Sorry, Estelle, don't know where you got your info from. It is completely wrong.

Jeannette Lewis definately will go down in history-probably in the State of Colorado. Censured. It says it all.

Estelle, Sean Ford left the city with reserves in tact.

Strange story on the school bus incident.

Someone should tell Ellen Haug that her signs are not suppose to be strung all over in the right of ways.

Has the big bad bully attacked the 4 school board members yet? Or has see finely seen the truth about herself? Will Lewis see the light at the end of the tunnel and admit she has a problem? Will Adams 14 ever recover from this? God I hope so.

JRG said...

You’re giving the Big Bad Bully too much credit. She just an old, mean biddy that can’t treat anyone with respect unless they have some sort of clout in the community. The 3 board members (why count Klocker) stood up to her and refused to allow her to verbally abuse them and disrespect them any longer. Her followers would lead people to believe that she is a pillar of the community, but the truth is many people don’t trust her or feel that she will do anything on their behalf if they had concerns. I’m sure that not a one of the three board members that spoke out against her went home happy about what they did, but felt that it was the message they had to get out. If you ever watched a BOE mtg. on channel 8, you would see her reprimanding one of the three almost every meeting. We don’t know how she treated her fellow BOE members during executive sessions. I agree with what they had to do and I feel that it had reached the point where it wasn’t a minor infraction, but a constant violation of their character. She felt it was no more than a slap on the hand anyway. Good luck to the new board members that will be elected soon as well as the remaining members . Larry, you are a man with such integrity and conscience, I hope you are elected so the board can start anew with a group of people that can restructure the way things have been done in the past in effort to put our district back on the right track.

Anonymous said...

Estelle you are right on a number of counts.
For one Ford (or who ever gets the mayor position) will be one vote.
People forget that.
As for Fords last run, he did abuse the city credit card.

Archer said...

Being up for a censure as Lewis was as the president of d14 is one thing.
Have the vote go down as 4 to 1 is a complete other. the entire board agreed minus lewis (and even she had second thoughts, I bet.)

Point is, it is a big message.

I just don't know what it is as of yet.

If that was my daughter or son - I would have broke the bus door down!

End FREE trash service said...

Jim Benson Said: “People right now only pay $60, $70 a year to Commerce City, about 3 mills people pay for property tax. That’s not even enough to pay for trash pickup, so people are getting a good deal. But it’s a traditional thing that the city provides trash pickup and it ensures that everybody knows when they’re trash pickup day is and they get their garbage out.” “And if we go to charging for it, some people are going to pay the bill and some aren’t, and if they don’t pay the bill, the trash isn’t going to be picked up. And then what happens to it? Does it wind up in their back yard or dumped out on the street someplace? It’s just not a workable thing.”

I say CC residents have more pride then that. We need to stop acting like a charity case and pay for our own trash service.

Enough of Gov. paying for us.

Lets grew up and just do this.

It is our city and most (99%) want it to be a nice community.

No More Gov. Freebies!

Archer said...

I can understand your point.

I disagree, but I understand. For me it is the promise made with TABOR and De-Brucing.

But more important.

What services should a city be doing for the Residents and want services should the city NOT be doing for the residents.

That is a good question if anyone has an answer to it.

Sevices city should provide?

Police and streets.

Let ED be handles by a chamber of commerce, of course we would need to create one (biggest down in commerce city).

Take over so called "dinosaur".

I dont think so!
I am GLAD water and sewer are not controlled by commerce city.

They would only look at water revenues as a cash cow. They would take that money and spend it on consultants for more council policies that never get followed or trips to China for mysterious economic opportunities.

I say keep our water bills AWAY from commerce city. Keep them safe at SACWSD!

Taking over the water district is needed, but will cost the city to acomplish.
Plus there are some who would fight it because they have gained much over the years by being involved in it.
It does cost us (cc users) money.
It is tough to make big changes with the old powerful in control.

Estelle Remington said...

Money

One can say that I say a lot about Sean Ford's previous administration for CC and if you personally have not lived here at that time you really have no way of knowing all of the back room deals that have occurred and the money that was spent above what the city proviso was for services rendered. When, certain council members arrived at a destination every thing was upgraded and money was no object. All in the name of travel expense or of a city doing business under Perry Vandeventer's management. All of the money and charges for this city went through Perry's signature. As a city, we never want to go back to those dark days. Why is Mayor Paul Natale so bitter about those times? Because, he was a council member and saw first hand the corruption going on from the inside out. The Mayor has a right to be bitter because people today are not listening to what were the true facts! And, I feel that the Mayor was not given full information on the current CM and huge mistakes were made when he was hired because of misplaced trust. This city trusted Flannery to tell the truth in a timely manner. We need to realize with all elections, there is an P&R spin being put out there by professionals that know what they are doing and are paid high salaries to do so. Not just people writing into a blog.

