Gateway, which school board members voted for keeping Chandler as superintendent of Adams 14? The voters need to know because there is an election coming up in November.

Gateway News said...

The vote was 3 to 2 to keep Sue Chandler as superintendent of Adams #14.

The 3 board members votes to keep included: Lewis, Klocker & Schimpf.

Archer said...

Glad this finally came up. I have NO problem with the Adams14 school board keeping Sue. I don't know that she has done anything that bad. If so, I would like to hear it.

D14 School District is heading down the right path finally, CSAPs are up from last year.

Let her stay and see if she can continue positive movement.

The solution is not always just to fire and start all over again.

vikki said...

Absolutely no one can say that D#14 is in good shape by any means. It has been an embarrassment for a long time. BUT, no need to make huge sweeping changes every 3 years. And your right CSAPS have gone up.

LET HER WORK, BOARD MADE CORRECT DECISION.

Anonymous said...

Yes Adams 14 needs to keep Sue, at least there has not been any embezzlement under her watch!

Some ACSD 14 Facts said...

In the Adams 14 school district that includes Commerce City, nearly one in five adult residents – or 17 percent – have less than a 9th-grade education. Altogether, 40 percent of adults over the age of 25 living in the district on Denver’s northeastern edge have yet to achieve a high school degree.

Adams 14 had the lowest level of adults aged 25 and over with bachelor’s degrees – 7 percent – among school districts statewide.

We need a good leader with a good heart. I think Sue is that person. Yes the Board made the right decision.

FYI,
I was at a fund raiser at the Palms on Wed and heard Steve Farber say that he expected everyone there to support Tracey Snyder for her run for House district 32. That was followed by an enthusiastic response by Ed Perlmutter stating, he would be supporting Tracey also.
Congrats Tracey..... for the great support coming your way!!

Repost from June said...

Tracey Snyder will be a good House Rep for Commerce City and all of District 32.

Anonymous said...

Tracey is getting a HUGE groundswell of support! Congressman Perlmutter is such a great man and he is right to support her! Congrats Tracey! You have worked hard and come through alot and deserve to go to the House!

Anonymous said...

That is such great news for Tracey! We seniors love her and know that she is genuine in her desire to take care of our City! And just think-all of her experience and no how from being on Council all these years will continue on at the Capitol! Go Tracey! We are all on board with Team Tracey!

Pro Casso said...

Again Congressman Perlmutter is making a mistake by choosing a preferred candidate that is up for election when he does not even KNOW who the hell else is running.

I see Perlmutter possible changing his mind later on down the 2012 HD32 road!

So please Pro Casso tell who you would back??
Moreno?
Casso has been a huge disappointment and the fact that you still back him tells me you do not have good instincts.

I am not aware that Mr. Moreno has announced anything as of yet. Mr. Moreno is concentrating on trying to move our city forward. Unlike some of the council members. (More on this later).

Estelle Remington said...

As a city and state we have passed a point-of-no-return in attracting major business projects. An article in the Denver Post, July 1, 2011, said that Gaylord and the National Stock Shows "combined $1.15 billion project can't be economically developed without the state incentives." The National Stock Show is seeking 6.1 million in RTA (Regional Tourism Act.) funding and will "ask Denver Taxpayers to approve up to 150 million in bonds to pay for part of the move to Aurora." RTA will award up to $50 million a year in sales tax rebated for projects of an "extraordinary and unique nature." Gaylord is a self-contained business and does not want shopping malls or restaurants built around them. Aurora taxpayers will be paying the $300 million tax incentive package for the privilege of collecting sales and use taxes from Gaylord. It is just my opinion but CC missed the bullet but shot itself in the foot in that from now on the expectation will be that future business will expect large incentive packages to build in CC. Part of which, come out of already low building and Park Impact fees which we desperately need for future growth in the North, just to survive these coming years.

Comment: There needs to be some kind of a dress code for public members sitting in front of cameras for City Council meetings. I wonder, if women that sit in these front chairs realize that people can view their bare legs and have no where else to look! Mr. Serna was way out of order in insisting that what he had to say was more important than City Council business and just refused to take his discussion to the proper venue saying he probably would not remember his points. Write them down like the rest of public has to do. He seems to expect special treatment and what is more concerning is that he gets special treatment even when the City Attorney tried to get the meeting back on track. City Council had to take a 5 minute recess just to get things back in order. Mr. Serna puts on quite a show. Where was the Mayor Pro-Tem in all of this? Mr. Moreno had to restore order.

