I think Benson isn't very smart. Anyone knows that homes don't make the city money.
The small taxes that the city recieves from the property tax, won't pay for the services they would have to provide.
Benson obviously doesn't think clearly.....that isn't news.

I would say Jim's just picks a fight to just fight. How he lashed at jerry in the vidoes was out of line.

typical jim benson

i have been reading some of the past comments. I am also upset that council only read some of the emails of citizens upset and ignored the jerry thing.

hey commerce city,
if your going to get into the real estate business, you need to take the good with the bad.

if your not prepared to do so, then stay out of it.

hey channel 9,
I live in CommerceCity and I don't pay taxes to Adams #14 and why don't you go back and explain what the extra $800,000 was for.

Try doing a real news story from start to finish.

Ryland, Reunion Resident said...

commerce city marketing team, yes i said team

it is sat. and the commerce city website still has the old city news on it. come on people what are you doing down there?

what else do you guys have to do?

at least you changed it from the third friday to the fourth friday.

Darren C ; Commerce City said...

hey commerce city council,
how is bring up a issue that you voted on considered to be acting negative.
life isn't always sunshine and rainbows.
maybe you should address the issues, instead of telling the city managers and staff that they are the most wonderful thing since sliced bread.
I will say that the streaming is the best thing you guys have done in a long time.
then again, I guess we can all thank the gateway news for the idea.

Jodie said...

If Adams Cty School District #14 is having such a hard time, why can't they give channel 8 back to the city so we can start using it what it is meant for.

City obviously has money to burn.

I don't want to watch about a school District that has nothing to do with me.

Just Kidding, I like the new shot of positive.

Anonymous said...

I am positive that this city deserves more good attitudes.
That will come about in a "pay if forward" of good things, vibes, whatever you want to call it.
Have you ever been in a group of people that are "down" they bring you down. I want our city to go forward and up....we can all help to make it go that way, not just council, staff, management all of US!

p.s. Sans this isn't about you it is about positive ideas, talk and things!

The honorable members of the Colorado House of Representatives and Senate,

In California the rhetoric against legalization is the exact same rhetoric as when the Medical Marijuana laws were passed in Colorado. Law enforcement officials are saying the same things they and pro regulation legislators said against our Medical Marijuana program a decade ago. Increased risk to public safety, it’s a gateway drug, more drugs at schools, all of which were unfounded then, and they are unproven, and unfounded now. Medical Marijuana has not increased the risk to public safety, if anything it has reduced the risk to public safety because Medical Marijuana patients no longer have to deal with dangerous criminals in dangerous locations to get their medication. It undercuts and reduces the revenue collected by illegal and dangerous drug cartels. Medical Marijuana also keeps those dollars in their local economies and not in the war chests of nations/groups hostile to the United States. There have been no reported cases linking the Medical Marijuana community to an increased use by minors. The fact of the matter is that illegal marijuana is far more available to children, unscrupulous drug dealers sell this and even more dangerous drugs to anyone with the money. Law enforcement efforts would be better served by focusing on truly illegal and dangerous situations, instead of giving testimony to the state legislature and others on how the legal use of Medical Marijuana by chronically ill patients could possibly pollute our society and destroy our social fabric. Legislators need to stop posturing and parading those same unfounded fears in front of the public, in order to frighten them into backing, out of control regulations on patients rights. Patient’s rights should be the first discussion held before any legislation is considered. How can we (the state of Colorado) protect the patients, keep the supply of their medicine constantly available, provide for the maintenance of the quality of the medicine. These should be the primary concerns of our elected officials. Then we can consider how to keep the other issues that may or may not occur from happening. I just read on the news that the Colorado state Department of Health has a six month back log due to the nearly 1000 applications it receives daily. Well lawmakers thank your selves, you made such a big deal out of pushing these regulations you have frightened everyone into the application process fearing future restrictions. I am still curious to know how many people in Colorado legitimately qualify to be on the registry. Do you the lawmakers of Colorado have access to the statistics, telling all of us how many people in Colorado have a qualifying CMM ailment? If you do, I am curious to know has the CDHE reached that number of patients on the CMM registry. If not, what is all of the woofin’ about. Obviously if there are two million qualifying patients state wide, and only four hundred thousand on the registry the number of applications will continue to grow. If the lawmakers of Colorado don’t know approximately how many qualifying conditions exist, why not? Also if you don’t even know how many qualifying patients there are why all of the drama concerning the growth in CMM applications. I would appreciate an answer on this issue, from any of our Senators or House Representatives.

Respectfully, and sincerely
Robert Steele

Subj: Colorado Marijuana Legislation

The Honorable Attorney General John Suthers,

Digest this;
But don't expect the law and order types to line up behind the pro-pot movement. Colorado Attorney General John Suthers is chief among marijuana critics -- medical or otherwise. He has called marijuana a gateway drug. He has warned that easy access to marijuana has played a major role in the state's high school dropout rates.

Excuse me Mr. John Suthers how would you know what motivates a high school drop out? Your argument is based on speculation and bad communication. Teen dropout rates have been tracked for sixty years and no viable information concerning cause has ever been obtained due to the fault in the test. TEENS DON’T TRUST ADULTS. Everything you have ever read is bull. I know, I was involved in a nation wide survey in 1979 about the use of high school students with marijuana. It was a big deal at our school, the results where to me at that time amazing 79% of our student body had tried marijuana. 50% smoked pot on a weekly basis. 12% smoked marijuana on a daily basis. 3% smoked marijuana more than once a day. Golden Senior High School 1979, the results were so alarming to the administration and the staff of our school were restricted days after the results were released. Golden Senior High School has had an 81% Graduation rate from 1957 to 1995 I graduated in 1982.

"A lot of people say, 'He's just a dinosaur drug warrior,'" Suthers told Denver's Westword newspaper recently. "But I care about future generations, and somebody's got to have their eye on the ball ... Has anybody stopped to think the problem is too many kids are coming to school high? That's why we have the dropout rates we do."

Mr. Suthers I have my eye on the ball, I lead my family in the great tradition of my fore fathers who were miners, rail roaders, oil workers, and your average Joe. I don’t consider you a dinosaur, your just afraid, and that I can relate with that. You’re afraid of, STONERS on the corner with drugs for sale to children. I can tell you they are there! However they are not Colorado Medical Marijuana registry patients. Use your god given power of difference, drug dealer’s prey on children, CMM patients do not.

Suthers knows this matter will come down to a ballot vote in the near future.

And that is your biggest fear, that the people of Colorado will strip you of your authority to administer the state marijuana laws. Even though the rhetoric of both parties cries for prohibition. Let the people decide, and you personally spear head it, place your fears as a vote to the people, let them vote on your concerns, don’t play games with the diction of the ballot put it in plain English and let the people vote on the issues. I will stand by the Colorado Constitution and await the results.

"The Attorney General has said that the issue of legalization is an appropriate issue for Colorado to address," said Suthers's spokesperson, Mike Saccone. "But he won't be voting in favor of any legalization."
