By the time the economy takes off again we’re ahead of the game. Let’s be proactive and MAKE things happen. Council, I hope you're reading this.
$100 Guy

Anonymous said...

Once again the $100 idea is back, ARE WE REALLY THIS DESPERATE! Were the hell is the ED in this Town, are you kidding me? Our city should be marketing and promoting and actually going after business to come here, oh yeah, thats right, the city got rid of the ED person! I guess it really is up to us, our city is a joke, I see things popping up everywhere except for here, and dont give me that "roof top" bs, look at brighton and westminister! I see a sea of house and that is it oh and lots of ED on our front door and back door and side doors of our city, Message to COUNCIL: HIRE A ED PERSON WITH SOME FIRE and lets get a move on! Damn! WHere is the asprin!!! OH YEAH THATS RIGHT I HAVE TO DRIVE TO BRIGHTON TO GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Brighton calls up Pigs and you don't want to hear what Denver calls us. Cant even get mad at them, how can you defend it, BUT, a lot of it is unincorporated Adams County, and that is not fair.

I will say this gently, lets all change our city's image within, at least we can start there.

Anonymous said...

I am so MAD at Brighton for calling us Pigs! I decided to boycott them and never shop there again! OH WAIT THAT’S RIGHT I HAVE TO IF I WANT TO EAT!!!

Anonymous said...

no offense, but the commerce city website sucks! I just want a quick piece of information and the site is so user unfriendly that I finally gave up.

Message to Council: Please look at the website and make it more user friendly.

Anonymous said...

We got our first negative response from someone in the south. In case you haven't heard, the economy is down all over the country you live in. That's why we as citizens of the areas we live can take a stance by NOT waiting on the economy to improve. The old ed person should have been fired a long time ago and we would be in a worst condition had he remained. We need new blood to pump life into this city. Don’t worry, since you live in the south so you won't be required to chip in. and yes, I'm back

Anonymous said...

last ed person took a lot of credit for what shea and sw brought to the city, no real loss here folks! all we did was just save some Payroll money.

Anonymous said...

Additional Comment to last one:

What ever came out of Las Vegas ed trips, I would LOVE to see a report of what actually came to reality from all those trips that we were promised. Council talks and talks about accountability!? Well I am asking were is the accountability!

Anonymous said...

So don't shop in Brighton.
You can shop in Thornton it's not that far.
There is also a Kings in south CC. I shop just about anywhere but Brighton to give my money to other areas.

Anonymous said...

Once again, on my lunch break and I have to say I am very happy that the council is not pursing the private/public venture of the baseball stadium. I do not understand these "ventures" that involve the public, if they are so successful, then just build it, don't ask the already strained citizens to help you out.

Also, why is the city always looking for the "big one" in the north, let me explain, we started with Nascar and now a Baseball Mega complex, It seems like it is more just the planning staff trying to build up their personal resumes. We do not need to a "focal Point" to draw ED, all we need is a good staff in place and some intelligence in the mayor AND COUNCIL positions.

Good "focal Point" or "anchor" for the north, A KING SOOPERS!

Anonymous said...

To the comment that the Recall is losing steam, get your facts first, give the recall group a call, they are not afraid to talk to anyone. We are still rollin and we will see what happens.

If the citizens don't care about their city well then we will take the next step.

Anonymous said...

First rumors then lies now threats.
Why is it so difficult for you to accept the fact that the citizens don't want you, your sneaky ways your low level ethics, your race track.

Anonymous said...

Gateway News should like this comment, I can not believe that there was a list of top ten reasons to recall Paul Natale and the Beacon does not run it, Also I know for a fact that Jim Chilton, the Beacon Reporter was going to to a story, even went to lunch with Mayor to "talk" and get his side of the story! And so what did the Commerce City Peoples Paper report. THE WHEATHER and how Hot it is! NO SHIT! I was there I got the same conclusion when I stuck my hand outside! Don't want to report the News because everyone was talking about the Rene Video! All your doing is just hurting yourself. Nice one Beacon. I do not need to have a paper thrown in my driveway ever week that does not give me any damn news. I use to have this same problem with the Gateway, but they have gotten their act together, but not until just recently, and to be honest I lately am only getting my news from this blog. I know all about the recall, the drowning teen, the pit bull ban which was brought up a long time ago, the china trip fromthe mayor, the consultants, the baseball stadium, and many other subjects.

Okay I got it all off my chest and I feel better. I will be back soon with more of my 2 cents. Until then, lets take care of each other.

Anonymous said...

looks like the city is getting rid of everyone who was a friend of Sean Ford or Rene Bullock, more on this later when I have talked to a few people.

Gateway News, stop spinning Paul as a local hero. We see thru you.

Anonymous said...

I'm going to talk to some people too. more to follow....lol

Anonymous said...

