«Oldest ‹Older 401 – 589 of 589One of the reasons why Commerce City is laughing to the bank is because of the forced annexation. Those people and businesses did not want to come to the city in that way.
Completely done wrong.
They should have been asked and worked with, not forced as Commerce City did.
The city of Commerce City had ever right to included that area as part of the city. They use our roads, but don't want to pay for them? That is not right. We are all equal. No business should get an advantage.
to pro city 3 (wonder how many procities will be in the end):
Just because you CAN do something does not mean you SHOULD.
You will go a long way with that in mind.
it was my original idea that the CC current council that is still seated give up their discretionary funds for the limos they used in DC.
I am so disappointed!
One has to wonder how much Stapleton (Denver) is laughing to the bank after any big event at Dicks Stadium (The Dick).
There was suppose to be a big announcement in August in Commerce City about the Boys & Girls club. What happened?
I think URA should buy the old malbooty club and make that a boys and girls club.
Obviously Natale was one of the people who RODE in the fancy limos in Washington DC or how else would he know about it? So why does Natale bring it up now? Why didn't he bring it up after he rode in the famcy limo that very next council meeting several years ago? And Gateway News, can you get all the expense reports and credit card reports of Natale's from the last six years along with a list of his accomplishments? It would make a great goodbye to him! And while you are at it, get the City Mismanager's too, Flannery's.
Hey Dustie
Why don't you ask the mayor to talk about the limos. Find out who ordered them and who used them. I know for a fact Orville hated that the limos were used also.
How about asking about the temple getting water without approval from city?
Just two more meetings to delay the city manager's home loan. Anyone want to place a bet?
Stapleton laughs a lot after any Dick event. People come to Stapleton to eat, drink and shop. And soon with the new I70 exit, the only time they will be in CC is in the parking lot and the stadium.
Some more numbers about Commerce City Reserves:

lets see if this milk toast council has enough in them to confront mayor paul natale on limo scandal tonight.
so someone stepped up to take on Sean Ford for Commerce City mayor. Not its a real race for all seats.
Really WHO?
GN,
can you get the list of Commerce City Council Candidates?
Commerce City Candidates who turned in signatures...
I have contacted Commerce City and am waiting for a response.
heard steve douglas in on as at-large. not kristi douglas.
The so called limo thing is being blown way out of control. The towncar service that the City had used for many years was presented to Council as more cost effective than a bunch of taxis. And Council was scheduled to arrive and depart in groups, so they were used by multiple members and staff together, not one for every member. If it was anyones fault, it was the last City Manager and staff that led the Council to believe that it was in fact more cost effective than taxis.
If I understand it correctly, as soon as it was figured out to be wrong, the contract was cancelled and now they take cabs. Why are we always looking for something to blame the Council for?
who is Robert Toavs?

For those who watched Commerce City Council meeting. You still think we are laughing all the way to the bank?
I don't understand the whole north versus south park thing in Commerce City. I would like to see some more city parks in the north.
Commerce City should cut their losses with the Buffalo Chip Golf Course and just sell it. Obviously a losing money hole.
I think the past city mnr was at fault.
I did hear that some on council took limos everywhere when they were in DC. Others only took them to their hotel, because they were at the airport waiting for them.
I understand in more recent years, council members share cabs, or are close to the conference center and walk. Some say they take the underground.
Much better in any case.
If you have ever been seen how the media works, info given may not be written about in the same contect or order.
There is no way to please some of you. I read many of the comments and just shake my head.
You complain about bad press, then complain about the specifics in an article that has been seen as positive by many (yes I know not all).
Man it is so easy to see why no one wants to step up to run for mayor. Why?
Why, would anyone put up with the abuse.
I can't imagine being out there for the crap that people throw.
That is why most of you sit here and complain, it is so much easier than getting involved.
I will vote for Toves rather than have a Ford in control again.
Hearing about the water board and S Fords deals make me remember the old stuff.
Guess we can be next in the paper, like Reyes in Adams county.