I am going to take a very different view of the gaylord project. You are all worried about what money the city of Commerce City would gt out of it. I say, what we would have gotten, money could not have bought. We would have gotten RESPECT! We would have gotten the ATTENTION of not only the Denver Metro Area, but the state and country! We would of had a world class soccer facility, and resort!

It would have been a GREAT GREAT thing for Commerce City!

Lastly, that whole imagine thing we have since the 70s, that would have been a thing of the past.

from Post article:

In September, Aurora Mayor Ed Tauer, Mitchell and Hammil arranged for a meeting with Gaylord officials, and they flew to Nashville. At the time, a site in Commerce City was the leading contender in the metro area, Mitchell said. A Broomfield location also was under consideration.

The Aurora boosters introduced the Gaylord leaders to their city and proposed that they take a closer look at it in their search for a Denver-area hotel and conference center. But it wasn't until about January that Gaylord officials indicated that Aurora had emerged as the favorite.

"Commerce City just didn't have enough land," Mitchell said. "They couldn't assemble the pieces of land to accommodate the stock show."

A friend of Commerce City said...

Pro City 2,
Again it is jut more excuses, Mitchell who said "Commerce City just didn't have enough land," maybe biased. Wendy Mitchell is the president and chief executive of the Aurora Economic Development Council.

OF COURSE she is going to put down Commerce City.

What I don't understand is why the GayLord Project was not ever presented the idea that Commerce City has abundant open land in the north range?

I wish the Commerce City staff would have been as ruthless as the Aurora team was.

Why didn't we have a "team" flying to Nashville?

We go to China chasing the Communist Economic Dream, HELL we even send our Top Cream of the Crop Staff to Germany.

Why not send someone, anyone to Nashville? Obviously, I assume the Commerce City economic department knew the inside details of this. God knows Commerce City Council has had NUMEROUS executive sessions about this, right?

Before Commerce City residents voted down the NASCAR opportunity, there were serious talks going on with both the stock show and the Gaylord Hotel. No secret- there was plenty of land north of DIA. This could have been a joint Denver- Commerce City project if not for the current mayor using fear as an opportunity to get elected. Now another major opportunity lost because someone (Natale) thought he was smarter than the people who were working on the project. So very sad

So Pro Casso,
You say you have more info for later that is supposed to do what? Try to tear Tracey Snyder down? This is typical Casso behavior. We are tired of this ongoing attack on Ms. Snyder when we all know she is working very hard (despite her painful and difficult recovery) and doing a really good job. So what should we expect from your camp now? More of the same? We all know Ed Casso hates Tracey and that he will do and say anything to keep her out of the State seat, which again only shows he doesnt care one bit about what is best for Commerce City. Maybe he should finally grow up and make the peace with her and realize that she is a great girl and has the best interest of the City at heart. As for Ed Perlmutter, do you really think a great leader like him would suddenly change his mind and support someone else in the 11th hour? I think you must not know him very well.
Dominic Moreno should stay right where he is and finish his term at the very least.
Pro Casso keep your Tracey Snyder bashing to yourself. We are sick of hearing it!

Anonymous said...

Pro Casso,
The more you bash Tracey Snyder the more we know that you and your opinions cannot be trusted. Ed Casso was indeed a huge dissapointment, I agree with others who say that all the time. Do you even know Tracey Snyder? Do you know that she broke her back and has been in terrible pain ever since, yet she makes the meetings, runs them whenever the Mayor is gone, meets all of her public obligations, stays on her NLC Committees? I dont know what more anyone could ask for from this young lady. Dont worry Tracey-we all know who you are and we stand behind you 100%!!

Anonymous said...

Estelle,
In reading your many comments (there are alot of them!) I see you questioned the way Mayor Pro Tem Snyder handled the meeting with Mr. Serna and his insistence to be heard. Mr. Moreno has never run any meeting, and he did not restore order at all! Tracey does a great job and I have heard the Council and people at the meetings say they enjoy her meetings. I see her refering these things to the City Attorney and asking the right questions. She understands that rather or not you agree with Mr Serna or not, he is still a citizen, and should be treated as such. Tracey does a great job, is fair, and moves these meetings along.
Why dont you run for Council? Everyone is asking you to put the rubber to the road! Its easy to sit behind your computer and be critical of others, much harder to step in and do the job!

Anonymous said...

