CITIZEN NOT SURPRISED BY ACTIONS OF “THREESOME” ON ACSD14 BOARD
Well, I am not surprised by anything the “threesome” on the Adams County District 14 School Board does. I guess it’s true, that birds of a feather really do flock together! Mr. Vashaw and Mr. Quintana, all I can say is that I had no idea what cowards you both are; allowing yourselves to be bullied in such a manner. I can say now that you have all exposed yourselves for what you really are. Your firing of Superintendent Dr. Lange was obviously done out of malice and contempt; and only for the suffering of the children, community, and yes, even the entire city. Right now I am speechless, so all I can say at this point is shame on you for your senseless act. I hope the citizens who put you in your elected positions are brave enough to stand up to you, and are prepared to do whatever it takes to get you out. God-willing, I’m hoping all of you have abused your power for the last time.

REAL TALK (PART ONE)
Richard A Ford Sr.

Greetings once again Adams County School District 14 residents. I had the pleasure of attending the Topping Off Celebration for the new Adams City High School/Community College Facility last Friday. It was yet another great mild-stone in the building of a better and brighter future for the citizens of Commerce City. I anticipated seeing numerous individuals who deserved recognition for their roles in making a great dream come true and together thanking the hard working crews of construction workers for building such a beautiful building. Unfortunately the reality of seeing such board members like Lewis, Quintana, and Vashaw sat heavily in the pit of my stomach. You see, I did not look forward to witnessing these three individuals in particular taking any enjoyment in the celebration. It is not easy for me to admit such a thing but I have stated before that I will always be honest with you and not try to portray a false representation of myself. Watching these three individuals who in my opinion share a desire to destroy public education and promote the charter school vision take any gratification from the hard work of others will never sit well with me. As I attempted to focus on the joy found in the faces of the kids I could not stop myself from thinking about how brighter this day could have been. With the newly elected school board running at full steam, things continue to dim. The first year of decline after seven years of gain. The first year without the insurance of having a highly sought out superintendent like Dr. John Lange after years of great service and improvements under his guidance. The first year of placing the value of "Working Together" over the value of "Truth" to the public they took an oath to serve. There are times that I wish I did not know what I know now. I have not only been subjected to, but have witnessed the unconscionable behavior of elected board members both past and present. I know how it's suppose to work and in my opinion under the current leadership of President Jeannette Lewis it's not working. I wish to conclude today's article with saying that as I write each article I do so with the threat of frivolous lawsuits in the back of my mind - but we can not live in fear. Let the truth be revealed and let’s take back our district.

Thanks for reading,

REAL TALK (PART TWO)
Richard A. Ford Sr.
My intention this week was to go over the Team Building Workshop I attended Saturday September 6, 2008 for the Adams County School District 14 Board of Education. I will of course give you my opinion on the matter but will also share my thoughts on the firing of Dr. John Lange at the last board meeting.

I felt that it was important for me to attend the team building workshop because I wanted to allow the board of education an opportunity to prove me wrong so to speak. I have been very critical of their ability to make sound decisions when it comes to the welfare of Adams County School District 14 and I was hoping that Lewis, Vashaw, and Quintana were sincere in their desire to work together leaving their personal agendas behind. It didn't take very long for me to see that both district money and time was being thrown out the window once again. When asked what everyone’s goal focus was, only Klocker, Kreutzer, and Dr. Lange stayed in line with what the CADI report recommended. Quintana went off into left field once again and was even cautioned by the mediator that he tends to preach too much. Perhaps the preaching would not have been a problem if only he was able to focus on the issue? Both Lewis and Vashaw showed little interest and offered even less participation. During one activity the board was divided into two groups. Klocker, Vashaw, and Lewis in one. Dr. Lange, Kreutzer, and Quintana in the other. They went off into their break-out session just to have Ms. Kreutzer return shortly after visibly upset. When they returned it was obvious that Larry Quintana did not feel comfortable discussing the issue especially with the public in attendance. At least they all agreed on one thing that TRUST was problem number one. Unfortunately for all of us who they promised to serve that problem is not going away and in my opinion the reason is because Lewis, Quintana, and Vashaw were not willing to discuss it. Then why spend taxpayer’s money on a work-shop for nothing? Was it to make it look like they were trying? When a board chooses to focus on their personal motives it's the kids that loose and with this board the kids are loosing big time.

After all is said and done the district has lost a valuable employee. Dr. Lange thank you for all the years of supporting kids in this district. Thank you for reaching out to the students and letting them know that they have a right to be proud of who they are and where they come from. After so many years of moving forward it is hard to watch the district take steps backward. It is my hope that Vashaw, Quintana, and Lewis will not be allowed to continue much longer.

Thanks for reading,
Richard A Ford Sr.

Wonder if the Gateway News will delete any of Richard's critical positing, like they did when he was being criticized in the previous blog.

I kinda doubt it, he seems to be the favored child of Gateway News.

I think it was the idea that people were attacking Richard Ford KIDS!

You have to be NUTS to think that is okay. Or maybe that way of thinking is what is wrong with this whole district!

There were several posts that were deleted that said nothing about his kids, its not their fault who their parents are.

They were posts that directly attacked the Children on Richard Ford.

NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Okay lets make a bet everyone. I bet the school board makes some kind of a motion tonight that wants to kick Angela off the board for some kind of residency issue.

Angela could fight it and win, but then again it would cost legal fees and once again takes away from the kids.

What a real mess!

Admire the effort, but Colorado is an at will state. My understanding is that they can fire him for pretty much whatever reason they want.

You know how they say that God only gives you what you can handle? Well God thinks i'm one tuff lady. These past two years have been very difficult, both privately and publicly. Richard and I have never said that we are better than anyone else. As parents we face the same daily chalenges that every other parent faces. It is even true to state that other parents "do it better" or have better success then us. But we are never at a loss of love for one another. So to all of you who think we are the worst mother and father on the face of the earth I can only honor your God given right as an American to feel the way you feel, and say what you want to say. In the end it is the opinion of my God, my priest, my fiends, and my very own parents that I seek.
As for the poor little girl victim spin going on, I want to state this. I would never have thought that I would feel obligated to bolgg my private life like this. But what else can I do. Everyone tells me it's a waste of time. That I will never be able to change the way certain people feel about me or my family. I guess I'm doing this because there are people out there who HATE me and my husband. They dont care about my children. They only want to hurt and cause pain. I believe that the only reason why people do that is because at some point I must have hurt them. This is my time to say I'm sorry for being the sourse of your bitterness and pain but I have no regrets. The first time this story surfaced was back when my husband ran for the school board the first time. The nameless writer wrote word for word what the previous blogg stated. I of course speculated who the author was. If my suspisions were correct then it was my opinion that she had every right to be angry. Latter the story surfaced again, this time through the distrubution of a nameless flyer throughout the district. Then an email - same language almost word for word with even more inaccurate facts. I didnt reccognize the email address but I kept it, as a matter of fact I still have the original email parch@---------. One day as I was checking out the alumni page on the Adams City High School web page I seen it. It shot out at me from the screen parch@_______. My suspisions were confirmed. I knew why the hate intertwined in the words felt so personal. I made a copy of the individulas contact information so as to have proff of the authors identity using the same email address linked to the email containg the same false accusations. I made the connection between this individual and the fire department and continued connecting the dots to employees and even board members. I was asked if I wanted to pursue the matter but declined. I talked my husband into letting it go as well for the sake of his oldest son. Now to that. Richard Ford Sr has never denied his oldest son. When he ran for the school board the first time he stated in numerous publications that he was the father of four. He even stated that his oldest son was from a previous marriage. Latter his publications stated that he had three kids in the district. This is a true statement because his oldest son had graduated. His more recent publication now state that he has two kids in the district. Does that mean he now denies his oldest daughter as well? Of course not. But spin where you can spin to distract and insite hate. Finally once again, when my husband and I started dating it was with the written permission of the administrators and my mother. (No Dr. Lange was not a principal nor was he a Superintendent at the time)I was 18 years old and without child. Tomorrow 9/24/2008 we will celebrate our 20th year anniversary, still so in love still full of hope for the future.