I agree the Bartel Post article is leaving out critical information. I think the limousine part is written in a way that is attempting to make a powerful point. Corruption was an issue and then Mayor came in and saved the day.
What it did at the end was only make the past and some present council look like a bunch of Schmucks.
The problem is that the CC Mayor gave the opponents of the CC Council members who want to go on to further their political career ammunition.
Mayor called out the council past and some on the present.
Don't think that this was missed by the CO House District group or the Adams County Commission group for 2012.
I cant wait until we see the commerce city mayor forums. Great entertainment.
Basically I looked at this agreement with Commerce City and the So. Adams Water District. It says, you want water, you need to become part of Commerce City.
I am wondering how one municipality can force anyone to do anything.
This needs to be tested in the courts.
Commerce City may not be put in the best positive light if water department serves water so someone outside the city and does not make them be part of Commerce City.
What if someone wants to develop an area and does not want to be part of Commerce City, but needs water. Are they going to MAKE them, FORCE them to be part of Commerce City?
I don't know about you, but that seems un-American.
Whacha you all think?
IGA with city and south adams county water and sanitation does need to be test in the court system. then when it fails, it needs to be dissolved.
Archer,
Does not matter what you "think". It is a signed legally binding agreement.
It is what it is.
Beautiful photo Gateway News.
Very Nice.
Dustin, are you going to make a new section for candidate endorsements?
Irene,
Yes... August 26th.
I like the list of potential candidates for commerce city. I like it because I see a lot of names that I never seen before. Good to have some fresh faces.
Aurora council designates land as blighted for Gaylord project.
Commerce City URA should follow suit and do the same for Dog Park in core.
Commerce City incentive program is a very good thing. It would be good to make it permanent.
Only thing I would change is some how make it even better for NEW business.
GN,
I am hearing a lot about the 27J mill levy. Do you know how much they are asking for?
I am willing to support it. Just want to know how much.
Wes,
The 27J proposal would ask taxpayers for an extra 6.3 mills.
This would generate $4.8 million annually.
On a house with a market value of $200,000, property tax would increase by around $97 a year.
What's it take to convert an HOA to a metropolitan district? If, as the man who gave public comment at city council last night said, $700,000 is saved, who picks up the cost? Who would votes in such an election? --just the people in the Dunes HOA?
Robert Toavs has run for council before. He is part of the CARZ group.
so making all these "metropolitan district" the first step in getting away from Commerce City?!?!?!?
I can NOT believe that someone said they would support toavs over ford. UNREAL!
Told you all MILK TOAST council didn't bring up anything about limousines.
Come on people - we can't complain when we have two idiots to pick from for Mayor. I'm not running and neither are you. Too bad - no choice at all....
He is part of the CARZ group? What does that even mean?
I am not as privileged as some of you with inside information?
CARZ group.
citizens against restrictive zoning. group in the south.
Wes,
No, Citizens Against Restrictive Zoning was their old name.
New Name is Citizens for Responsible Zoning.
really wish we could of had a council member who is on now to run.
NO ONE WANTS TO RUN BECAUSE IT IS TOO DAMN HARD! JUST A BUNCH OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING!
NEVER MAKE THEM ALL HAPPY!
We can break down this last Commerce City Council in 4 easy steps.
1. Derby
2. Victory Crossing
3. North Range
4. Dog Track
What do you all think, how would you grade them?
GN,
do a video interview with Toavas, PLEASE!
I think Ford has this one in the bag.
I am also getting the sense that current mayor is not a Ford fan.
Can't verify, but what I am gathering talking to others at Derby Donut shop.
Ollie,
Amazing what you can find out by talking to others and just listening!
City is very opinionated!
So can we start a CARSZ club in the north too?
A North Chapter?
maybe you all can show your support by attending the Adco planning meeting this thurs. at 130pm for the medical processing plant that is proposed!
Robert Toavs ran for Mayor last time and I think he got around 70 votes or so.
