What's the deal with the dog park?don’t seem like a good use of our taxes. went there for a week everyday day to socialize with people living in my city. In that week very few people if any showed up to use it. people didn't pick up after their dogs. gravel very hard to walk on. one of the worst i've been to. for those new to the area i found 2 others that are nicer. one near 104th & colorado the other is on bromley lane just south of the justice center in brighton. new to colorado should i be concerned? did the current city council make the decision to put the dog park in that location with deep gravel?
You need to make friends with ccspeaks, they also see things from the negative.
I have been to the dog park and found it great. Very convienent and much better than some of the others I've used, that are weedy or just dirt. I find the gravel a good middle ground for use. Little mantainence, therefore wise use of our taxes.
As far as others not cleaning up their dogs messes. I suppose that is the fault of the city also??
Personally I haven't been there, lately too much rain, lightening and tornados.

why on earth would council person lewis be sent to vail on our dime, our tax dollars, to 'PARTY ALL NIGHT", when he is off of council, thank God, in about twenty weeks, what a waste, guess it runs in the Lewis family, what a great day in Commerce City when the Lewises are off council and off school board!

I will not reveal who I am, but I know for a fact that you have a weekly binder that has the council norms on it. One of those rules is Praise in Public, Criticize in Private. Your fights are al over the Internet and people are talking.
Even some city officials from other cities are laughing at us.

Benson has not given up his rights as a citizen because he is on council. He can make open records requesta and receive the information.If it was another citizen not on council making the request, how would the city handle it?
I do wonder if other members of council have made similar requests without the publicity Benson is receiving. Has anyone else on council asked for and received information that meets the requirments for an open records request?
And have the council norms been posted yet? The citizens can help council meet the norms- if they are ever public.
Last, I can watch the entire Brighton City Council meeting on channel 8. It is on several times during the week. The Gateway has done a great job of live streaming and posting some of the comments, but it is not the same as Commerce City stepping up and allowing their citizens the transparency that Brighton citizens enjoy. We can spend $80,000 on another market study but still can't film the city council meetings that are in a room designed for this service.

Listening to last night's tapes, especially Scott Jaquith, who I know is an easy going smart person, it is easy to see that Mr. Benson loves to push every envelope possible.
I heard about him painting his tree green, that is a perfect example of him being inconsiderate, but "within" the law.
He may think him self smart, but in my eyes he is a self serving DOPE.
I would like the city to look at the weed growth at 104th and Hwy 2, right below the sign that says {your tax dollars at work}. Weeds are at least 24 to 32 inches tall. Before the city can write any weed violations, it must set the example.

I am not in favor of recalling a council member for doing something as petty as what Jim did.
It will not happen, the citizen need a REAL reason to start a recall. It was not right for Sean, Paul and it is not right for Jim.
Recall threat is used entirely way too much in this town.
Reality is there never has been a successful recall of city council and I honestly think there never will be unless there is a real reason, this is just common sense.

watched the video and sounds like the quintana guy wants the district to be run by hispanics because of the hugh illegal population in the district. I'm sure if look at almost every older school where hispanics are the majority now anglos as he states were there first and attended the school. He has done this with the public, apparently also with the council. Listen to the executive session tapes, they at least give you a little history of his "over the top" methods of dealings.

All city needs to do is play this in court to show that Jim is NOT actng as a counicl member but rather a agent for the original recall group.

I went to jack in the box in the core part of the city. I use to live in California and I have to say jack in box has come a long ways. It was amazing how good it was. I encourge everyone to at least try it one time, anyone would thought they knew jack in the box will be shocked in a good way.