Mayor Pro Tem Snyder was seen at the Rapids/4th Fest with Michael Bennett. She has great relationships with our Congressional Representatives, and that is very good for Commerce City!

Pro Casso said...

My point about Perlmutter is that he made a decision based on the "current" candidates. We have no idea who else would run.
Second point, just because you go to meetings and events does not make you a capable leader.

I am sure Tracey is a wonderful person, but we need a leader that will not flip on its party. A leader that will have the thick skin to handle all that the house will throw at you.

This is not a puppet city council. This is REAL politics.

I would rather see Kaarl Hoopes then Tracey "flipper" Snyder as the HD32 rep.

Pro Casso said...

Tracey can't even run a meeting with order according to you on your own citizens:

Mrs. Remington: "He seems to expect special treatment and what is more concerning is that he gets special treatment even when the City Attorney tried to get the meeting back on track. Estelle Remington said...

I spent ten hours rewatching the June 27th meeting and if you watch nothing else, watch Kim Higgins independent audit.

On our April 2007, City Council retreat, it was decided to take about 3 million dollars from the Northern fund to help finance Pioneer Park. It was to be paid back in small increments of about $300,000 each year. But, in 2011, there was still 1.2 million to be paid back to the Northern fund. Which, CM Flannery said, "Should have been in the first place." Moreover, there was no way to know how much was actually paid back or where it was re-spent.

The one thing we do know is that it never benefited the Northern Range as it was intended.

Roger Tinklenberg was reviewing a list of 37 items for the Appropriation Ordinance of 4 million for 2011 budget. One of the items was for a median completion and bike path for Chambers Rd. for $300,000. Flannery said, "Because of future (Retail.) development." However, there has been no money for these past 4 to 5 years as it went to Pioneer Park. Thus, families that lived along the Heartland, Back 9 and Outlook from 112th St. to 104th had no way to safely walk or bike in that area.

One of the most flagrant lack of oversights came out of the Independent Audit with Kim Higgins. The Department of Parks and Recreation is in part funded by Federal Grants and matching money. For these past 4 to 5 years, Parks and Rec has not been in compliance with Federal regulations which any professional Grant writer knows that it is vital to stay in good standing to receive continuing Federal Grants.

* We did not get money advancements back in 10 days. * Not in compliance more than $10,000 amounts. * Drew down cash and did not match within 10 days. * Vendors hired that had been disbarred and/or suspended. * Drew down cash and did not match properly or in a timely manner.

Any Federal Grants over $500,000 needs a direct audit which was not done. For any energy efficiency block grants we can go to a web-site and see if a vendor is not suspended or disbarred from Federal Grant money. We must flag capital assets paid by Federal Funds. We did not properly ID Recovery Act money. We were considered a high risk and needed an audit of 50% of Grant money. We responded by retraining staff and writing a corrective plan. There should be a complete public audit to understand this complete lack of oversight.

They practice strict Hazmat procedures. The pipeline rolls with ground vibrations and movement and is covered with four foot of soil. They follow strict Federal protocol. They monitor the pipeline by truck, helicopter, walking inspections every 3 to 6 months as needed. All, he had to do was listen and I saw him sitting there throughout the presentation.

Pro Casso,
I cant believe that I just read that you would rather see Karl Hoopes, a Republican with not one single minute of any kind of experience win the seat instead of Tracey Snyder! Talk about flipping!
Maybe you really are Ed Casso himself, because he is mean spirited and awful when it comes to Tracey. Reference the text messages and the way he treats her on a regular basis. Everyone sees through this bad behavior. If you cant get her out of the way than bully her, right?
Tracey made a decision to change parties three years ago, and she gave some very compelling reasons for doing so. Changing parties does not make you a bad person! In fact, the Democrats are lucky to have her!
Seriously Casso, enough already! She has been a great Councilwoman and an outstanding Mayor Pro Tem. She will do great as our House District Rep!

Anonymous said...

The fact that Tracey allowed a very upset and adamant citizen speak at a meeting does not mean she lost control at all. Anyone who watched the meeting knows that meeting went until late into the night, and everything went very well, as all of her meetings do! Estelle does not speak for everyone. In fact, it seems she goes to great lenghts to be negative and write and write her long comments, but when asked to step up and run for Council, it seems she isnt prepared to do so.
I suggest we support those who have been, and are, willing to do the job.

Anonymous said...

Sorry to dissapoint Pro Casso,
but Ed Perlmutter made a great decision by getting behind a good and hard working girl. Ed can see what we already know, and that is that Tracey will work hard and put our city first! May I say, once again, that Mr. Moreno did not have to step in and take control of anything! Anonymous said...