Go Sean Ford!!!
we should eliminate the mayor title and just make it another council position.
The city manager runs commerce city.
I would also like to see the education and financials of those running.
Tired of people who can't manage their personal finances making decisions that'll affect my property values even more.
I agree with education and financials.
I don't understand the whole get rid of the mayor title. Unless Tovas is elected, then YES please have an emergency election to get rid of the title.
I think one video of Tovas will seal his fate.
GN, please interview him!
GN,
I WILL PAY YOU TO DO A INTERVIEW WITH ROBERT TOAVS!
HE IS OVER THE TOP!
word on the street is that Ford as already won? Is the other candidate not qualified?
You can absolutely not judge the current council on your 4 areas of:
1. Derby
2. Victory Crossing
3. North Range
4. Dog Track
It doesn't even make sense. I can't even figure out your agenda of why these are the only 4 areas you bring up!
too bad regular CC council is too afraid of CC mayor to confront him on the limo scandal article in Denver Post.
Then again, maybe no one on council read it?
I see the point of 4 areas.
Derby is a disaster, NOTHING at victory crossing, Dog Track will be a endless money pit, North got store (thank you Shea), Way behind to say the least.
how is derby a "disaster"??????
explain yourself.

Just read the whole Gateway site. Beautiful pictures, all kinds of information and great tech!
Did Natale recant in Post some of his incorrect remarks about city?
I hope there is a big grass roots support push for the 27J ballot override this year.
If the 27J mill levy is passed in November, 27J would still be the lowest-funded district in the metropolitan area!
Please support this!
School district 27J tried this lost year. It lost by 6%. I don't know if people would go for this. Times are still really tough.
But good luck 27J/
CBR,
There is a huge grass roots movement.
Parents and Community for 27J-LOOK for them on Facebook
good to see support of the commerce city council. I did hear one person from commerce city announce he was running for council and was not on the unofficial list. maybe he will be on the final one?
I thought Commerce City was not taking a "stance" on the 27J ballot question. I got a very different impression from the meeting.
I heard Commerce City wanted 27J to come down and present to them.
Because they are so important and royal like.
27J mill levy override
did someone from cc actually say cc supports this, speaking on behalf of cc?
I seriously hope all of you are at least registered to VOTE.
If not,
The voter registration deadline is Oct. 3. To register, visit www.co.adams.co.us or www.co.weld.co.us.
easy part is over. putting it on the ballot was a no brainer. Now comes the hard part. getting it to pass.
everyone, please spread the word.
know the statistics. we desperately need this to pass.
I read the comment about the past city manager of Commerce City-
Past city manager Linkin: Chief Administrative Officer, City of Commerce City
"Tripled municipality’s financial reserves in three years from $8.5 to $32 million."
http://www.linkedin.com/in/pvandeventerjob1
Not for nothing, but forgive me if I say this might be a bit inflated.
so is steve douglas on the list or not?
A final list will be ready on Sept. 26th.
Just calm down.
Besides we all know it will be paolo and crystal.
Paolo Diaz?
I dont think so. Gene Leffel is the most qualified and anyone who knows anything knows this.
He is due to get in.
It will be Gene Leffel and Crystal Elliott.
What is with the ward II race in Commerce City. Why are all the candidates from Reunion?! Where are all the rest of the subdivision reps?
What, only Reunion wants to get involved?
how do you know they are all from reunion?
if the water district is so bad, why not get the city to take it over? only makes sense to me.
Emaciated dog impounded. A 45-year-old Commerce City man was cited for mistreatment of animals Aug. 15. A police officer was dispatched at 10:10 a.m. to a man’s house on the 5500 block of Krameria Street. Neighbors called to say the man’s dog, a black and white Labrador mix, was malnourished. An officer checked on the dog and stated the animal was severely thin and had no food or water. It was taken to the animal shelter.