Funny I didn't hear they had many friends, just "connections".
Unless people they give favors too are now considered friends.
Just what I've heard.

Anonymous said...

I sure hope that’s true. Don’t know why Rene and Sean would be disgruntled they knew there friends and or relatives weren’t qualified for the jobs they were gifted.

Anonymous said...

Don't misunderstand me. They have supporters.
I have lived in the city a long time. I have watched the elected officals (not all) give favors. Those favors do create "friendship" Those favors are expected to be returned.
The mayor's problems started when he chaired the policy review board, where the citizens changed who was included in the council trips.
I have heard personally and overheard several of the past and current council say they deserved these benefits.
I overheard one spouse say "there was no point to being on council if a spouse couldn't go on the city's dollar.
Personally, I was glad to see this change. It obviously that this change as well as others have angered some.
Trust me, they are not to be taken lightly, they are a mean group, if you are not one of them.

Anonymous said...

All you Paul Supporters just love to bash the old council and wasting money. Let’s take a look at Paul, I will give you a example, the China trip that Paul made this year (2008), how much did it actually cost the city Paul? Why not be honest Paul? You said 600, but I found that to be dishonest, once again you have someone calling you on your lies.

If you were any kind of a real politician, you would address this in public, but you won't and that is fine, just gives us one more talking point.

Anonymous said...

Where do you get your information, Paul already told the citiznes, the total trip was $600 for the Commerce City citizens. The trip was part of a different group, part of the UN!

Boy, I guess if your recall effort is running out of steam you just have to make crap up!

Anonymous said...

$600 is what Paul said, did anyone ever look at the real numbers? We need to know the total cost of what it cost our city, if Paul is going to say that the past council wasted city money, well, lets look at the China Trip. In a public meeting so all the citizens can hear. But he won't.

Anonymous said...

I believe anyone can ask for the documented amount the city paid. If you don't believe it ask.
Rene are you so jealous about his trip because you imagined the great massages you could get over there, or just because you like to start more rumors?

Anonymous said...

Talking point, do doubt. Lots of talk, lots of pointing of fingers. Keep it up and people will start telling all of the true stories about you.
We are getting sick of you!

I hope everyone realizes that just because the gateway did a video about the Pit Bull Ban, it does not mean that the City Council will do anything about it. The Gateway News does not tell the council what issues will be "revisited"

To the $100 guy, first I want to say the I like the Hiekue guy much better then you. But I can understand where you are coming from. I just strongly disagree. We have all kinds of bonds and taxes thrown our way, I heard that we in the top 3 for highest taxes in Colorado. I admire you thinking outside the box, but for people in the north right now, any more mandatory money that needs to be paid will just break us. Let the free market come and that gets back to the city having good PR and a Good ED person on board, Lets stop paying for programs and ideals that the city should be paying for. But, I would pay $100 to stop this ridiculous recall!

To all the Real Talk readers,

I would like to thank all my friends and loyal readers who continue to offer their support to my family through our tough time. We have received many phone calls from old acquaintances and new friends, it goes to prove that we have a great community here in Commerce City. I have missed writing for you and sharing my insight regarding the actions of the Adams County School District 14 Board of Education. We have three board of education members who I believe are totally out of touch with kids. My family and I found out the hard way that their are outside influences that are not always positive, their for I believe it is important for all individuals to stand up and  open their eyes to what is going on. I believe that Kreutzer has the best interest of kids in mind, Klocker I hope that you stand up and be more vocal acting like everything is going great is a disservice to our community and kids. Stay tuned for more articles to come.

Thanks for Reading

Willie’s Council Norms
by Willie the Weed

After ribbon cuttings, do not, I repeat do not run with the scissors.

No biting. If biting does occur, vicious council person ordinance will be looked at or “revisited”.

If Council women have hair in pony tails, there will be no pulling or burning of the hair.

At events where food consumption occurs, council members will eat with mouth closed, how are we doing on this one?

After attending an event where food was consumed, there shall be no swimming for at least one half of an hour.

Council will where underwear inside of clothing, this one is not flexible and will not be tolerated, period.

Council will not use shoes as "weapons" or instruments of "retaliation".

During Executive Session, council must stop "water boarding" procedure on City Manager and/or but not limited to all City Staff.

To all of you who think the Recall is losing steam. We are running strong and your personal attacks on Rene and his wife are only helping us. The real issues here are the facts that Paul is a ridiculous mayor that should have never been voted in, and the only reason why he was voted in was because of Reunion and the Nascar Scare. Paul was not elected by the people of the historic core part of Commerce City. It is time for change and we need to act now.

repost:

Call us.