In 2006-2007, the admissions tax for Kronke was never approved for a vote for the taxpayers by city council and when it finally was put on the ballot, Kronke threatened to pull out of CC saying it would cost customers too much to pay for a ticket. A bottle of beer at a soccer game costs above $6 and an admissions tax would only cost 8.3% of a ticket. Which would cost Kronke nothing. This admissions tax vote was sponsored by Jim Benson to help pay for a Boys and Girls club for CC and only until that cost of 7 million was paid off, then it would go to the taxpayers. Hence, it was not the admissions tax that failed to pass but the fact that the Boys and Girls club was part of the question. People did not want to pay 7 million to build the Boys and Girls Club and another 2 million to support each year. I would like to see the admissions tax put back up for a vote.

I know that they history of the city travel policy was as you have stated. That is why some of us are so very disappointed that no one else came forward to run for mayor.
I pray we do not return to the old ways. I hope all will watch those on council.

Supporters of Jeannette Lewis said...

OPEN LETTER

This is an open letter to all the voters, residents and citizens of Adams #14 School District.

We are the supporters of President Mrs. Jeannette Lewis.

We are shocked and saddened over the recent actions of the Adams #14 School board. The so-called, self imposed censure of our School board President or any of the board members was unfair and disrespectful to the office of elected power.

To censure an individual for having a strong personality is unheard of.

The other school board members who took it upon themselves to engage in this act are full grown men. We find it very difficult to understand how Mrs. Lewis could intimidate anyone, much less these full grown men. Maybe what should be looked at it is the charterer of the other 4. Are they so sensitive that they are not able to handle one person who maybe outspoken?

Mrs. Lewis has gone above and beyond her duty when it came to the proposed medical waste facility in the district’s boundaries. She truly has the entire district’s good at her heart at all times.

Because of these recent events,
It is our opinion that none of the incumbents be re-elected for 2011. It is our opinion that a re-call should be looked at for the remaining board members. It is our opinion that the board should reverse the decision and clear it from the public record. Lastly, it is our opinion that an apology should be issued to Mrs. Lewis by all four of the board members who vote on this. This apology should be in public and aired on channel 8 in Commerce City.

ps- Those of you thinking the Mrs. Lewis, know this. Like a tea bag, the longer in and hotter the water is the stronger she will get.

Join us, NO on KLOCKER NO on QUINTANA!

Anonymous said...

I just completed my mail-in ballot and did not vote for any of the Adams 14 incumbents. I like Klocker, but throwing Lewis under the bus a month before she leaves the board is silly. Vashaw said that she goes after board members with a vengeance, but this censure is the most vengeful thing anyone could do. We need to elect 3 new board members and then recall the other 2 ASAP. Someone posted a video from June 2009 and said this is a reason for the censure. Two years ago? Grow up!

Lewis comparing herself to a tea bag. For tea to be good, you just pour the hot water (for white and green tea, not ever boiling) over the tea or steep it for just a couple of minutes. The hotter the water, the longer it steeps, the more it is bitter and not drinkable.

To supporters of Lewis:

She has you so afraid that you don't put your name. I don't think you support her. But then again she may have made you put this on here with her strong personality(bullying). Her STRONG PERSONALITY has bullied even the previous board, that's a strong personality of (bullying). By the way it's not allowed in the schools, the kids can't get away with it. Why should Mrs. Lewis get away with it. This goes all the way back to John Lange, and previous B.O.E. members DOES SHE OWE THEM AN APOLOGY? Yes she sure does, will she ever do it ? NO she won't. Further more for her to treat Bill Klocker the way she has is an out right shame. He stood by her side no matter what she has done. Just maybe he saw the light. You keep saying our opinion Not to brave. How quick you are to turn on Bill. The voters will elect whom they want in. Let the voters speak. Lewis got caught with her pants down now she must reap what she sews. that is not even harsh enough for her.
STOP LETTING LEWIS BULLY YOU INTO HER WAY OF THINKING.

I WON'T SIGN MY NAME EITHER CAUS E I DON'T SUPPORT.

Bullying in Adams 14 is finally going to stop! The BOE started at the top and now it has to stop at all levels of Adams 14. Dr. Sue Chandler, Administrators and Principals need to stop, cease and discest!! The AP's need to follow. We have some teachers that follow the lead too. Then we can TEACH the students that this type of behavior will not be tolerated in Adams 14 any longer. We need to send a clear message to students, staff, parents, The BOE, and community members that bullying will not be tolerated any longer in Adams 14!!!!!! As per BOE POLICY!!!!!!!! The kids say the bulling in school is mostly verbal just like Lewis. The teachers say it's a lot of bully talk then they are asked to resign. The students, the parents and the whole community see this. We need a new start in Adams 14. Our children need a better education without bullying.

Thank you BOE. Thanks Adrian, Larry, Robert and even Bill. You guys ROCK.

Fact is Commerce City is so top heavy with staff. The city will continue to function with no problem.

MacBroom as manager with Acres as an assist will be just fine.

City will not even skip a beat.

Council should not give them any pay raise as they did for clemmins.

They can use the down economy if they want.

Commerce City has a problem with treating their City Managers as a friend.

The goodbyes on Oct. 24th should be a good show of this.

Anonymous said...