Man runs from police. A 34-year-old Commerce City man was arrested Aug. 10 for interference with police officers. Police were dispatched at 6:30 p.m. to an apartment complex on the 5400 block of East 60th Avenue to investigate a domestic violence situation. Officers had to chase down the suspect in the arrest.
Assault investigated. A 51-year-old Commerce City woman was cited for assault Aug. 12. The incident occurred at about 10:15 p.m. at a home on the 17000 block of East 102nd Place. A 28-year-old man stated the woman hit him in the eye during an argument. Alcohol was involved, according to a report.
I KNOW HER! OH MY GOD! That is so SAD!
I hope she gets the book thrown at her!
everyone tries to spin commerce city, then reality comes right back and smacks everyone in the face.
Crime is in every city. So what. Crime in Commerce City is actually better then MOST!
BOR, I don't believe in voting for someone because "he is due to get in" You seriously must be do some medicinal stuff.
I want someone who I can be proud of and know really understand business, budgets and running a city.
Leffel is sure not any of those.
His "residence" is a dump, while he really lives with his "girlfriend" in her section 8 housing. Great example for our city!!
Sad to say we don't have a lot to pick from, mayor candidates are a joke.
I hope Belle Creek Obsever realizes that they are not in Ward II.
Steve Douglas is a great candidate and has a good following of voters. He is also experienced and has served on boards and commissions. He has a lot of respect. It's pretty clear that the vote will be seriously split, so Gene most likely will win. A lot of people think he's earned it. Gene is from the southern part of Commerce City.
Robert Toavs is from core Commerce City.
Think Crystal Elliot is from south commerce city.
perfect attendance in school does not make you the best student.
Crystal Elliott is from the south. But, I do not see how being from the north or south has to do with anything?
Some assume that CC residents from the south will vote for a at large candidate from the south, just because they are from the south or vice versa?
Maybe when they say it is all just a joke and people vote only because of who is their friend or who they know might really be true.
Too bad. Maybe someday we will grow up into a real city, someday.
One thing about Leffel, CC at-large candidate that you can not dispute is that he is in it from his heart. He knows more about the city then most.
one has to wonder if leffel does get on, will he be a trouble maker, like jim benson?
GN,
Can you verify if Steve Douglas is really a candidate for Commerce City 2011?
I thought I heard Douglas say he was a Commerce City Candidate at the 27J school board meeting.
Yes all cities have crime, But Commerce City takes the cake.
Walmart eye doctor case!
Nursing home case!
Hollywood Video case!
Ash Street incident!
Like I said, Commerce City takes the cake.
all is back to normal.
DP story: http://www.denverpost.com/search/ci_18754849
Commerce City is so Blessed to have such wonderful citizens.
Poor lady can't even go home because of retaliation. Hope Police are monitoring the area.
If the slashee wants to get back at the slasher, she needs to turn her in for illegal 6 inch weeds! That will show here.
bad apples in all cities.
I feel empathetic to Ms. Trujillo. I hope the vicious attacker goes to jail for a long time.
Commerce City Mayor Paul Natale seen wearing campaign tshirt that says Robert Toavs for Mayor. There you go!
Guess the people who talk about our high rate of crime, must monitor all the other metro cites.
I highly doubt they don't face the same problems, but you gotta love to complain about us.
I would love some crime stats that are real in comparison to other suburbs.
Maybe involvement in the city would help all the things people complain about so readily.
"If you aren't part of the solution, you ARE part of the problem"
"Commerce City Mayor Paul Natale seen wearing campaign tshirt that says Robert Toavs for Mayor."
NO HE WAS NOT. I am sure Paul Natale will vote for Sean Ford!
Denver POST: Adams County files racketeering suit against paving company and former employees...

Correction:
I made a comment that stated that a Commerce City Candidate Forum was in the works with the city of Commerce City and Community Enterprise.
The forum for the Commerce City Candidates will be presented by CCBPA (Commerce City Business and Professionals Association)and not the Community Enterprise organization.
I apologize for the mistake...
To be damn honest. I can't believe Adco planning commission did this.