I appreciate the discussion and the different ways of looking at these issues. I'm not sure name calling is helping the dialogue and the understanding. I am on the fence about the recall. I am concerned about how Paul has represented the city, both in council meetings and in public. Did anyone else think Paul was rude to the representatives of the State Attorney General's Office when they came to present information about the final settlement for the Rocky Mountain Arsenel? How about the way he and council laid into the poor folks on the I70 realignment and the FastRacks project? He appears to pick and choose who he is rude to during council communication. He talks about Commerce City not getting 'kicked' around anymore, and then demonstrates the fact that he is rude and negative. I would like a mayor that understands political diplomacy not politcal grandstanding. And he sets the standards for the other members of city council and has the gavel to control the meetings. The city needs to have a comprehensive vision that is not based on geographic locsation but what will work for the entire city. This is not helped by the council notion that the GID can pay for city projects. Although it is not a lot per household in the GID, it is the appearance that the folks in the northern part of the city can afford to pay for things that benefit the entire city and frankly the region (104th Avenue).

Anonymous said...

To the lat comment, you are well spoken, and I do agree with you, something I want to say about the appearance.

"appearance" that we can pay for everyone, I see the appearance that everyone is struggling with their mortgage and foreclosures are out of control not to mention housing starts have come to a virtual halt. Tells me that the City Council is "out of touch" with its citizens.

I am one that is not on the fence, Contrary to popular belief, I am a citizen of the North and I am actually for the recall. I have talked to the recall individuals and I have talked to Reba Drotar and I personally feel that Paul needs to be removed from office as soon as possible.

Anonymous said...

What you guys interrupt as rude, I call passion and I for one am glad to have a mayor that has strong feelings for our city, my God, we have been pushed around enough by everyone and it is time that we have a good leader that will stand up for us, once again you need to put Paul's comments in context and if you have any kind of common sense you will see that Paul only has the best interest for our city, The only time he was "rude" was to council man Jason, and he said sorry to Jason in a public meeting, how many mayors do you ever hear doing that!

Needless to say, I am original from the south, but now live in the north and I am robustly against the recall.

Anonymous said...

You can be passionate without being rude, belittling others and listening before interupting and trying to shout others down. There is a distinction between passionate and rude, political diplomacy and political grandstanding. I'm not sure Paul understands and certainly does not demonstrate the difference.

Anonymous said...

My co-workers are calling this the lunchtime 2 cents. I live in Commerce City, but work in Denver, I have posted a few comments on here and they are always on my lunch break. Okay now for my 2 cents.

Paul is faced with a hell of a situation here, He has a recall that has elected officials in one way or another supporting it, you got at least 2, possible all 5 on the water board, at least 3 maybe more on the D-14 school board and at least 2 on his own council supporting it.

The Clear Message here: Rene can't be all crazy, he might be onto something, maybe not enough for a recall, but for sure there are clearly issues here that need to be addressed.

Anonymous said...

Well here is a News Flash for you. Paul is just as human as everyone else. He has emotions just like everyone else and I am sure that you have said and done things in your life that you wish that you could have taken back. I am sure that all of the council members have done this! If you think you can do a better job then when the next election comes around I hope that you are on the ballot.

Water Commission Resumes Full Steam Ahead

Tuesday July 22 was the first meeting of the Water commission in quite some time. The Commerce City Council/Water Board Members met and discussed such topics from the 2004 IGA and various projects including School District #14s new high school to concerns with Brighton and the new northern range.

The water commission include City Council mayor Paul Natale and mayor Pro Tem Scott Jaquith, and Water board members include Larry Ford and JoAnn Stevenson.

It was stated that these monthly meetings are more a communication consensus meetings and not really preferred to be “open” to the public and want to be kept “low key”. No recordings or photographs can be taken. So, don’t even think about it.

It should be noted that both the Water District and the City of Commerce City are municipalities that have elected officials.

I think the mayor is in a d---ed if you do d---ed if you don't.
If he doesn't stand up for our city (which by the way hasn't been done in the past) he is critized, (if he does)he is critized.
Since so many "know so much" it would be interesting to see what really goes on behind closed doors.
I have been in this city many years, live in the north now. I know people on the council that are so two faced it would make your head spin. No by no means all of them, but there are some that will talk about you behind your back and then say great things about you to your face.
I don't need that kind of "leadership" I would rather have a passionate mayor who tells it like it is.
It is so easy to direct our city from your gossipy cliques!

Anonymous said...

I agree.
As far as support from others in the city. I have no doubt, since there are some who are angry that the new guy came in and shook up there little plan.
They had control over everything, with their relatives and friends that could keep them all connected.
The mayor messed that up, so now they are trying to taint everything he does.

Anonymous said...

taint! are you sure about that! I think that he taints himslef ever time he opens his mouth, I have talked to Drotar and I know the whole story. Rene and the recall are right on and I am in full support of the recall, let the people have their say. We all can't be crazy!

Actual council "guideline" from the Draft document for council review

"Individual Council members will not respond to Citizen’s complaints during Council meetings unless directed through the Mayor. City Manager or City Attorney will generally assign responses to Citizens to get them necessary information to solve their issues."