"Evil Exists When Good Men Do Nothing" is as true today, as in the past. I honor the Ford Family, and all other couragous good people in Adams 14, who are fighting against the three board members who fired one of our state's top educational leaders, and a man who fought for student achievement for 15 years in Adams 14 School District. It was the way they did their dastardly deed that shows what kind of people these three really are. What kind of example have you given children in Adams 14? It was a very evil thing to do, and many, many, people are upset and NOT going to take it.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am saddened by the firing of Dr. John Lange.  He has done so much for our schools and community.  I am sure just because some test scores are low doesn't mean to fire a man who has done so much.  I am sure it will be a hard task to fill the shoes of this man.  How can the School board vote to get rid of him with no comments as to why? I am sure this was a vote that was tampered with.  For over 10 yrs Dr. Lange has been with the District and has done absolutely nothing wrong to deserve this kind of departure. I am sure after all the bonds the citizens of Commerce City have voted for to make our schools better under his watch we are going to let him go.  If he wasn't doing well for our schools, the citizens of Commerce City would have asked to impeach him as the Superintendent of School District 14.

WOW!!!! some people are just amazing...What do you think your God would say about someone who breaks up a marriage? I know what mine would say. Well, maybe its not all your fault you were much younger then he was. But once again right is right and wrong is wrong!!! Breaking up a marriage is wrong!

I think it is time that you and your husband both realize that HE was not voted for! GET OVER IT!!!
Honestly not many people care what he thinks. His thinking is always one sided.

Just grow up and admit defeat!

I am proud of you and I strongly believe that you are truly leaders in our community.

The adults in our community can learn a lot from you. We are sincerely blessed to have such great kids in our district.

Getting rid of Dr. Lange is one of the worst things this city will go through.

My God would be very hurt about what I did. Go ahead and throw stones you must be perfect. Wrong is wrong and what I did was wrong. Do I regret it, honestly no I dont. And if you want to blame me for your failed marraige then that is your right. Sorry that this is so personal but I do have a right to respond to those who chose to say false things about me and my family.
PS
Put your name to your messages if you stand behind your words people.

Okay we have our questions ready. We have talked to Dustin McIntyre of the Gateway News and asked him if he will presented them to School Board and do a video. This will make sure that it is the words of the actually person. Too many times this community has been burned by someone else telling us what someone said.

Our Questions are the following:

How long has the plan to terminate Dr. Lange been in process?

Was Dr. Lange even aware of your list of concerns? Was Dr. Lange given a chance to respond to your list of concerns and offer any kind of explanation or corrective action plan?

As far as the concerns of water for New High School and sales and use tax to Commerce City for the new High School. Were you under the impression that District 14 would be getting these for free?

Under Dr. Lange the school district has had a seven year increase in CSAP scores until this last year, why not give Dr. Lange a chance to form a plan of action instead of just terminating him?

For Board member Vashaw: As a board member of the Charter School Community Leadership Academy, how many principals did you let go? How do you respond to those who say that is how you deal with personal issues, by just firing?

How do you address the comments that you were always looking to fire Dr. Lange because of the stance he may have taken on CLA?

Why not just hold together until Lange’s contract ran out? Was the district in a dire situation?

*We are more then likely going to come up with more, but these are the ones we came up with for now.

Dear Adams 14 Community:

I write this letter with great personal difficulty and a true sense of loss.  Over the last decade and a half, I have had the great honor of serving the students of Adams 14 first as the principal of Adams City High School and then as Superintendent of the district.  The work has been hard, the challenges many and the fight for the future of our students long and complicated.  Without a doubt, these years have been the most wonderful of my life.  To have been at the helm of the district during the greatest renaissance of the district’s 106 year existence gives me pause to thank God for giving me the privilege of helping this community in ways that I never would have imagined.  It has been my great joy to partner with parents, students, businesses, staff and the entire community to envision the impossible, then to work together to pass the first bond in forty years to build a new building, our high school community college campus . I will be forever grateful to all of you for allowing me to be a part of your lives and these extraordinary events.  Yesterday, my dear friend, who is also an Adams 14 parent summed up the last 15 years when he said, you became a part of us and we became a part of you, it’s all about relationships
Two weeks ago, however, as I arrived for what was to be a regular Adams 14 Board of Education meeting, I was stunned and caught off guard as three members of the Board of Education; Ms. Jeannette Lewis, Mr. Robert Vashaw and Mr. Larry Quintana fired me publically without so much as a moment’s notice. Mr. Vashaw spewed a laundry list of unsubstantiated allegations which were designed to not only embarrass me, but to destroy my reputation.  All of my evaluations have been either very good or excellent and I had no way of knowing that they were going to take this action.  The allegations will be proven to be gross exaggerations and misrepresentations and in some cases  complete falsehoods.  Board members Angela Kreutzer and Bill Klocker voted against my termination, and appeared shocked and unknowing of this sudden event.
It is also important to note that this premeditated act and arbitrary firing is now being played on the internet and has gone nationwide greatly damaging my ability to obtain another position.  As a long time partner in the Adams 14 community, I feel that I have no other recourse than to make sure that you all know that I will refute these reprehensible allegations and insist on the restoration of my reputation.  To do less would dishonor all of the students that I have had in my charge all of these many years.  I have always asked; WHO’S FOR KIDS, AND WHO'S JUST KIDDING ?  I guess we all know the answer to that now.   It is with profound sadness that I leave Adams 14, especially in this historic year that we all fought to achieve.
My warm regards to all of you.

John Lange
Former Superintendent Adams 14 School District

I just read through all the current Blogs and it seriously makes me ill. Once again we have to attach the board members that actually are trying to do something for this district. If you will notice the gateway is a little one sided it is and always will be a rag paper printing false hoods and garbage. And, yes most of there facts come from the "Richard Fords and the Angela Kreutzer and the John Lange's" of this world that are power hungary they will do anything to make them selves look better in the eye of the public. I relize that these people have there friends and there little followers. But the action of the board were based on fact, not fiction as the follwers believe. The board was justified in there actions, There is no justification for a recall, the board has the backing of the Principals in this district as stated and the letter was signed by each and every Principal. The Board has the backing of the Ad. Bldg. as stated in the letter signed by members of the Administration Building. The board has the backing of the teachers in this district too. So I would say that everyone blogging recently needs to get a life. It's done lets move forward and make this a district we can all be proud of and a district once again that is enjoyable to work for.

Once again poor Angela, Puke - if you people were being honest with yourselves and everyone else. You would be at the next school board meeting asking for her to step aside. The facts are in September 2007, her husband caught her in bed with another man. Fact, she moved in with this man some where in Jefferson County. Fact she registered to vote in Jefferson County. Fact, she may have moved back into this district within the last few months but the fact was and should be follwed that she should have stepped aside last September that all the things she voted on from September until now should be discarded. This is a huge issue and you people keep blowing off because were picking on poor Anglea. PUKE.

I just came on to the web site and the first thing I noticed were the video's you could watch of the school board meeting on Tuesday. And the good old gateway did it again. Notice that there is not one of the video's from the Principal reading her letter or the one from the Ad. Bldg. reading there letter so that everyone could get to hear both sides of the story always one sided shame on you. And this recall on myspace give me a break how many flipping adults actually have myspace sights. Grow up world.

I don’t think anyone was saying anything bad about the Fords Children. I think it was more about there lack of parenting skills.
Rebecca states that when her and her husband started dating it was with written permission for administrators and her mother. Are you kidding me??? Seriously what school would sign a consent form like that? Do you think people are stupid enough to believe your lies? Well you must! There is no doubt that she does not feel guilty over splitting a marriage up. It just goes to show you where you’re morals really are. I think what you and your husband need to do is take some time off from talking crap about everyone that is not in your “in” crowd and raise your children!! Now more then ever they need you. I know mine don’t need your type of leadership!!! You ask if I am perfect. Well no, I’m not but I can honestly tell you that I have not went against God’s 10 rules he set for us (I’m sure you think he has a different set for you and your family).

As for Angela she needs to be removed from the board she doesn’t live here nor vote here!!!

I will not put my name down like you want me to because of the retaliation that your family would do.

I have to agree with the person who commented on the students for being at the board meeting. But let us understand why they were truly there. It was not in support of Dr. Lange. Oh maybe 2 or 3 of them supported Lange but the majority of them were there to give there opinion on the naming of the new high school. And our current board had the wisdom to keep the name ADAMS CITY HIGH SCHOOL - yeah to the board, yeah to the student, alumni, and community members who were in support of this. Job well done.

When the facts dont support your opinions you seek to distract from the topic. Let remain focused about the real issue. What I heard from Resha was that she is sad about the loss of Dr. John Lange and is even more upset over the behavior of the board of education and their abuse of power. There is a time line of events that have placed this district in danger, a time line supported by facts not opinion. A lot of employees are very scared. They believe that they will lose their jobs if they say one word against the board. Even more people dont want to get involved because they fear being disected in public about their personal lives rather than discussing the issues. It would be so much easier to just go away, to not care, but this is to important. Our district was on a path of imporvement and now it's way off track. Fear can not be allowed to run our lives...the cost would be to great in doing so.