Two cents from someone in the know -Clemmens would be a great interim City Manager. he has almost 40 years of experience working for this City, has been the interim City Manager several times and is well respected by the staff, the community and other organizations close to the City. He will create stability during a transition. McBroom should be considered as a candidate for the replacement City Manager. Tom Acre, to my knowledge hearing from many who have worked with him or work for the City is that he is unqualified for and incompetent in his current job and is sadly the laughing stock of the City. The City Council should consider talking to a variety of top level staff like the Department Directors and Managers about the interim situation and who they believe is qualified and capable of "holding down the fort"until a new Manager is hired.

I think this was Flannery's plan all along to eventually get out of this position. However, he set himself up financially for thousands of dollars on CC money and took a trip to Germany. He plucked us clean. And let's not forget those employees that had to sue the city because of on the job treatment. They are the forgotten ones in all of this because they lost jobs/careers that they liked doing. I have no sympathy for a man who always put himelf and his welfare before our entire city. I feel he set CC up for his departure with two deputy managers. In fact, I don't think he ever really ran the city. Flannery's skill was as a team builder. Brian McBroom is truly a good man and he will do everything in his power to build us up. I hope he stays with us for years to come. We really are in good hands and I don't think we will miss a beat.

As CM Flannery departs we need a strong council to brace itself against deals already in progress should Sean Ford become Mayor. Jerry Flannery was not perfect, but pretty darn good

by a Commerce City Insider

Mr. Flannery created and executed policies and procedures that were never implemented in the history of this city. A level of professionalism that again has never been seen before in Commerce City ever.

Mr. Flanney was able to attract and bring us some of the best talent in the entire state. Just one example is the Chief of Police Mr. Baca.

We are completely setup to move this city effortlessly and in a positive direction.

Despite the efforts of some to criticize the current organizational chart. I can tell you for a fact that it is setup in a way that ensures accountability and efficiency.

I can only hope that whoever takes the city over next will keep a lot if not all the practices intact.

At the end of the day, The residents and council got their monies worth.

Mr. Flannery did lack in the financial area, but at the end learned very quickly and did have a great sense of professionalism. Most important he was able to get things done.
Not as easy as it sounds in a down economy and many many many challenges with the council.

I also feel like we are at a new level.

Let's all hope that the City Council ask a few questions of the other staff and other agencies before they promote one of the Deputies. Flannery did not do this and it has been a disaster - McBroom is well respected and has credibility with the staff and the comunity - the same cannot be said for the other deputy. I have been told that prior to being promoted he had never supervised one person in the City or anything else for that matter - he was just Natale's buddy and still is.

Why is everyone assuming it will be McBroom?
Why not Arce?
Has it already been decided?

Because of the policies put in place by CM Flannery, Commerce City was able to weather the economic storm very well.

Where many others had to layoff employees or do furloughs, Commerce City has not.

We have great reserves and are in pretty good financially.

If any council member can bring NASCAR to Commerce City with the 9 mile Benson Rule in place, I say that will the best day ever.

Make no mistake the North was Not against NASCAR, it was against the location being a rocks throw away from residential.

I would vote for anyone who can bring NASCAR to Commerce City with the 9 mile Benson Rule being followed.

I think I know what the massage is Archer.

I think the rest of Adams 14 will see they need to listen to the parents, kids and the majority of the BOE and start moving this district forward. To fix the problems before they hit the news. To educate our children like they are suppose to. It's there JOB. Do your dam job or go away.

I think the residents of CC need to start looking at things for themselves. Flannery is leaving to go work for Shea Homes. The same Shea Homes that CC give $3million to for a King Suppers to be built in the North. Does anybody find that strange?
Now about the house that was bought by CC for Flannery, if he paid the city back where did the money go? What fund is it in? Did he even pay it back? Does the Gateway even know where the money is?
Oh and the Highlands Ranch Community Association is a non-profit that you can find information about online. If I read the information correct he will be getting a pay raise.

I know Sean Ford well. He was a good mayor and he will do even better this time around. My picks are Steve Douglas, Dr. Sumner and Rick Teter. Rick Teter knows more about Ward 4 than any person. Dist. 14, supporting Larry Quintana and Angel Anderson.

I think it is great that Commerce City is starting this Quality Community Initiative.

But if we learned anything, it sounds like again a bunch of talk.

The markets will dictate when things will happen.

I am still curious about how Victory Crossings, Dog Track (prior to city buying it), Old ACHS site, Derby (lets be honest, not really a success), and of course the north (some successes but long from where is should be) are still not taking off?

What are we doing wrong?
Answer is nothing. The Markets will rebound and then things will start happening.

But I guess it is good to sit around and talk about it, I guess.

Since the public vote for the interim city manager, was 100% in favor of Mcbroom, the other info should never have been released. Info about personel is not public info when done in a executive session.

Colorado citizens see this as a dumping ground for illegals and source of polluting the state with it's refineries, tractor trailers and industrial waste. I can only imagine how difficult it is to get businesses other than trucking and industrial to buy what we're selling.
Reality check: New home builders in the north do all they can to disassociate with cc in sales and advertising to get people to buy homes. How many people say "I live in the north range or what ever sub division. They don't say cc, to embarrassing. Just watch what happens when a new zip code is created.