I for one do not want to live in a city that has this "guideline" in place. I will make sure that everyone knows about this unbelievable "guideline" and will not be part of our practice in our city government. We are a free city and we need our elected officials to speak freely.

Council take down this "guideline"!

“It’s not about who wants to be the Mayor, it is about who we don’t want to be Mayor.” Directly from Bullock & crew’s post.
This confirms their motive. They just don’t want Paul to be mayor; at any cost. I’m sure we can dig up tons of actual misconduct from the previous administration, especially Bullock. I agree somewhat with one of Bullock’s posts. The position “mayor” in its duty is mostly symbolic where decision and change in only enacted by vote from members of council yet Paul’s singled out. This so called recall will only serve to alienate the core city residents from those living in the north. According to Bullock’s spouse he’s speaking on behalf of all who live in the south. In reviewing the votes from the past election I don’t believe that’s true and those who don’t agree with his representation should make it clear to him.

With the city’s expanding populace all future mayors will have the majority vote from the north and for convenience the votes will be cast at Reunion’s rec center.
Will you have the same covetous attitude and intransigent lack of support towards the next mayor? I’m sure you will because that person will progressive also.

Your recall lacks intelligence and unfortunately the city’s going to move on without you.

Recall, I have a great idea for a recall. Recall that whatever she is Jeanette Lewis from the board of ACSD14 and save 6,000 children from her. She is toxic to our city and is uneducated. People on school board should be a good example and a mentor to children. The children of the district have actually picketed against her. She is the most ridiculous stupid excuse for a politician ever. Leave the mayor alone, go after someone who is actually harming children and ruining their lives.

The following is from the press release on the Gateway News.og website.

“The City Council recently met for a one-day workshop to define its council norms – which are guidelines for conducting meetings, leadership expectations and strategies for improving communications.”

Improving communication?! Council has cut off all forms of communication during citizen communication. Kathy Teter (a elected Commerce City Council Member) wanted to make a comment but was quickly cut off by our dictator Paul Natale.

Council I hope that you realize that all you are going to do is make the citizens frustrated and more upset then when they started. We absolutely need communication back from the council and if it gets heated or uncomfortable, SO BE IT! What are you scared of, that people will actually see that you are all just a bunch of bumbling idiots that can’t even bring one good restaurant to our city! You messed up the Parade of Homes opportunity with bad Public Relations and Advertising, you continually screw up on the Dicks Sporting Goods Events, We have no Economic Development and the way things are going, we will never have it.

Just want to tell everyone how lucky we all are to have City Attorney Bob Gehler as one of our founding fathers and one of our city Attorneys. He is a good decent man with great integrity.

And while on the subject of Attorneys, the city has actually saved the taxpayers a significant amount by hiring the 2 full time attorneys rather them outsourcing legal, just a positive FYI.

NEARLY A QUARTER OF A MILLION DOLLARS OF EDUCATION MONEY LOST?

On July 31st a ruling by the Court of Appeals saved school children from nearly a quarter

of a million-dollar lawsuit. Here are the facts in this case without the political spin that

many of you may have heard.

1. As a result of doing their duties as School Board members, Angela Kreutzer
and Richard Ford Sr. were defendants in this case.

2. School District 14 paid thousands of dollars of a deductible to defend these two individuals.

3. The remainder of the defense was paid by B.O.C.E.S., which is funded by all participating School Districts, including District 14, so it was clearly taxpayers dollars spent on defense.

4. If Lewis had of won the lawsuit against Kreutzer and Ford, the settlement would have been paid to Lewis personally by B.O.C.E.S. (your tax dollars).

5. Lewis has refused to answer questions, claiming it is a personal lawsuit.

6. Lewis stated she did not take advice from the School District’s attorney as to not answering questions about the lawsuit.

7. There were other defendants involved and Lewis did pay for her own attorney.

8. I do not know the exact amount of the lawsuit, however I have heard it’s nearly a quarter of a million dollars (Lewis will not divulge the amount).

Here are the rumors that are not true:

1. The lawsuit has not cost the District money.

2. Lewis has paid for this lawsuit out of her own pocket (Lewis only paid for her own attorney).

This lawsuit has made budget cutbacks even worse. This is why I have been asking so

many questions about the case during the School Board meetings. In my opinion, a

School Board President should be trying to find ways to minimize budget cutbacks, not

increase them. Mark my words, we will surly see even more budget cutbacks, because of

unresponsible mismanagement of District funds. We already have overcrowded

classrooms with as many as 39 students per 1 teacher at one of our schools. This is just

unacceptable!

I am not complaining about Lewis because I myself lost the election. I am complaining

because I cannot believe how much Lewis has changed from the way she presented

herself during the campaign. I believed that any of the eight candidates would have

fought for the best interest of our students, but I was wrong where Lewis is concerned.