Current School Board Members,

Dont be scared, they are just questions!

I mean really what do you have to be afraid of?

I am sure the Gateway News would even do a video of your answers so we make sure it is your words.

As far as the prinicpal and Admin people supporting Sue, So what! they are just doing what is excpected of them in this kind of a situation, they are professional enough to know how to play the game.

What I really want to know is what they really think, and that would be a story!

But they have jobs to keep and families to take care of.

By the way, the public is smarter then you think, so stop think that you are pulling a fast one on us.

I think I know why vashaw did what he did!

Admen. 55 might pass in Nov. and then they would have to give some actually reasons for firing Dr. Lange!

What do you all think about that?

Anonymous said...

once again you are just giving broard comments with nothing behind them. You say yes we failed the kids of D-14?

How? by the 7 straight years of csap growth?

By passing a bond that will build a state of the art High School new ADAMS CITY HIGH SCHOOL)

And yes Amend 55 will more then likely pass in Nov and that would have for sure put the board in a tight position if they fired him for the reasons that they gave.

I still beleieve that we will see Dr. Lange challenege all of these "reasons" or what vahsaw calls "concerns"

Anonymous said...

I think we all know that the Gateway News were always big Dr. Lange fans. I am actually surprised that we are not seeing more of an out cry.

I have heard that a recall was being formed but know nothing of it actually happening. Is this one of those "pie in the sky" ideas? Or are they really going to do something.

Lets all remember that Lewis won by a significant number in the last school board election. The public has spoken and we need to keep this board on. We have to learn to live with the desicions that our elected officials make. That is why we elected them.

Anonymous said...

Why are people in the district presenting CLA's building as being public "vote" supported bond.
It was not support by the voters, only the new high school and fixing of the old schools.
The public said NO, but the new CLA is being built anyway.
The BOE does what they want regardless of the citizens support.

Anonymous said...

That is correct. CLA had a big NO on building, but looks like they can do what they want.

What are their CSAP scores again? even with the HUGE gain this last time, what is the percent?

Interesting.....

As of today Colorado is a right to work state. They didn't need reasons to fire Lange...And if admen. 55 is past how will that make a difference?? Whats done is done!! Get Over it! If he was such a great person/worker/leader then why is he still crying about losing his job here? why hasn't he found another job? If he was that good (as some put it "The Best") then other schools would be knocking down his door to hire him.

I had to laugh at the myspace recall page (ha!ha!) My question to the Fords is When will you be passing out the Watch Dog again?
This is pretty typical for you guys. Lets start a recall but that will not cost the district any money. Just like when Janet was suing Richard and Angela they both retained ttornies from BOECS did that cost the district any money???? Really ask your self "Are you for kids or are you kidding?" Are you for kids when it benifits you? When you can say horrible things about the school board members and have a FEW kids show up at board meetings to push YOUR issues...Is that when you are for kids or you just kidding then? How about when the first thing out of Langes mouth when he gets fired is you will be hearing from my attorney. Is that when He is for kids or was he just kidding? How much will that cost the kids?

Im not sure what employees you are talking about. (The ones that are scared). I haven't talk to one that is afraid anymore. They are excited for change. The famous saying around the district now is "New School New Leadership" and I would have to agree!!
I think the district is on track now. I beleive it will accomplish great things.
WAY TO GO BOE!!!!Keep up the momentum and stay focused on ALL the wonderful kids in this district!

Adams 14 is a small district and our boudries are locked. There can be no growth in that respect. so many of our Commerce City kids that live up north attend Brighton schools because even though they live in CC they dont live in D14. When you introduce a charter school into a district like D14 the financial impact is drastic. The loss of revenue - jobs - programs are all linked to the approval of CLA. Now that I have stated that I want to go on record that I do believe parents have the right to choose. It was always my stance that CLA postpone their opening until the district was able to support the financial loss. If you recall we had tried to pass a bond that would have allowed the building of a k-8 school in the north west corner of our boundries. I believe that if it passed the enrollment in that school would have been enough to support the opening of a charter school. These business decisions should have been made free of personal likes or dislikes but instead personal agendas got in the way and kids lost. There was a group that campaigned against that bond and it's my personal opinion that that group started the greatest divide our city has ever seen. So in conclusion, 2 million dollar budget cut, loss of jobs, and loss of programs... we were all warned.

Do you really expect Dr. Lange to allow those three elected individuals to get away with the biggest "WRONG" this community has ever witnessed? Question and please answer it. Why did they not just wait till his contract was up? Why did they have to READ a list a personel issues in public, and to boot, vidio recorded for the world to see? If they would have waited then none of this would be happening right now. No talk of re-call. No possible lawsuit on the horizon. I question your motives when you support Robert Vashaw, J. Lewis, and Larry Quintana and at the same time chastize Ford and Kreutzer for L. Lweis's lawsuit? You people in Commerce City are a complex group of people. You sure the water is okay out there?

The word on the street is Ziler has pulled a recall committee petition. we should teach our kids how to lose and how to win. looks like Ziler needs to learn how to lose. you only got about 750 votes. NEWS FLASH you and Richard lost the election. we have one every two years in Adams 14. try harder next time. people are laughing at you two. GROW up please. your making Commerce City look like a joke.

Anonymous said...

WOW!!! I guess you didn’t attend school very long did you? Your reading retention is not real good. I never asked the question about what adults have a myspace account. I said I thought the recall “myspace” was a joke (ha ha).
So you have 2 adults that can actually vote on a recall and 3 kids? Hmmmm….you only need about 748 VOTES to go.
I’m pretty sure more than 3”grown ups” have a myspace. Here’s a question why didn’t you cut and paste your own myspace page on here? We know you know how since you gave us all the lesson in the whole Ctrl C Ctrl V thing. Well I figure I would save you the time and do it for you

WOW I guess you don’t even know what state you live in. And if you are so proud of our city why not just write Commerce City, CO….The TRUTH….try that once.

You obviously don’t know where to draw your boundaries do you? What will you stop at? Where are your morals? That has been my one and only question to you Rebecca.

This is to the person that questions my motives:

I support all 5 of the board members. Not just Vashaw, Lewis, and Quintana. I support Klocker and I will support Angela once she can prove she lives and votes in Adams County.

Do you guys want the questions we asked again?

Anonymous said...

nicely put, yeah I think we need those questions again...

Anonymous said...

OH YEAHHHH! Let's hear them again.

Anonymous said...

Have you sent them comments to each board member to answer???? Maybe thats what you should do instead of posting them on here.
Not that I really care how any of them answer. I think we need to move forward and not dwell on the past.
Lets just get over it and continue to but the best intrest of the kids first.
And stop accusing everyone about what is written here. No one knows for sure who is writing what since it is anonymous.

Anonymous said...

yeah it is like a secret ballot, no one knows what you are really thinking until you can be unknown to others.

Anonymous said...

okay getting mixed reports here.

Question 1: Is there an actual recall effort started?

Question 2: If so, who is on the recall comittee

Anonymous said...

I do not live in Adams county school district #14. I live in Commerce City and live in School District 27J.

I am following the story of the firing f Dr. Lange. I have a question that should be added to the questions that are going to be presented to the board.

How many of the current board were for the new high school and which ones are they?

I do not know if the firing of Dr. Lange was a good thing or a bad thing. But I do know that I want more information and I want answers to the questions being asked.

As far as I can tell, it looks like the Gateway News has actually asked questions in the past and the elected officials neglectd to answer them. Why? Are the questions on fair? Are they loaded questions?

After the fact, I think the questions by the Gateway News were actually very smart and really right to the point and maybe that is why most of the school board avoided them, which brings us to the first of the new questions, How long as this been in the works?

I would urge the board of education of Adams County School District #14 to answer the questions. Do a video or even answer them in the Commerce City Beacon, but you owe it to the public to further your explanation of why you fired Dr. Lange.

I know we all should just stop talking about Dr Lange. So i read in the paper that you want to recall three of our Board members. Well the more you talk about Lange the more good and bad info will be past around the world about him. and bad news goes a lot farther than good news. so please go for the recall and make sure your best friend never gets a Superintendent job ever again!
He will have to get a job as a principal and take orders from a hard ass boss and he will be so miserable every day of his life. i'm glad i don't have friends like you. Good luck with the recall. and I'm going to wish Dr Lange the best of luck.

Anonymous said...