Such a joke. 4 to 3?! This should have been a slam dunk.
Medical Waste Facility in Core part of Commerce City-
It is just a recommendation. The real decision will be with the Adams County Commissioners.
This will be the time to come out and support.
7 Adams County Planning Commissioners but yet only 3 Adams County Commissioners?
Doesn't make much sense.
Heard the mayor spoke at Medical treatment processing facility and had some choice words for business owner.
GOOD For Mayor Natale for taking a stance for a better area.
Adams Cty just passed this because they need the money. Business Tax Dollars over People! SAD!
Waste Solutions,
That site has no water and is in Adams County. So if they want water from South Adams Water, don't they have to annex into Commerce City (per the IGA)?
Medical Autoclave Facility Hearing in Adams County:
Yes Mayor Paul Natale (speaking as NOT the mayor) did stand up for Commerce City. Nicely Done.
Also, Commerce City Council Dominick Moreno (Ward One) spoke too.
Waste Solutions LLC on Brighton Road is a go with the Adams County Commissioners? Heard it will be 2 to 1? Guess we will see on Sept. 12th 10am. Place your bets!
I am very confused - is the Council firing Flannery or has he resigned? A candidate I talked to at King Soopers said that the assistant City Manager (couldn't remember his name but he has a beard) was telling them (candidate) that he is looking forward to being the City Manager? Dusty do you know anything about this?
Dustin,
You dont need to apologize for anything. Community Enterprise and CCBPA are both a joke and everyone knows it, that is why it is the same dozen members for the last 10 years!
Mayor Paul calling the medical treatment guy "condescending"
Interesting.
About the Medical Waste (biohazard) Place On Brighton Rd:
I do not trust the Adams Family Commissioners!
This is bad for those residents!
GN,
You guys have any idea who the silent partners are of Waste Solutions?
If anyone ever had any doubt that the Commerce City is not filled with people with strong opinions, you should have been at the Adams County Planning meeting yesterday. Never saw anything like that is my life.
The closest residential lot is 1/10th of a mile away!
What Jerks. All they want is the tax dollars!
Everyone who can should show up at the county commissioners meeting.
Be polite, state the concerns and let them know you are a voter.
The planning commish does not have the final say.
Let them know that we don't want this near our city residents.
Extremely Good Advice. Stay Calm, dont rant, dont attack. The facts will speak for themselves.
It very well maybe a 2 to 1 vote.
Yes there should realize the opportunity to RSS commentary, quite simply, CMS is another on the blog.
A word to the wise about the medical treatment facility on Brighton rd.---
Remember the one planning commish said that the rudeness almost made him change his vote to a recommendation.
Attack issues, not people.
Be polite. The fact will speak for themselves on Sept 12th 10am at Adams Cty public hearing room.
Lets hope the top 3 decision makers (3 ELECTED commissioners)
good advice warren, but it is hard when it is effecting your life personally.
I hate this whole situation!
I know the property values are going to take a major hit if this facility medical dump comes!
First 2 of the 3 Commissioners are term limited, they do not need your vote. Second, the unincorporated area surounded by Comm. City is the breading ground for anything, anyone want to dump in Comm. City such as marijuana facility, unincorporate citizens would have a bigger voice in Comm. City then they have in Adams County, is annexization a thought? Third and last, is that people need to be educated on approaching Commisions and Board members with facts not personal attackes on members of these bodies and the organizations needing their votes.
Looks like Alice Nichol can run again. She was one that is said to be for the medical waste on Brighton rd.
http://alicenichol.com/aboutalice.html
Adams County voters in 2008 approved term limit extensions for the county’s commissioners.
Both can re-run, am I wrong?
Skip can run too.

How come the commerce city council is not discussing the citizen communication procedure. It was on for 2 weeks in a row and taken off both weeks. Now it is not on at all?
What's the story?
That is a lot of Christians at Dick's Park!
We attended the bike race in Golden today. Maybe next year they can ride somewhere in Commerce City.