She is fighting for what would be best for her at the expense of our kids. I think it is time

for her to go! How about you?

RECALL PAUL NATALE, FROM THE PETITION CARRIERS

We have approximately 500 signatures and 4 weeks to go, to get more. This is serious. This is not a joke. We, the petition carriers believe that Paul Natale should not be the Mayor of Commerce City. We want a Mayor who is going to be truthful, fiscally responsible, ethical and have character. With Paul Natale we do not have these values and we cannot stand 3 more years of him as Mayor. To recall Paul Natale is the right thing to do for our City.
1. Do you know that the city spent over $80,000.00 to remodel a brand new office in city hall for the new City Manager. The consultant Dr. Bill Mathis told the city council to build the best and biggest office, so everyone knows who is boss. You can hear this on the Sept 2007 council retreat CD.
2. The City manager and the 2 Assistant City Managers. (We have 2 now). Used to have one. The three of them have car allowances that cost the city over $25,000.00 per year.
3. The salaries for the City Manager and the 2 Assistant City Managers cost $437,000.00, (not including benefits). Then we have consultant fees that are over 250,000.00. (Mathis and Danielson)
4. Paul Natale forced Reba Drotar to resign as Mayor Pro Tem, because she disagreed with him. He stated that she needed to vote like him or give him her resignation. Well, she resigned the next week.
5. Since Paul has been in office it is public knowledge that many long term employees have left the city under duress. Some of these employees are:
a. Pat Greet I. Cheri Chavez
b. Brenda Bebee J. Leonard Lucero
c. Gary Comstock
d. Al Sisneros
e. Jessica Osborne
f. Jennifer Aushbacher
g. Heather Grady
h. Stephanie Salazer

Remember, this is the same person that was behind the name change in the last election. Do you want to see the same thing in the next election?

We are urging residents to write your article to the papers. The residents need to come forward now. We only need 315 more signatures and we are going to get 500 more. If you continue to be scared or threatened and you don’t step forward you may never get a chance.

Sincerely, some of the petition carriers. You can call us…There are more petition carriers that will also be available upon request

Commerce City Citizens,

The curbside recycling program that Commerce City Citizens for Recycling has been pursuing for over a year is now up against severe time constraints. The city council’s annual budget retreat is less than 8 weeks away. We have reiterated our position both in writing and verbally to city council of our goal of free curbside recycling/free trash for Commerce City residents. We have met numerous times with city council and staff members to get a definitive and timely decision on curbside recycling.

In response to city official’s concerns about the city’s budget constraints, we introduced the idea of a ‘Pay As You Throw’ program. The general idea of the program is that both recycling is free and non-recyclable refuse is free up to a point - people who discard an excessive volume of non-recyclables would pay for that privilege This program can be fine tuned and adopted to any city’s specific circumstances.

Despite having been instructed by city council to look into the viability of this program, over a month ago, no one from city staff has called or e-mailed the foremost experts at SERA, Inc. to find out more information. City staff has not only ignored what we regard as helpful suggestions but also suggestions made by city council. It has now become painfully apparent that city staff has no intention of pursuing curbside recycling with an acceptable degree of conviction.

We need all 1200 of our fellow residents who signed the letter supporting a curbside recycling program to call their city council members. Remember that every ‘at-large’ council member is your spokesperson in addition to your ward representative. Share your hopes for a curbside program and remind them of how much they favored the idea of curbside recycling at the candidate forums in 2007.

On our website, www.neighborhoodlink.com/org/cccr, you can find these helpful resources to contact your city representative.
-Pay As You Throw information
-Pay As You Throw extended analysis performed by SERA, Inc.
-Position paper to the city of Commerce City
-City Council contact information
-Template for an e.mail to council members

In addition to contacting your city officials please join us for our next meeting. We will be discussing how to get our point across to our city officials on Tuesday, August 26th at 6:00pm at the Derby Resource Center (7270 Monaco Street). If you have any questions please call me, Brad Johnson, at 303.286.5993.

From the actual letter from the Recall Effort:

"Paul Natale forced Reba Drotar to resign as Mayor Pro Tem, because she disagreed with him. He stated that she needed to vote like him or give him her resignation. Well, she resigned the next week."

This needs to be addressed right away by City Council, If true, other council members need to take Paul out of the Mayor Position AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, if not True, the Mayor needs to go on record as saying this is a rumor! You recall people are ridiculous. Looking the names; all of you have personal issues with Paul. With all of the employment protection allowed in the legal system if people are harassed, complaints are taken seriously and investigated. I’ve worked with people who were complete idiots and when they lost their job they’d say things like: the boss didn’t like me, the new manager is cleaning house. This place is going down hill. In reality: they overstated qualifications couldn’t do the work and never should have been hired. People are not guaranteed employment and many of us at some point in life will experience losing a job or make conscience choices to change employers. . It’s predictable in a paradigm shift, many jobs will be realigned the person won’t like it and quit. Change is almost never welcomed but necessary. That’s life.
The vibe I get from the recall group is that the city is growing; starting to become more cosmopolitan with unlimited potential but the face of success is a newcomer. This recall is clearly rooted in envy and should not be supported!!!