I'm back! I just finished reading all the dumb blogs and I would say a bunch of idiots need to grow up and get a life. I keep seeing the reference to the CSAP scores going up for 7 years in a row. What you idiots need to understand is that it really doesn't matter. Think of it this way, would you want your child or children going to a school district were they were continually harping on a 1 or 2 percent gain. When is fact across the district only 20 to 30 percent of the children in this district are proficient in the areas of reading, math and science. This is our future people. That means 70 to 80 percent are non-proficient and this is not acceptable. Get it right. It is time for a change. Keep it up BOE. You are doing what is right for the children of this district.

Anonymous said...

If Lie-FOS is done following the mayor we can get them to follow Ford and Ziler to see what's going on

Anonymous said...

Who is Lie FOS??

Anonymous said...

WOW. Dr Lange could only Educate 20% to 30% of our kids? He must be the best superintendent in the world. We should recall all 5 members of the BOE. Hire Dr Lange back and just maybe we could get 21% to 31% this year. that would be the best.
P.S we need Ziler to be the President of The BOE too.
please just get a life and support your local Government.

Anonymous said...

Dr. Lange fell victim to the incursion of illegal immigrants. There are a lot of kids in the district that never attended school regularly if at all in their country of origin.

Re: CITIZEN NOT SURPRISED BY ACTIONS OF “THREESOME” ON ACSD14 BOARD

Kristi Douglas, Concerned Citizen of Commerce City @720-205-2627

Kristy your running for City Council in one year that's some strong words for a person that wants to be an elected official.
Council has to make some really hard decisions too. they have all the facts and know things that the public has no clue whats going on.
so when you run for your seat on council we will know you wont work with The BOE. you don't have to open your mouth and talk about things you have no idea about.
good luck getting ELECTED NOW.

Anonymous said...

Whatever, Kristi is not running for anything. GET your story straight!

Is it so shocking that there are good people out there that just want to be involved in their community. Not everyone has a hidden agenda. I know that is weird for Commerce City, But it is pretty normal for most cities.

Have you even talked to Kristi, Maybe you should before you start jumping to conclusions.

Assume only makes an ass out you u and me.

I just finished reading an article on the Beacon website about the recall for the 3 board members. Sounds like the only reasons the core group have a reason to recall the 3 board members is they are unhappy with the termination of Dr. Lange(wouldn't it be nice if we could recall our boss when we got fired from a job) and the fact that two of them didn't get elected to the board when they ran last year. You'd think they could take a hint, we didn't want them than, why would we want them now?
All this conflict going on among the board surely contributes to the downfall of the district.
I believe the district would be better off if all those who say they have the best interest of the children in mind could work with what the current board and if they are not happy with the job they are doing, don't vote for them next time.

Imagine if everytime someone didn't agree with the President of the US someone formed a recall committee, nothing would ever get done.

Anonymous said...

Interesting point, but you have to know that there is a drastic difference between government and companies.

Citizens unhappy because they got rid of Lange...It is their bloody right to start a recall. That is just America.

Know I understand that if we started a recall effort every time we disagreed we would get no place.

But the reasons why they took action to fire Lange are just plain unreal. This translate into a board that are making decisions that are either completely incompetent or a personal grudge, either way, that is not the ideal situation of a elected board.

Anonymous said...

OK than, other than the fact they terminated Dr. Lange what are the other reasons for the recall?

Anonymous said...

I dont know but how come the lange firing is not enough for a recall?

It is those big blunders that tend to stick out.

To do it when the district in not in a dire state, it just sounds too much like a firing b/c of a personal conflict. That is just not okay.

Anonymous said...

If the only reason they have to recall the 3 board members is because they terminated Dr. Lange and gave valid reasons why he was let go, than I believe the recall committee seems more like they are the ones out for some type of personal revenge.

I also wonder why Angela is still on the board if she's been living out of district for 6 months or so.

Remember this is all just my own personal opinion.

Anonymous said...

Wait, so you are saying getting rid of Lange is not reason enough to do a recall? Seriously?

You don't think that this position (school board) is not an important enough position were they need to be closely looked at every move they make. I mean, not to get off subject here, but any elected position of power should be watched and every move should be called on!

Kids First, who is for kids and who is just kidding. All these little phrases speak volumes, this is basically a volunteer position and the only focus they should have is on the kids and the kids only.

So it gets back to the original question, was the district in a dire situation that we needed to fire him right thenand there, no discussion, no heads up, no chance for him (dr. lange) to respond?

And these concerns that vashaw made, are they just concerns or are they reasons for a firing, I dont get it. I have watched the video numerous times and I just dont get it. President says "any discussion" and Vashaw rattles off all these "concerns" but it would seem that they do not have anything to do with Dr. Lange.

School District cant get stuff for free like water and taxes, I dont get it.

Maybe someone can educate me on something that I think I might be missing.

Please fill me in, heck fill us all in!

Anonymous said...

NO I do not believe terminating Dr. Lange is reason enough to recall the majority of the School Board.

Anonymous said...

I am shocked, We actually have some really good opinions on here now.

It is nice to see that the personal attacks are fading and that the issues are being discussed.

What a nice breathe of freash air!

Anonymous said...

Okay but what if it comes out that it was a personality conflict and not a performance issue, then is it still good of enough reason?

Anonymous said...

I really don't think it was a personality conflict, I think it was just time for him to go.

Does anyone even know the average lenth of stay for a Superintendent in the state of Colorado?

It is only like a year and a half. Lange was in the poweer position for too long.

Anonymous said...

We need some new ideas in
Adams 14. I really think we will get them now.

Anonymous said...

After watching the board meeting on channel 8 and hearing from all the principals and teachers in favor of Dr. Lange's termination I have to believe that the Board did the correct thing in terminating him, maybe they could have done it differantly and not let it be a surprise to Dr. Lange.

I also don't believe the the other two board members were left out of the loop in this matter, I haven't heard either of them confirm that they didn't know anything about it.

Anonymous said...

From numerous years of experience, I make this statement. For the most part, school board members are a joke, wherever they serve. What do any, and I said any, of the current members know about education?! Maybe some know something about budgets, but that would be about it.

Anonymous said...

Dr Lange worked for 4 years at ACMS to bring up there test scores and he failed our kids. All of the kids at ACMS come from really good schools. This means that 1/2 of the kids moving up to ACHS are behind. 1/2 of our graduating class are behind. Dr Lange failed our District. Dr Lange should of been fired last year. Some say he was the best? Well check the facts. ACMS has a very good chance this year. You GO ACMS.

Anonymous said...

Hey, Dr Lange was fired from his last 2 Superintendent jobs. We might wonder why?

Anonymous said...

Dr Lange's CSAP scores 1999-2008.

6th grade reading 310. State 539.

6th grade writing 210. State 398.

6th grade math 216. State 388.

Now I just added all the test scores together for all years.

In my opinion I think we can do better than this.

I have all the time in the world to state facts about how Dr Lange did in Adams 14. Some good some bad. People will remember the bad. And if I was to hire Dr Lange I would check the facts. Good luck Dr Lange.

Anonymous said...

RE: Maybe someone can educate me on something that I think I might be missing.

Please fill me in, heck fill us all in!

the free water and taxes. Dr Lange had a HAND SHAKE deal with our former City Manager Perry Vandeventer for the free water and taxes. Dr Lange never put that money into the bond. now we have to cut some things out of our New High School to cover the shortage.
did this answer your questions?

a real businessman would of got that in writing.

Hey they both got fired. wow imagine that.

Anonymous said...

I think and I might be wrong, but I am under the impression that the principals and admin employees were only saying that they support sue in her new position.

Something that an professional persons would do.

It is making a statement that they are supporting sue, that is all. I never heard that they were "in favor" of the lange firing.

Understand? Or does somebody know something different.

Also, yes I see your CSAP scores, wasn't sue the dean of acedemics?

Get were I am going with this.

Anonymous said...

Question? High test scores rely on the hole School District. not just Sue! Dr Lange hires everyone. The bus drivers play a part in there education. school safety plays a part too. When we have KIDS bringing GUNS to school and pulling them out on other kids are we going to get the best scores NO. The School Board is responsible for hiring the Superintendent. and he hires everyone else. The BOE did there job firing Dr Lange. NOW Dr Sue Chandler has a few months to try and fix this. but she has to work with Dr Lange's budget. our kids have to fill safe at schools in order to learn!!!!!!! we can blame this on all the last School Boards and Dr Lange. is your kid safe at school? do your kids even attend Adams 14 schools or do you take them out of Adams 14?

Anonymous said...