I don't know about a cycles. But I think a marathon around the rocky mt. arsenal would be a great idea.
So sad about the med waste plant in core CC. I am going to be very disappointed if ADCO Commissioners approve this.
So many other BETTER place for this to go!
At the August 22 council meeting, Dunes Park HOA member, Charles Wolfenberger proposed becoming a Metro District. In the Director of Parks and Rec report, Carolyn Heath commented that the expectation of Parks and Rec is that HOA's provide their own parks for each HOA location and has nothing to do with City Parks. Mr. Wolfenberger said that if the Dunes HOA converted to a Metro District, "it could save up to $700,000 over these next ten years." This would give HOA's the money needed to build their own parks. Mr. Wolfenberger could you put your contact information on this blog?
Councilman Benson said that Parks and Rec spends about 5 times more on the South than the North these past ten years. Carolyn Heath said that the Open Spaces and Trails add up to about the same coverage in the North as the South's Parks. However, children can not play on the Open Spaces and Trails. Mr. Moreno said that monies collected up North can be spent on the entire city. Mr. Benson would like to see the recently returned money to the Northern fund, 3 to 4 million, spent on the two promised parks between Second Creek and Stuart Middle School.
FYI:
Medical marijuana is not allowed in Adams county proper (meaning home rule cities can have their own laws) but areas in the county cannot have medical maryjane.
As mentioned before term limits were increased to 3 terms, so two of the commissioners are up for re-election.
nice plane shot!
on completely different subject, any word on the excel pipeline that is suppose to go thru my neighborhood?
Your plane picture for some reason just made me think of it. weird.
gn,
start the candidate endorsement section. lets get the show on the road.
Carolyn Keith is the Parks and Recreation Director.
September 1 is $$$$$ day for Flannery. Will he pay back the city for his house loan- almost a half milion? Will council cave in again? Has he been worth this money plus his high salary and benefits?
I also heard the lady planning commissioner say attack issues, not people.
Such a cliche! So sick of cliches!
What happens when the issue is the PERSON! Ever think of that!
Without "Medical Waste Magee" we would not be in this predicament!
Next meeting is Sept 12th at 10am
Your Pearl Harbor re-enactment photo is AMAZING! Very talented!
does commerce city get anything out of all these events at dicks park?
Or just lots of traffic and street wear?
Sorry, I knew it was one or the other. Also, found out it was Charles Wolfersberger who is in the phone book for anyone wanting more info on Metro Districts. The point is that we now have the money for those two parks up North and if not, could borrow from the South like they did from us? Since, "a park is a park!" I would like to have a fountain in at least one of them.
is there another free day at the dump this year?
why such a negative approach to the medical waste facility. It's just an autoclave sterilizing business. as in steam and pressure....as in water that have surpassed boiling point at this altitude...
There are more toxins treated and released into the atmosphere/community at the water treatment facility and a lot of people drink that stuff after it's treated. more airborne toxics ppm from the farm lands, the dump..Just my opinion based on my inadequate ed-u-ma-cation...lol
rebuttal welcome
Gateway, I would like to know if Robert Toavs voted in the last two elections.
WE are supporting Angel Anderson and Dave Rolla all the way in the Adams 14 race! They just might be able to breathe life back into the district! People are really excited that they are running.
GN,
I was told there would be more candidates for ACSD#14 then just 5. Maybe these was a miscommunication?
To: medical waste facility, rebuttal welcome:
The fact that they will be allowed to hold the waste for 48 hours untreated in really gets my goat!
I can not imagine the pests (rodents, mosquitoes, flies) that will get in and out with god knows what, passing to god knows who.
Not to mention lets all hope that one of those autoclaves will not have a mishap and blow a gasket, spilling and leaking into the ground.
Heard Commerce City council was another hot one! Water District (SACWSD) doing some kind of a weird quirky deal with Temple out on 120th and Tower (part of Brighton Growth Area).