I had a council person tell me that Drotar goes off in private settings,on people then acts sugary sweet to their face!
Give me a honest asshole anytime!

I don't read tea leaves, but I do see through the mud.
It's obvious about the wishy washy stance of the gateway newspaper.
They are close buds of Reba's.
Its got to make it tough for them to be caught in this mud throwing.
When they see what Reba does when she's mad, they don't want her wrath!
What she can't contol she kills.

In Addition, everyone knows that the real person behind the Gateway News is, yes you guessed it, REBA DROTAR!!!

I am surprised that the recall only has the "around" 500 signs, It tell me that they are running out of steam. Lets just look at this logically, usually, when you have an issue everyone jumps in right up front. Look at the water board recall, they had 1500 signs in four days. Recall has had some time and do not even have enough to at least make a first attempt to verify, Those numbers are not looking good for the recall effort.

Maybe that is why they are having their so called "picnic" it is so the "old timers" can convice the "new" residents why Paul is such a horrible person and why they should sign the recall petition.

URCC Barbeque = no different them Mormons trying to convert you!

BeWARE

I think the numbers are a bit elevated as they were given anyway.
I heard from another source (inside) it's closer to 300.
Not that Rene would lie about the numbers.
Remember the track was going to be 7 miles from the homes!

School District 14 was doomed because of the high enrollment of kids that couldn’t speak English. The parents of those kids couldn’t speak English and could barely read and write in Spanish. It is just an uphill battle that’s not winnable and the English speaking kids just don’t have a chance at those dist 14 schools. Where did the majority of the funding go to? How many programs were cut from English speaking US kids? How many staff members only cater to the immigrant kids? How many teachers in Dist 14 actually have a degree from an accredited school? These are the issues that must be resolved.

Paul behind name change? Seriously? Paul's response to the question of the Name change was it was up to the citizens. That folks is the facts. Now if Paul did something is secret and somehow Rene knows this, well, then that is a different story, but at least "on the record" Paul always stated that the name change was "up to the citizens"

from the Recall letter:

"Paul Natale forced Reba Drotar to resign as Mayor Pro Tem, because she disagreed with him. He stated that she needed to vote like him or give him her resignation. Well, she resigned the next week."

Once again, "on the record" Reba resigned as part of a personal decision, Gateway News has video of the Reba Resign.

"Off the record" Citizens are not that stupid, obviously major issues with Paul and Reba, Enough to make her resign or did Paul ask her to resign? Only Reba knows and you will have to talk to her personally!

the Fact Checker

Anonymous said...

It is on record that Reba's husband took around a petetion for the name change.
Rene doesn't mention that fact.
I suppose Reba didn't support that?

Anonymous said...

Hey Fact Checker,
Your blog is interesting, but missing one point.
Wouldn't Paul also know in regards to Reba's resignation?
Always two sides.

Anonymous said...

For the fact checker
How much money is the city getting from the new annexed area? How much money did the city make on the music festival?

Anonymous said...

The recall of Paul has become quite nasty. You have to look at the facts. Rather or not Renee has a personal problem with Paul is not the issue- Sean Ford and Renee Bullock and the sitting Council before Paul came to town were doing some pretty good things. Paul was rude to Sean from day one. Anyone who watched one meeting knows that. Paul has been trouble from the day he came to town. And now he wants the city to spend time and dollars to defend him in the recall, which is not something the city should be doing.
If Paul feels he is right, than he should be defending himself, NOT asking the city to do it for him! The facts will stand for themselves. Renee says that he has done his homework, and that he can prove the things he and his team are saying about Paul. Perhaps Paul should spend some of his own time proving Renee wrong, if he can.
What really happened with Reba? Maybe someone should ask her.

Anonymous said...

I agree!
I think Reba should come forward and tell the true story about what happened with her and Paul.
If she resigned because he made her, or asked her to, we need to know.
The sad thing about Paul is that what you see is not really what you get. I think there is alot more to him than he ever shows in public. He is a scary man.

Anyone hear the city is in a budget crunch? I heard that the budget is $11M over budget for 2009 and there will be no more large projects for years to come.

URCC (United Residents for Commerce City) AKA “the recall committee” is now using the guise of a meeting at a religious facility to recruit signatures. I can’t believe the Lutheran church would allow such a thing

The Fact Checkers will be checking the Facts of issues put on the blog. This is a effort to get the truth out there. Yes there are always 2 and sometimes 3 sides to a story. The Fact Checkers are composed of 4 citizens that offered to help me with this daunting task. We are watching the blog every night and will respond to all the questions asked of us.