Sorry...but reading your letter tells alot. Your poor use of correct spelling( whole not hole, their not there) and grammer, yet you are judging our school district?
Hmmmm, gotta wonder!

Anonymous said...

I know this is a senisitive time, but you do make a lot of good points.

It is refreshing to actually heard some of the reasons why the BOE did what they did.

It is the classic case of without information, humans tend to make their own information. It is a theary that humans have a make sense of everything, at least to some degree.

Anonymous said...

If D-14 is such a horrible school district, how come there was Harvard material being produced?

Also, you fired Lange a while ago, why not change the D-14 website (Admin page, Superintendent message)?

Or are you guys too busy screwing up the rest of the district!

Anonymous said...

Sorry...but reading your letter tells alot. Your poor use of correct spelling( whole not hole, their not there) and grammer, yet you are judging our school district?
Hmmmm, gotta wonder!

Gota wonder how i graduated from ACHS with out more school books, more teachers, more people that cared and a superintendent like DR Lange that cared about kids like me. thanks to the BOE for doing THEIR JOB. i cant spell but i can VOTE. and you and your dumb ass recall. i wish you luck.

Anonymous said...

Your rude and vugar whining is not becoming to you!
If you compare the dollars spent at district 14 to others in the state (per student) then look at the teacher ratio, books etc. Take some of the responsiblity for not doing better. Poorest of the poor have done well in district 14. It is a mind set and using the opportunities given. Not having an excuse or pity party!

Anonymous said...

RE: Not having an excuse or pity party hu.
I do think if each kid in Adams 14 had a school book we would learn more. whats Dr Lange's story for not buying us books? we had to share our books with other kids. all 4 years at the high school. what was Dr Lange's excuse?

and it sounds like Dr Lange is having a pity party now.
ziler wa wa pity party my friend got fired.
the ford family bo ho some pity party. MY GOD grow up. whats your excuse for your friend getting fired. HE DIDNT DO HIS JOB????????????????????????????

Anonymous said...

A large percentage of the public schools don't have enough books to go around. Ours didn't and we didn't attend ACHS.
If you WANT to learn and put out effort, the teachers are there!! They want to teach you. It is time for personal resonsiblity. The BOE didn't do you any favor if THEY don't provide the monies in the right departments to take care of the students!!
Own up and stand up and start working instead of waiting to have someone fix it for you!!

Anonymous said...

Good points,

When does the BOE start taking Responsibility!

Where is the BOE accountability?

So if Lange was the problem, the problem that need to have drastic measures taken, then we should see a magical turn around right away? Correct?

Anonymous said...

anyone know where I can get a gateway newspaper?

I live in the southern part of Commerce City and I don't get the channel 8 because I have A dish instead of Comcast.

So, I saw the videos here on the Gateway News website and I was shocked at the behavior of the adults in our city. The Zeiler and Lewis video of the lawsuits and who is going to sue who and I gathered that they were both audio taping each other! I think we need all new BOE members and maybe it is good that Lange is no longer here. I just think that the whole thing is such a mess that we just need a completely new fresh start.

We need a new leader that can turn this whole mess around. I dont trust any of them. Mostly I dont trust Vashaw, those "concerns" sound nothing but just lame excuses to fire Lange because of his feelings of the charter school, or some personal grudge he has with him.

Anonymous said...

I am sorry that you don't have Comcast, if you did you would see what we all have been seeing and that is a board that has been split 3-2 for a long, long time.

You would see a board that is run by personal grudges and personality conflicts is just a normal routine. They make jabs at each other and we all know they sue each other.

You say a mess, I say purely dysfunctional. Yes we need a complete new board. I support the recall and I want Angela to step down. It is the only way we are going to get this back to normal. Our children deserve this. I too amd shocked at the behavior of the adults. We need to fix this and we need to fix this now.

Anonymous said...

Has anyone recognized the next problem, or should I say the continuing problem with district 14?
It is nearly impossible (look at the past elections) to find real qualified educated and education directed people. Those with the knowledge, education and ability to REALLY direct this district.
No doubt each district has it's own difficulties, but 14 has a number of problems unique unto itself. The number of students who move in and out of the district, lack of parental support etc., makes this an extra difficult issue.
We will need great people to replace this BOE, who aren't looking for the limelight, but a light to help our children.

Anonymous said...

This Question is for everyone. and we will call this Budget Question # 1. for all of you nice people that will talk smack about this question.

the 07-08 budget was set by the previous School Board.

Dr Lange over spent this budget by $2,000,000.oo that's the 2 million Mr Vashaw was concerned about.

now he never told the Board till after they had to cut $2,000,000.oo off this years budget. they had to fire teachers.

increase class size.

after Klocker, Kreutzer and Quintana voted yes for this years budget. then Dr Lange told the Board that we were over $2,000,000.oo.

then some how Dr Lange found $2,000,000.oo. to pay us back for our overage. wow!

we could of used that money to keep our Teachers. keep our class size down. and show the BOE that Dr Lange was working hard for all of our kids and staff and teachers.

this is how Dr Lange works.

Just my OPINION.

Isn't the board constantly monitoring the $$$? If not, why not. There should never be a 2 million dollar budget shortage or overage?

Maybe I am just assuming here, but I thought it was setup like city council where they get regular reports and are kept up to speed. If not, I really hope that the board takes action to have this as part of their responsibilities.

I agree with trying to find good quality people. All of these recall groups want to recall and think that we are then going to magically come up with better people. Where the hell are these people, this isn't Denver, we don't have millions to choose from. We are what we are and we really don't have any good quality people out there that want to take on this kind of responsibility. No offense to all those currently holding positions, but I think they all understand what I am trying to say.

Thank you to all who have posted here. I really have learned a lot! It is really nice to start to understand what people are thinking and why they act the way they do. It really just takes some place like this to have some real communication. I do not, I REPEAT I do not agree with everything the Gateway News does, but I have to say, I am very Thankful for this forum and I LOVE the website. Dustin McIntyre has done a very good job and there is nothing like hear for yourself the actual words of those in charge.

There have been numerous "good" people that have desired administrative positions within ACSD #14 However, they would not conform to Lange's "ways" and they left the district to become highly successful in other districts. They just would not put up with the political BS in ACSD #14!

Anonymous said...

Is this because of of Lange or because of the Board. I can understand not wanting to put up with the board, I mean look t all of them!

I don't buy the whole Lange was horrible bit. He was respected by some big names including Ritter and Darr.

What gives? Name one "horrible" thing that he did.

So what if he had a "hand shake" deal with Perry. It sounds to me lke he cared enough to even try! So it didn't work out because Perry left. Are you kidding me. And what the hell does Perry have to do with water anyhow?

Reasons to me are still very muddy to say the least.

Vashaw's list sounds like a bunch of trumped up reasons. List enough and you sound like you have something!
Plus, I don't believe for a minute the 3 musketeers' didn't plan this out together (illegal meeting anyone??)

Lange puzzled by Job reviews; Board remains mum on school boss firing
Former Super says he’ll sue District for remaining contract and ‘damages’

Enterprise staff report
John Lange was invited by friends to go skiing last Friday the morning after he was fired from his $80,000 a year Job as Eagle County School Superintendent, a move that ended months of speculation about the future of the school boss who said early In his tenure that he would launch an effort to do away with communication misfires between the community and its educators. On that same day, Lange's desk already empty and two years left on his employment contract, the Board of Education Issued a terse, three sentence statement, that said its former administrator would receive no "settlement agreement" and that assistant superintendent Mel Preusser would take over the post for now.
And for that, Lange says he'll sue his former bosses for his contract's
$166.000 value through 1995, plus damages for defaming his character.

"I was terminated without a public hearing, and I wasn't evaluated like you would evaluate an employee. It was done in secret. I had no chance to face my accusers. I had something ... a right to due process, and they've taken that away from me. I'm very sad it happened. I really wanted to complete my contract." said Lange last week.

"This was my dream to be here." Two contrasting job evaluations. In his most recent performance
evaluation -- one separated by less than seven months from an earlier job review, Lange was characterized as "intimidating" and "manipulative." The comments contained in the document are not attributed to a specific author and the evaluation was made by both the Board of Education and members of the district's administrative team.
"John uses intimidation, coercion and anger and covers up mistakes made by the central office team." said one of the evaluators.
"It seems John's main motivation is to cover up mistakes, rather than correct them." offered another.
The evaluation said Lange's communication within the district and with the public was unsatisfactory and was critical of Lange's delegation of responsibilities. One evalua-tor said district confidence was at an "all-time low" because of Lange's leadership flaws.
"My concern is that he is a detriment to the Eagle County School District. The longer he stays the more harm he will do to the climate and the students of this school district." commented another. "This distrtct will not move forward under John Lange's leadership."
Not all comments In the document agreed that Lange was a negative force In the district. One evaluator said. "I consider the district fortunate to have John's experience and expertise. I do not believe the district would be well served by replacing the superintendent."
Under open records law in Colorado, Lange's most recent evaluation is available for inspection. Also

available was Lange previous evaluation, which was conducted by the school board alone. The May 1993 evaluation. however. does not Indicate the depth of "Concerns out- lined In last week's document.