Brighton has no plan for water to come there, so South Adams Water needs to supply it. But the Temple will need to annex into Commerce City if they want to do that (part of the IGA Commerce City has with South Adams Water). Remember they (the Temple) are currently in the growth area of Brighton.
All of this because the well the Temple has is full of chemicals that is not good for human consumption. Temple is trucking in water from Arvada!
At the end of the day a lot of lessons are going to be learned.
Commerce City staff seem to think Brighton is just going to let Commerce City annex this away from them, with nothing in return.
Common sense would tell me that Brighton may want some of Commerce City's growth area in return, or hell, Brighton may even want some money for it.
Either way, there is NO love between these 2 cities. The outcome should be very interesting to say the least.
Some say "All the Singh Temple want is a temporary solution for their water problem".
I say Commerce City should really think about this. It will set a standard for the rest of the future.
How did Commerce City Council Jim Benson get the Commerce City staff to put together a Ward 2 meeting with King Soopers officials and no one knew about it on the rest of council?
I thought it was the policy to ask the ENTIRE Commerce City council for permission to have city staff work on something that would take more then 30 minutes of the City Staff's time?
Are we not going to follow our own Council policies? What kind of an example is this for our 15 new candidates waiting in the wings of city hall?
Are we NOT a city of rules and policies? If Council is going to break them all of the time. One would have to ask, why do we even have them at all?
Am I right?
Former Brighton Collegiate Teacher Sentenced...

CC Citizens,
Your free trash ride days are numbered! No more entitlements for you!
-27 years of free trash service. They always seemed to work it out. Why is this year different?
Not enough revenue, too much expenditures. (still laughing to bank?)
CC property tax does not even cover trash service.
Okay,
where does it state anywhere that CC property tax will cover trash service?
If CC could have developed some of its many areas such as Victory Crossing, The old ACHS, Derby, The North. Would we not have tax revenue to pay for the trash?
Bottom line is that CC failed in increasing revenue, so they need to pass the problem onto the residents.
I got an idea, cut CC staff by 2 million dollars. Do it for 2 reasons, first, we will get free trash service. Second, see if anyone really notices.
RE: Proposed Medical Facility on Brighton Rd.
I agree with Commerce City Council member Jason McEldowney; Commerce City needs to send a letter to the Adams County Commissioners saying that they are SHOCKED that the planning commission is recommending this to then with so much opposition and facts of negative impact it will have on the residents in the area.
If I was Commerce City, I would also send this same letter to "Medical Waste Magee" too. Just so he is in the loop with how Commerce City feels.
WHOS READY FOR SOME PHISHHHHHH!
Phish at the Dick this weekend!
If Commerce City would listen to the citizens during citizens communication this medical waste issue would be dead already.
Commerce City needs to enact a ordinance that would keep these types of facilities away from residential areas. Let say at least a 1000 feet.
If they do this now, then it will not be an issue in the future. Don't do this and Commerce City is going to end up grandfathering in the proposed facility on Brighton Rd.
Already rumored to pass the Adams County Commissioners 2 to 1.
Most likely the Adams County Commissioners will pass this because it has been deemed safe by other agencies (tri-county) and it is being pro-business.
Commerce City does zoning ordinances all of the time. They have them for the Medical Marijuana establishments, they even have one for a race track. One would assume this would be no different. Except for it is a real safety and health issue.
Come support the opposition on Monday Sept 12th at 10am at the Adams County Government Building.
This really is a bad idea in that proposed location.
So many other, much better places this can go.
Mayor Natalie is breaking the cardinal rule of Ronald Regan: "Thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican."
Trash Talk:
RE: Commerce City entertaining the idea of getting rid of the free trash service.
Maybe it is time for Commerce City to look at furlough days.
Given the population demographics of Commerce City, I see NO reason at all to punish them with a fee because city can't control its spending.
Other options: Have enough guts to bring it to the people as a tax.
Or, Cut the spending. 2 million dollars out of 45 million is not too much to ask for.
