Andrew Hahn announces he’s running for City Council at Large

To the residents of Commerce City

I would like to announce that I’m running for Commerce City, City Council at Large.

Six years ago my wife of almost 20 years and I decided to move. As I’m a native of Denver and familiar with the entire Front Range we had considered many locations. With our two children in mind we wanted to find a place that had good schools and a strong sense of community that we could call home. We found those qualities here in Commerce City. My years in Commerce City have been a wonderful and rewarding experience. I have had the extreme pleasure to have been a member of the Commerce City Rotary Club, a group of people dedicated to making a difference in the world and in our community. I would like to share the Rotary’s 4 way test with all, as these are the values which I’ve incorporated in my daily life and would apply in the position of City Council.

Of the things we think, say or do.

Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?

Will it build good will and better friendships?

Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

My role and obligation as a council person will be to represent the interests of the citizens of Commerce City equally, fairly, with compassion and respect, and to listen and learn what the citizens concerns are and to work toward positive results. A council person is an ambassador of the city. As an ambassador, you represent the city while working in concert with our city staff to attract industry and business.

I will represent our city and its citizens with pride and professionalism, learning from the past while building on the positive, always moving forward. I am a candidate that can help turn adversity into opportunity. I would like to hear your thoughts, earn your trust, and win your vote.

I welcome your call so please feel free to contact me at 303-475-2503 or email me at ha101@comcast.net.

Respectfully, Andrew Hahn

Regarding the question of Medical Marijuana we were asked to give a Support or Oppose answer.
I would like to follow up with this statement. My first thought would be to oppose a Medical Marijuana Dispensary in city limits of Commerce City, before I would make any judgment on any issue I would look at all the facts to be able to render a fair decision on this or any issue, and as a representative of the people I would listen to what my constituents would have to say so that I would be representing the opinion of the people. In this process I would bring their questions and concerns to the table so they could be addressed as well. In turn the people who are presenting this request would need to show to the people and the city how and why this should be allowed. Some concerns regarding this request would include; security, location and verifications would certainly need to be addressed. With that said please contact me educate me on your proposal so that I may better make a determination on this issue.