In that performance review. the School Board last spring cited several areas that needed Improvement. Including communications and relationships with the nternal staff of the district. However, the overall tone of the evaluation was positive and one evaluator said. "Although it seems premature to be able to rate performance In several key areas at this point my overall impression is that John Lange is dong an outstanding job in accomplishing the changes which this Board has communicated to him for this District."
“There's absolutely nothing in our school district that has been put on hold. There has been no change in philosophy”

The Eagle Valley Enterprise January 27, 1994 Your Letters

Lange's 'recent performance and track record displays arrogance
Editor:
I read your article two papers ago concerning John Lange his feelings about his dismissal and his demand for an open meeting to discuss this topic. Mr. Lange also exhibited an extreme amount of arrogance toward the population of Eagle County in assuming we had forgotten his and the former School Board's past performance In the area of so-called 'open meetings.' If this matter wasn't so important I'd find It highly amusing! Has every one forgotten the circumstances surrounding Dr. Patricia Cook's dismissal and the events that occurred when she called for an open meeting to discuss her Job loss? In case anyone has 'forgotten,' allow me to aid you in remembering the cold and humiliating way Mr. Lange and the former Board treated Dr. Cook and her supporters. The meeting was 'overseen' by a Sheriffs deputy due to rumors of dire threats against the participants. These very people felt it necessary to hide their personal vehicles from the public that elected them to protect their property against possible vandalism/mischief. Mr. Lange and the Board sat quietly at their table and listened to Don Marks stated that they were only going to listen, but not respond to statements in order to aid in keeping the meeting short and prevent unnecessary discussions. Very few of the members of the Board chose to look people in the face as they talked, instead sitting still and staring at the table in front of them in an attitude of long suffering. Mr. Lange alternately slouched to his chair staring at his hands, belt buckle, navel, whatever or hunched over the table in front of him and diddled with his pen, occasionally looking up to see that the speakers had changed. Dan Corcoran nibbled on candy throughout the proceedings as If he was at a movie theater watching a bad movie. Others simply sat with pained looks on their faces, obviously wishing they were elsewhere.
Despite all of the remarks made, entreating the board to answer why they had decided to dismiss Dr. Cook not one person responded with any facts, remaining non-committal throughout. These people Ignored an entire community, denied Dr. Cook her constitutional right to hear the evidence against her, never answered one allegation and swiftly voted for her dismissal by an overwhelming majority _ In one evening these 'public servants' ripped Dr. Cook's livelihood away form her and gained a legacy of distrust from those who watched how callously she and others were treated. Now, Mr. Lange requests his rights?
I can only state that I believe Mr. Lange deserves to reap the benefits of his own actions. I wish him the same consideration by his peers that Dr. Cook was given by hers. He deserves nothing more by his own example. The good old Golden Rue slates: Do unto others as you wish them to do unto you. Perhaps he should have read that before the events of last year took place.
Dr. Cook was forced to sell her home, find another means of supporting her family and she succeeded in doing so. She didn't continue to whine publicly about her dismissal but, instead, gathered up the shattered remnants of her life and used these bits to build a new life elsewhere. She showed great courage In the face of adversity, becoming an example to those who face similar trials.
Mr. Lange. In case you would like some pointers on gathering up your bits and pieces and starting over Dr. Cook's address could be provided. A good adult role model could prove very beneficial right about now.
Nancy Jackson

Sounds like Dr Lange has a lot of experience at suing his former bosses.
and this was the best Superintendent Adams 14 could find 14 years ago.

So why the hell was he hired in D14 in the first place?

To the person who left the theory of Vashaw firing Lange before we all b=vote on Amend 55.

If you would have done your research you would have realized that the District 14 does not fall under the criteria of giving a reason. So your wonderful Dr. Lange would not have been aboe to use this to his advantage.

I love the articles from the other news sources. GOOD JOB to those who posted them!

Thank you to the person who posted the blog of the Eagle County School District situation. It explains a lot. Lange was fired from School District 14 for primarily the same reasons he was fired from Eagle County a leopard cannot change his spots. I just wonder why it took so long for Adams 14 to wake up. The scary part is there's a good chance Lange could get hired on somewhere else and do the same thing. I've worked in this district for quiet sometime now and I want you all to know that on a personal level I liked Dr. Lange very much - he was always cordial and polite. On the other hand as a leader his past speaks for itself he basically sucks. I think maybe it's time he looked for a different line of work. He just might find it rather satisifying.

Anonymous said...

Two points ie: amend 55.
One I have been told by a good source that several of the amendments have been pulled by the union grp that started them. Since its too late to get off the ballot, they will not be counted. Amendment 55 is one of those.
Second point, if it was counted, it is in regards to business in the private sector, which would not include school districts(paid for with tax dollars).

Anonymous said...

I believe you, but that sounds a little unfair. I mean didn't people sign the petition to put it on the ballot?

Can the group that created a ballot measure just pull it off if they feel like it?

Anonymous said...

I heard there was some closed records out of Arizona about Dr Lange being fired? The BOE hired Dr Lange for principal with the closed records. And they hired him as Superintendent with the closed records. WHY IN THE HELL WOULD THEY DO THIS TO OUR KIDS? Could someone please find us the News articles from Arizona? This should be good! What District did he work in?
Ziler and Ford probably know.

Anonymous said...

The district has been put on a financial freeze. There is to be NO money spent without prior authorization, no field trips, no professional development unless the money or speaker has already been paid, no printing is being allowed and the only supplies that can be ordered have to come from the warehouse, and when they run out, they are not allowed to order anymore. We were assured that all salaries, benefits would be paid, busing and meals would still be provided. As a district employee this makes me very nervous!

Anonymous said...

I thought that after you guys got rid of Lange everything was going to be magically better.

Freezing everything? Yea, that would make me scared too.

So what if lange got fired from eagle or where ever. It was a while ago. I mean if we are going to talk about people's past I wonder what else happen in Eagle County with lets say a school board member, hint, hint.

oh snap.

Thank you Adams County School District 14 Board of Education. We stepped out and VOTED for the best last November. And we had a legal election. There was no sign of an illegal election. And in the County, the City, the State and in THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA THE WINNER TAKES ALL.

Opposes school district recall (Commentary)
By Anonymous District 14 Citizen
Appears on IntraDenver in: Commerce City
10/8/2008

The story in your paper on 01 Oct 08 by your reporter, Riste Capps, of an intended recall of three of our duly elected members of Adams School District 14 has prompted a response by this citizen.

As Reporter Capps points out, John Zeiler has been a constant critic at board meetings since he lost his bid to be a member of this board. This is not the first time I’ve read about his antics. Is there not a law that prohibits this type of behavior? If not there should be.

We, the voters of this District had a choice from those seeking election to this board and we the voters have spoken. We made the correct choice in electing those members he wishes to have recalled.

The reasons for Dr. Lange’s termination have been spelled out and they are legitimate reasons for the action taken by these three individuals. They are doing what we elected them to do, look out for and do what is best for our students.

What we have here are two former board members and one Wann?a be, who are sore losers and questioning the will of the people they wish to represent.

In reviewing the reasons for recall, i.e. power hunger. The duly elected members have the power that comes with their position and these three want it. Who is it really that hungers for power?

Costly district lawsuits, by whom? Dr. Lange was terminated in accordance with the provisions in his contract, and in accordance with that same contract, he is in fact not suffering any loss of wages.

Bad role models for our children? How about if you don’t get what you want. Just throw a tantrum fit. This seems to be what this core group is all about.

Spreading fear throughout the District? There is nothing whatsoever about Jeannette Lewis, Robert Vashaw or Larry Quintana that would warrant fear. I would however question what the antics of Mr. Zeiler at Board Meetings might lead to if he should not get his way.

The recall core group is seeking to bring back integrity and honesty to the school board? I say we have it now and should keep it, and we will.