Besides, are we not "laughing all the way to the bank?
trash talk,
I would be in support for the residents picking up the tab on trash.
But, I would like it to be a 50/50 split with Commerce City residents and Commerce City staff. Charge residents 1 million and City staff cut 1 million.
This is the only fair thing to do. We are all in this together.
There is too much of a mentality of City staff vs. City residents.
If staff TRULY care about Commerce City, I see no reason why this would be an issue.
Rumor is Commerce City Council member said Jason McEldowney said it is as simple as either we start paying for our trash or we will not have roads!
jason did say that. thank god for video, you will see it for yourself, watch channel 8 this week.
city is trying to spin this as no fee, no capitol improvement projects (2 million).
Never mind the fact that this in NOT the only option.
City can cut spending across the board, maybe do a furlough day or, maybe take it out of reserves.
about the trash talk in Commerce City,
I am completely in disagreement. People need to pay for their trash service.
I have lived in 11 different cities in the US and never was trash service just given to me, except for in Commerce City.
Maybe we can get trash for free in Commerce City again when all that China money comes. When is that again?
Commerce City is used to hand outs,
take it away and people will get upset.
Stop your whining and pay for your trash! It is only $8 to $10 a month!
Maybe don't get starbucks one day! Or eat at home one night!
Can Natale dislike Benson and Larry Ford any more? it is so obvious. He is so rude on his 'pulpit'. I am so glad he is leaving!!
Commerce City Drama-
Mayor Natalie has axe to grind with the Fords, any insight of how all this is?
Because of recall?
ps - residents do need to start paying for their trash pickup.
FINE! I will pay for trash service in Commerce City. Under the condition that the money does NOT go into the general fund. It goes towards a specific item, such as a Boys and Girls Club on the new Dog Track.
Why would the money received for trash pick up not just go to pay for trash pick up. Does not seem that the city will be collectng more then it is charged.
Thank you Tracey Snyder for once again being one of the few who really stands up and fights for us! We know you are a firm NO on taking away free trash at a time when people cannot afford to keep their homes or food on the table!
There are so many people talking about Dominick Moreno right now! Shame on him for insulting the past Mayors and Councilmembers of our town, saying they are double dipping because they get a tiny retirement! And to make matters worse, he voted twice to take away our free trash!
Word on the street is that he is going to finally admit he is going to run for the State House seat against Tracey. Just think if this is the way he does things at the local level, we cannot afford to have him represent us at the State!
Team Tracey-stay strong! We need you more than ever!
Dominick Moreno picked this petty issue of elected official pension as his hill.
Not even a drop in the bucket for CC budget.
At it is going to do is make a bunch of people upset at him.
Dominick's stance on elected officials retirement fund-
Some things are not all about the money or financial impact. Some things are for the principal of the matter.
A good lesson for ANY politician, Republican and Democrat (even newly flipped Democrats).
Why would the money received for trash pick up not just go to pay for trash pick up. Does not seem that the city will be collecting more then it is charged.
Your Right!
Heard CC Council Carson say that annexing the temple on 120th would not be cost effective.
There will be no snow removal. It is not an emergency route. Even I don't get CC snow removal (Reunion). No trash service. They only get Police Service.
Bottom line I think it is cost effective.
Want to cut costs so we don't pay for trash or we pay some but not total trash bill- how about one City Manager who can do their own intergovernmental relationships like all previous City Managers - should save about $500,000 a year - Flannery might have to do something related to running a City rather than what he does now - which is - some of us are still trying to figure that out.
I am so pissed. How dare Benson and others push to give our water away.
As several council members mentioned, who would build a building without testing for their water??
Really??
Now, we should give in and set up a prescendance that would open the door for anyone else.
I am so sick of these "deals" dealers.
What right do they have to change the agreement.
We gain nothing, but lose lots.
I heard S. Ford was involved and he got a trip to India as part of the deal.
I am going to wait until the new section is posted. I don't want my comments lost here.