Don't be afraid to ask and PLEASE be understanding to a timely response. Getting to the bottom of anything is almost impossible in Commerce City.

Fact Checker is more then willing to be wrong and educated. We will be fair and present both sides.

So watch for us we will be clear and precise we will always have the signature as "the fact checker" somewhere in the response.

Thank you all for your comments and the truth will set you free!

I was invited to a meeting at the Natale household to meet Sean Ford when he ran for mayor. I was unable to attend, but find it a bit hard to swallow that it was to be mean to him.
Has Rene really spent his time and money to get his "facts" or gotten them thru an inside source who tells stories and lies to everyone.
I know the mayor and his wife and they are not the way you portray them.

From the real Fact Checkers,

Damn People work with me. Please do not use my name! I am trying to get this thing legit.

As far as being on Paul or Rene side, One of us couldn't tell Rene from a tree and is too worried about his mortgage to get involved in politics, one is just a computer geek that loves to research and does know both Paul and Rene but voted for Dave Busby and one is from Japan and will do all the research via the Internet, like ordinances and consultants and then of course last but not least, a citizen that is a real bastard to everyone and has pissed off someone in the city at least twice.

FACT CHECK

City Manager's Office Remodel Memo

“During the fall City Council retreat with Dr. Mathis, general direction was made to relocate the City Manger and his assistant's offices. It was decided that the relocation be made closer to the entrance of the City’s manager’s office, making the new location easily accessible to visitors and more visible to the community and staff. The current City Manager’s office is not conducive to business meetings due to the limited size, making it difficult to conduct meetings with more than 2-3 people at a time.

The remodel required the removal of one small office and three work stations. All furniture and fixtures from those offices will be used in the remodel of the new offices. A portion of furniture and fixtures from those offices will be used in the remodel of the new offices. A portion of furniture and fixtures will need to be purchased due to the new offices having walls that go to the ceiling. The operating budget was not cut to accomplish this project.”

ESTIMATED Cost Include: Architectural Services $2500, Furniture and Equipment (includes furniture, walls, doors, and windows $24081, Construction (includes header to attach walls, fire sprinklers, mechanical work for thermostats and diffusers, ceiling) $20936. Contingency (10% of furniture, equipment and construction) $1000.

TOTAL ESTIMATED COST: $48,517 (date 1/24/2008)

Note: This is information for “estimated” cost NOT the actual cost. Actual Cost is still being researched and will be reported as soon as we know.

To the person with the 11 million shortage for 2009.
You obviously didn't listen to the study session or were asleep/don't understand numbers.
Nothing remotely close to that was mentioned.
The city is in good financial shape.

Anonymous said...

We'll see how many things are cut in 2009 due to the low projected revenues.

Anonymous said...

Gosh your right, and no doubt a drop in the whole state's revenues ie: home/business permits are the mayors fault!

Anonymous said...

Hey fact finders!
Word is from a credible citizen from the south, is that the recall group is stooping as low as one can imagine.
They are telling the seniors if you sign, I (guess who) will get your group anything they need or want.
They are telling other's "would you please sign my petition, to make the city better". If they question what exactly the petition is, they are told it is to recall the mayor. They are then told "just sign the petition and just vote against it at the election if you don't agree."
Rumor has it even the "town clown" is at King Soopers collecting signatures.
Not surprizing I guess that the low go lower.

We will check this out, but it does sound a little far fetched, but anything can happen.

Let’s Compare

Jerry Flannery: Current City Manager, $160,000, Benefits include health, dental, term life and dependents equal to what is provided to all other full time employees. 7% 401 deferred compensation match, $835.00 Monthly car allowance. Eligible for annual performance bonus.

Perry VanDeventer: Former City Manager, $147,980, Benefits include health, dental, term life and dependents equal to what is provided to all other full time employees. 10% 401 deferred compensation match, Provided a city car for work and personal use (included gas, maintenance, insurance). Eligible for annual performance bonus.

Question: What the hell happened where we needed to pay someone $12,020 more. Isn’t it more logical to go under the last guy and give them an incentive to work up to $160,000. Actually, this was the opinion of Council Member Orval Lewis and I completely agree with him.

What kind a car needs $835.00 a month!

Message to Fact Checkers, I have the actual cost of the Manager Office and will give it to you so you can verify and post.

OH, by the way, also fact checkers, how much did Flannery get for his stamp of approval?

Anonymous said...