As for their outrage and embarrassment of liable (libel) actions of Lewis, Vashaw and Quintana, if it were not for the fact that we, the taxpayers’s, face unnecessary expenses of their proposed recall. It would actually be humorous to see grown men carry on like spoiled adolescents.

I have full confidence in the ability of Lewis, Vashaw and Quintana to honestly carry out the responsibility entrusted to them by the voters at the last election and I have full confidence that those voters will not be swayd by the efforts of Zeiler, Ford and Teter. They required 881 registered voters’ signatures from our district to bring this recall about. While they may succeed in obtaining some signatures, I seriously doubt that they would find that many uninformed voters in said district.

Yea... I heard district 14 provides busing for the charter school. That's a first all the charter schools I have heard about had to provide their own transportation.
Of course they also got to build a new building, which went against the voters.
Interesting how that got slipped by. Could that have had an impact on the viability of district 14's money. They are liable for that pay back......

Anonymous said...

I still haven't heard any other reason than firing Lange as an excuse for recalling the 3 board members, and if they are successful who will replace the three?

And why don't they put Angela's name up for recall, she flaunts her authority on the Board more than anyone I've seen, plus she doesn't even live in the district.

Anonymous said...

The reason the district has no money is because of good old Dr. Lange's buddy system - he had a so called arrangement with the city for water taps at the new high school oops, since it wasn't in writing the students and employees of this district suffer. They screwed up on the October count last year and had to repay the state over 1.5 million oops. And we wonder why the district has frozen spending. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. Yes Lange has been terminated and the fall out of his actions will continue for sometime.

I finally figured out who this Zeiler person is, he ran for the Board of Ed and came in dead last. Obviously he is a sore loser looking for another angle to get on that Board. Thank goodness the Board finally took care of business, Thank you from the bottom of my heart. The people chose this Board, they should abide by their decisions. Give it up Zeiler!

I sat on the accountability board for Lester Arnold High School, I know the things that DR. Lange pulled to get the doors of that school closed. In 2002 when LASH’s accreditation was pulled, for a short time, and we went to Lange for help, he did nothing to help a school that he was superintendent of. Or how he was ok with the whole new programs that were being offered for high schoolers in ACSD14, as long as they were offered at ACHS.
And as far as him being the “only one who cared…….” I know lots of teachers who gave their whole lives to the schools that they worked at and their students. Two of them put their own health at risk to go back to teaching because the students needed them.
That's where you're wrong, the new high schools is being built because the media got in an up roar over a car missing a turn and hitting the side of the VO-Tech building. And do you recall that there were no skid marks? Strange isn't, the car would have been going at least 60 to miss that wide of a turn. And then there were the stories with the kid crying going “I just don’t feel safe going here any more.” Was it cars hitting the school that made you feel so unsafe or was it the fact that there were guns, fights, and other students being pushed out of second story windows, that made you feel so unsafe? Me I would feel unsafe about everything but the car.

Anyone that believes, what John Zeiler thinks in his head, is a outright fool!

Anonymous said...

Okay so lets get this straight, dont fear Lewis, unless you cross her, doesn't anyone remember when Richard and Angela answered questions and then got sued by Lewis?

Is there a reason why Zeiler wanted to record all of his conversations with Lewis, was he not afraid of being sued?

So I guess logically you should fear crossing lewis, because you have a opinion that crosses her, you might get sued.

Even if the recall was successful, I certainly wouldnt' want them replaced with Ford,Zeiler or Teter.

Anonymous said...

That seems to be Commerce City's biggest problem, that is a severe lack of good people to run for elected offices.

We have no real quality elected officials, so we have to settle for the ones that love the lime light. I mean look around, who are we foolin!

More then likely Ward 1 or At large might even have leffel elected. He might even just walk right into it! Can you think of Denver having this kind of a problem (they have a strong mayor position). Well at least we still have a weak mayor format. Maybe if we increase the pay of the elected officials we could attract more quality individuals. Just a thought.

I would like to see the recall be replaced with 3 individuals that have no power hunger, no grudges and really just want to do right by the kids. Just dont think those individuals exsist! TOO BAD!

Anonymous said...

I agree with some of your statements, but find your broad inclusiveness that we have no real quality elected officals as offensive.
I know several in our city and they are very qualified high caliber honest people.
If you are so informed about the city workings, maybe you should run, or can you only dish out the critical opinions?

Anonymous said...

Ask around, D-14 Commerce City is a punch line to a lot jokes. I see your point of some of the current elected officials. But we have a elected official who is a felon, we have elected officials suing each other, we have council members who are just down right worthless. If we are truely honest with ourselves, I think you will see the same thing I see.

Anonymous said...

I agree that some of them are, but don't lump everyone in to that same basket. Some are honest hard working people. They are limited by the others they have to work with, but that doesn't mean the are not of a quality calibur.

Anonymous said...

The last blog is refering to city elected officals, not specifically district 14.
When I read the original letter it referred to a ward position, therefore I thought you were including the city council in your "lack of quality" comment.

I recommend that the board actually hire Sue as the D-14 Final Superitendent.

This comment is for the person who is shocked about district 14 providing bus transportation to the charter school and about the voters voting against the new building being built for them.

First, CLA pays the transportation department for the buses. It is not a freebie that us tax payers are paying. The school reimburses the bus garage for the buses they have. Therefore, the district is not losing any money to CLA’s transportation arrangements. It’s solely coming out of CLA’s budget.

Next is the issue of the new school that they are building that was voted down by us voters. The reason they were able to build this new facility is because they received bonds outside of this district. Another words they got the money else were to build it. Not from Commerce City tax payers. So it has nothing to do with the viability of district 14’s money.

I personally do not like charter schools, so don’t get me wrong I am by no means sticking up for this school. I just thought that the facts needed to be spoken (written). I also feel that we should have a choice as to were are children go to school. If a parent does not like a public school in this district then they have every right to have a choice as to where to send their children.

hate to say it but I think my grandson will get a better education at the high school that will be built in reunion than the new district 14 high school

Anonymous said...

I have to agree.
If nothing but the obviousness of district 27J's building projects. You never hear about them hitting up the city/water board over and over for money to complete their project.
Poor planning on their part, expecting the water board or city to cover their costs.Nothing was given to 27J for those same expenses.
How about the money that 14 helped the charter school with, so they can build the building the tax payors voted down. District 14 is on the block if it doesn't get paid back.
How about the land the bought for a new "high school" near Gala gardens, when the city had promised them their current site.
Over and over poor direction by the BOE.
Pretty much sets the tone for the districts ability to provide for their students.

A point of clarification, is was reported at the school board meeting on Tuesday October 14th that the school district is actually not on a frozen budget, but they are be cautious.

Also, the Board vote 4 to 0 to place board member Anegla off the board due to issues of residency.

So, if you are interested in being a board member of D-14 you could give them a call.

Anonymous said...

I was actually at the meeting and yes they did kick off Angela from the school board of D14 because she is registered to vote in a different county, Jefferson county to be precise.

The board really had no choice in the matter, what is right, is right, that is why it had to be a 4 to 0 vote.

Still disagree with the boards decision to get rid of Lange.

Excuses given by Vashaw are just stupid. Comment of the night would have to go to Zeiler. Great comments comes this guy every meeting. I really mean it!

Matter of fact if the board was smart, they would fill Angela's position with Zeiler.

That would bring back some of the life in the district.

Anonymous said...

Saw this coming 10,000 miles away! I think the plan was to get rid of her the last meeting.

As far as Zeilers comments about the Sunshine Law and the 3 board members meeting, as long as they were meeting in social manner, I think it is okay. But if Zeiler has something other then that, well then we got a story, but I think it was more then likely just a soical situation and nothing will come of it.

I was at the board meeting last evening (10/14); I am shocked at the idiotic ramblings of Zeiler and his down right rude comments to Robert Vashaw, a board member voted in by the community. I don't understand why the board has to endure his ration of trash talk at every meeting. Zeiler is only embarrasing himself when he spews such nonsense; he makes a mockery of the board and needs to give it up. Face it Zeiler, you came in dead last in the election and thank God, after hearing what you have to say it's clear that you don't have much going on upstairs. You are just a bitter, spiteful person with no real purpose but to talk trash!

I love how some people compare district 14 to district 27j. Brighton has problems too. They just don’t have the community members constantly bringing it out in the open. One such problem that I can remember going on without the public knowing about is when Brighton Collegiate was being built the money that was to go to Prairie View High School was spent on helping build that charter school instead of putting in a football field, scoreboards, and other things like that. The construction of Prairie View High School was so poorly done that the first month it was open the floor tiles started coming up and had to be repaired.
So please lets not compare ourselves with Brighton.
They are not much better then Commerce City

Adams 14 District Accountability Advisory Committee to host Board of Education

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (October 10, 2008) – The Adams 14 District Accountability Advisory Committee (DAAC) will host the Board of Education on Monday, October 20, to discuss the Board’s charge to the committee this year. The Board attended the meeting on October 6, but the District inadvertently neglected to post that meeting in the designated public posting area. As a result, DAAC will reconvene on October 20.
Every year the Board provides a charge to DAAC. DAAC is a strong partner with the Board of Education that serves in an advisory role to help the District meet state requirements. Each year the Board charges DAAC members to do the following:
• Be active in the policies, programs and achievements of the District;
• Help with parent engagement to build support for students’ education;
• Provide review and feedback to the Board on proposed policies, curriculum and programs, and graduation requirements;
• To be an active part of the budget process for schools and the District.
On October 28, the Board will approve the charge to DAAC, and the DAAC meeting on October 20 will provide a forum to discuss the proposed charge for the 2008-09 school year.
“We want our parents to be part of the direction of the District,” says Board President Jeannette Lewis, “so we encourage folks to participate in DAAC. It really provides a chance for parents to make a difference in Adams 14.”
District Accountability Advisory Committee:
Monday, October 20, 6 p.m., Adams City Middle School media center, 4451 East 72nd Avenue.

Secret on the street:
Adams City High School, will not be having the Community College at the new school. They may hold a few classes at the H.S., but nothing like the proposal to the tax payers of district 14.
Apparently that has NEVER been the real plan.
All of you who had hoped to get an associates degree locally can forget it.
So again district 14 lied to the tax payers.
All of you who voted down a bond for the charter school, that too wasn't followed.
Hello...is anyone sick of the BOE for this district and there secret "social" meetings? There not following the voters wishes?
NO I am not Zeiler or Ford just a sick of this crap citizen.

This one really needs to be verified with the board on the next board meeting or submitted to them as a question.

If this is true, I being a life long supporter of the District will be very disappointed!

Yes we do need this information verified. But I am confused due to the fact that one of the names for the new high school was Adams City High school/Comunity College, wasn't it?

Also, Great job on Angela, you got rid of her on a technical foul, you should be proud!!!!!!!

Sad thing is that she has 2 kids in the district, as far as my 2 cents, she has a lot of reasons to be part of this district.

But you guys know best, well it is all n your shoulders now. So far.......not impressed, but we will see.

Great comment made before, so worried about CSAPs? Didn't that fall under the responsibility of Sue? Wasn't she the Dean of Academics?

Well, I wish you all luck, we hope that you will do the best from our schools.

No doubt the BOE in 14 will try to pawn this off (community college/not) on Lange.
They will claim they didn't know, or this was another reason he was let go.
Just watch!!

I agree with pretty much everything you said in your post but this statement.

“Also, Great job on Angela, you got rid of her on a technical foul, you should be proud!!!!!!!
Sad thing is that she has 2 kids in the district, as far as my 2 cents, she has a lot of reasons to be part of this district.”

Whenever someone lies it is ALWAYS wrong…would you hold the other board members to your standard? I bet if it was Lewis that did not live in this district you would want her out on the technical foul. She had plenty of chances to prove that she lived in this district and she ignored them. She is not above the rules because she has two kids in this district.

I do agree with you about Sue. I do not feel she is the right person for this job either. If the BOE wants positive change then they need to restructure starting with the Ad building. They need to get rid of most of the people there. I really believe this district needs to hire out of this district/state and we really do not need anymore of DPS rejects. It seems to me most of the staff here in this district were let go from Denver Public Schools. I think this district deserves better.

Have to agree, what is right is right. Angela had to go. But also, do not agree with a lot that is going on with the District these days!

Adams 14 Board of Education declares Board Director vacancy

COMMERCE CITY (October 20, 2008): The Adams 14 Board of Education at its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 14 adopted a Resolution declaring a vacancy in one of its Director positions. Board Treasurer Angela Kreutzer’s residency status was recently called into question by community members, local press, and other members of the Board. Colorado law requires that a Director be a registered voter and reside in the school district. Information obtained from the Colorado Secretary of State stated Kreutzer was registered to vote at a Lakewood address in Jefferson County since February 2008. An Application for Voter Registration signed by Kreutzer confirmed this information.

Following the vacancy, the Board realigned to fill the vacant officer position. Board officers are as follows:
• President, Jeannette Lewis
• Vice President, Robert Vashaw
• Treasurer, Larry Quintana
• Secretary, Bill Klocker
• Director, Vacant

The Board must appoint a person to fill the vacancy by December 12, 2008. At the upcoming meeting on October 28, the Board will set a timeline for the application process. Should the Board decide to conduct interviews of prospective candidates, the interviews will be held in public session prior to voting to fill the vacant seat. If the Board does not fill the seat within 60 days, President Jeannette Lewis will appoint a new member to the Board.
According to Adams 14 legal counsel Bruce Anderson, the appointee will serve the remainder of Kreutzer’s term, which expires in November 2009.

Board President Jeannette Lewis commented, “This has been a difficult process. Mrs. Kreutzer has shown true commitment to the students and community in Adams 14. We must follow the law, and that is why Mrs. Kreutzer can no longer serve on the Board.”

Members of the community who wish to recommend a citizen for the vacancy on the Board may send a letter to Monica Avina, Assistant Secretary to the Board, Educational Support Services, 5291 East 60th Avenue, Commerce City 80022.

Oh yes, our BOE president can be socially correct. Everyone knows she's been after Angela for some time. I am not saying that she should serve if she isn't living in the district (Angela, that was poor timing).
So who is on the 3 musketeers short list to continue their self distruction??

WHOSE MISGUIDED AND WHOSE MISLEAD?

After reading Ronda Moorehead’s letter in the Beacon on October 29, 2008 about John Zeiler and myself, I have to wonder, Whose Misguided and Whose Mislead? While we respect Rhonda’s right to express her opinions, I also wonder where Rhonda is getting her information?

John Zeiler and I have been attending School Board meetings for the past year. For me personally, this included Regular Meetings, Special Meetings, Budget Meetings, Strategic Planning Meetings and Board Retreats. John Zeiler and I did this because we were concerned about what’s happening to our kid’s schools, especially since the last board election. What’s interesting is that Ronda Moorehead has not been present at any of these meetings. In fact very few community members have been present at these meetings. We feel that we know, first hand, what’s been happening in our schools, and we’re very concerned that things are getting worse.

As to the embezzlement Ronda referred to, let’s get the facts straight. First the current Board President was on the Board during that embezzlement as well. Second, it’s unfortunate but people do steal and sometimes they are very clever about it, in fact the State of Colorado and a trucking firm here in town discovered embezzlements of funds during the same time as we did. Those embezzlements also went unnoticed for a long period of time before they were discovered and were much larger than ours. Third, CLA’s embezzlement was discovered after the School District‘s administration and Mrs. Angela Kreutzer started asking questions about CLA’s finances. When Mrs. Kreutzer demanded an investigation, against the wishes of some of the other Board members including one board member who is currently on the board, CLA suddenly discovered their embezzlement. Finally during the time I was a Board member we worked with the administration to help improve the business side of the school district operations. When some of us tried to bring in additional help in the business office or purchase new software to improve operations, we were blocked by other board members. One former Board member stated, “There’s too many people in the Ad Building already, they don’t need anyone else.” We were blocked even though the auditor’s and consultants stated the business department needed more help. In fact, it was not until a Forensic Audit was completed after the embezzlement which stated the district was understaffed in the business department did the board finally let the administration hire an additional person to help oversee finances.

This is why John Zeiler and I attend School Board meetings. We’re not here to squabble with the School Board members, we’re here to make sure our kids are getting a quality education and that our tax dollars are being used properly. We’re not misguided, but were afraid our community is being misled by a few Board Members. Some of who have no children in the school district and whose real agendas are to control and manipulate the growth and educational needs of Commerce City.

We ask all of you to please pay attention to what’s happening here. Please see for yourself as we have, and don’t be misled and misguided by what you hear. The fact is, we don’t feel we’re misguided, but were concerned some of you may be misled by our current school board.

Sincerely,
Richard A Ford Sr. 720-422-0610

I personally do not think there is anything wrong with this current school board.

I think that Richard Ford and John Zeiler could find better things to do with their time.

Just my opinion!

I agree, I think John Zeiler and Richard Ford should do something else besides always watching and questioning our elected officials, who so they think they are?