I agree that the downturn in the economy/revenues is not the fault of the mayor. But the reserves have gone down and the expenses of running the city have gone up. Is this due to the mayor, the council or the city manager? More car allowances for the manager and deputies (now there are 2), higher salaries, more employees, less development, remodeling of a new building, higher consultant fees... It all adds up. Did the city get the boost in taxes from the annexed areas? How much did the city get in revenues from the Mile Hi Music Festival? How many budget amendments have been approved this past year? How much has the city spent in Derby and what are the results? Has the city really saved money with the two deputy attorneys? I for one have not seen any changes in the past year- only more money spent.

Let's compare:

When a city is trying to compete with others for a Great city manager, of course we should offer less than the previous one got!
Then we could have ended up with another city manager who Over projected everything that benifited his numbers.
That purchased an award for the city, because we couldn't earn one on his own merits.
A city manager that risked law suits to the city for driving drunk. Who brought shame to us by putting us in the spotlight for spending rediculous amounts of money of pens and receiving Huge bonuses and trips at the city's expense.
My understanding is the new managers' salary, was determined by the market for that position in a competetive range.
Hiring a manager with credentials and paying him honestly rather than allowing him to set up his deals and freebies is a terrible idea?
Our manager was hired with a unanimous vote (that included Mr Lewis) and all other members of council. They also were aware of and in support of the salary and benefit package by their okaying it.

My gas has gone up as well as my public service bill. So have my groceries and just about everything else I purchase.
My income went up 27 cents an hour in the last 3 yrs. I thought I would be making more, but my boss's have been taking a hit as well.
So my out put is more my input is basically the same.
I get I'd better contact the mayor!

Based on VanDeventer’s character I would bet (big dollars) the overall costs of him were much higher than Flannery. He received 3% more in his 401 and was Provided a city car for work and personal use (included gas, maintenance, insurance).

My numbers for a vehicle: modest driving
Loan payment 500.00 p/m
Insurance (same vehcle) 150.00 p/m
Gas (back then. Est..) 350.00 p/m ( wish I was still there..lol)
Maintenance costs 100.00 p/m

I would love to see Perry’s numbers: this is a hint to the “ fact checkers”
And add to his list:
All of the “ Police, look the other way criminal infractions” …PRICELESS

What possessed the city to purchase the land in that industrial wasteland? I visited the new dog park and it was not enjoyable. That location is absolute CRAP! A location with so much industrial trucks and tractor trailers is not a place for families and pets. Some one’s going to get killed in that area will all of that traffic. I would like to know who championed that waste of my tax dollars.

Unreal! I thought I saw McIntyre out in Derby taking video and here it is on their website already. Don’t get me wrong, I like the story at least they are not talking about the recall, Gateway News seems obsessed with it.

I would like the Gateway to cover more positive stories, give the recall a rest, at least for a couple of Days!

By the way, to the “Fact Checkers” I want to know how much our new 2 city position “deputy” city mamgers make.

A MESSAGE TO THE MAYOR OF COMMERCE CITY

At the last council meeting I heard you and Mr. McIntyre getting into a small but heated discussion about the Rene letter on this blog. I gathered from the conversation that you were upset because the letter has surfaced in a public venue.

Lets think this out. If Rene created the letter that means that he is definitely tell people the context of the letter.

By the Gateway News allowing Rene to post his own letter made it so that you were now aware that this letter is being circulated, Thus, you could deal with it as you see fit, which is what you decided to have staff dispute it.

Clear Message here: If Rene wrote it, he is for sure saying it. Because of the Gateway News you are now aware of it and can deal with it. Instead of bashing the Gateway News and Mr. McIntyre you should be thankful.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if anyone has bothered to report this, or just allow it to be ignored. It's a much better story if it is neglected. Why doesn't the Derby Association talk to the owners of the property and use their association's influence?

Anonymous said...

Can the Fact Checkers please check on this?

Why is a California consultant (Dr Bill Mathis) being paid a six-figure salary to run the city? Isn't that what a city manager is for? What exactly does our city manager do? I would encourage the fact checkers to ask to see his appointment calendar and see how he spends his time. He is never around and the 2 deputy city managers are forced to try to manage. There is no leadership occuring in the city manager's office.

Anonymous said...

on the list, we do have some facts checked and should have a report out shortly. keep the Questions Coming.

Anonymous said...

If the fact finders want to get the facts all they have to do is go to the city and put in an information request about the city manager's office remodeling invoices, salaries of all the managers, assistant city managers, consultants, etc. All the receipts from council trips on expenses and how much they were alloted. This isn't rocket science or brain surgery. These are simple requests that any citizen of the city can request. If the Fact Finder is for real, these figures will match what the recall committee is saying.

The magician always wants you to be distracted while he is performing his tricks. You look at his right hand when you wonder what the left hand is doing. Commerce City citizens don't let our Mayor magician distract you with talk about Reba, or calling someone the town clown. Name calling is something that little kids do. Maybe someday you should read the so called Town Clown's meeting notes from the Council meetings and study sessions and the trial of Mr. Jones where Paul Natale perjured himself. If you want respect, show respect.