Dear "in the know" you are not.
I know that the mayor went to Nashville twice trying to bring Gaylord to Commerce City. Once right after his election and again to try and prove the best location was in CC.
He first showed them a perfect place near DIA, but Gaylord didn't like the dump mountain and feared it would not be a good appearing neighbor for there hotel. (this mayor had nothing to do with the dumps placement)
Gaylord chose a new location in CC close to the stadium, allowing Denver to work with the stock show placement.
p.s. the mayor tried to get NASCAR to meet with him for a different location that would have been ideal for all.
Obviously YOU ARE NOT IN THE KNOW!

Anonymous said...

Pro Casso,
Lets take a look at some of the things Tracey does, since you and Ed have such an issue with her. Ok, so the entire Council just voted to send her to the ICSC Conference, which is completely about bringing in new business to the City. She is very business minded and I hear they did an excellent job out there!
She just got back from the Women In Municiple Government Conference, where I hear she is the only representative from Colorado. She serves on the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Steering Committee, which I was told is very hard to get on, because its a popular committee. So she was obviously good enough to be chosen to serve on that, and she was appointed as the State of Colorado Chair for the Democratic Municiple Officials in November. This is just a small portion of what she does. Sounds like a good leader to me. I think the others are right-you are just all about bashing her because you and your buddie Ed Casso cant take it that she just might be alot better than he is!!

I would ask you what has ICSC Conference ever brought to Commerce City? Sounds like to me it is a waste of tax payers money or insane thinking. Commerce City keeps going back to Vegas thinking they are going to actually bring back a business and they never do. So again it is either a waste of the tax payers money or insane thinking (doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome).

Now for the Women In Municipal Government Conference and being the only one from Colorado. That there should tell you a lot about the group.

Public Safety and Crime Prevention Steering Committee? Is Commerce City safer these days? Heard you had a problem with street lighting in the core area?

Pro Casso,
We have all decided that no matter what good things Ms. Snyder does or has done for our City, you are going to find a way to twist it into something else. This is a pretty clear indication that you really have nothing at all, so you go about your day bashing someone who really doesnt deserve it.
Commerce City has come a very long way. And big things have been done on her watch. Alot of the recent Economic Development has been done in her ward. Obviously the City and the staff feel that there is benefit in going to ICSC, sorry that your one jaded mans opinion does not really matter.
Women In Municiple Government is a large group that brings elected women from all over the country together. This is an NLC group, just as the Public Safety Sterring Committee is. So you also must not believe in the value of the National League of Cities, since you think the groups that come out of that are worthless. You may want to mention this to Mr. Moreno, as he is also on one of these committes that you find without merit! Oh and I did a bit of checking on NLC and I found out that Kathy Novak, Mayor of Northglenn, is the outgoing President of NLC. Apparently she also missed your memo about the lack of value in being involved with NLC. Right!!

Dear Gateway readers,
Having been called multiple times by people that have either seen the blog or had questions about things they have seen in the blog, I thought I would address some things.

First of all, I want to say a huge Thank You to everyone who has been so supportive of me. You have been there for me while I was your Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem. You have been there for me throughout my entire recovery, and have stood by me, and I want you to know that your support means the world to me.

Several months ago the Gateway News became aware of the unfortunate text messages I got from Representative Ed Casso. It is no secret that Ed and I do not see eye to eye, and that I was quite shocked at his reaction to my request for his help for a project involving children in our district. While I fail to understand Mr. Casso's behavior, I choose to focus on the future and the goals that we have.

As many of you know, after almost a decade of my life, I am term limited as a City Councilmember. It has been my true honor to serve you all these years.
After several people asked me to continue to fight for our great city, I announced that I would run for House District 32.

Yes, it is true that I changed parties a few years ago. I would be happy to talk to anyone who has questions about my decision. I feel that now more than ever, I am in touch with our people and your needs.

I believe that together we can work hard to and do great things. While there will always be negativity out there, we must stay strong, focus on the positive, and keep moving forward.

Having lived here my entire life, I am so encouraged by the hard working, great people of this City. Together we can and will make a difference!

Again, my heartfelt thank you to each and everyone of you. This campaign is dedicated to you!

Kindest Regards,

Thank you Tracey for your letter to all of us that stay in touch via the Gateway. We appreciate your imput and recognition that we are out here and in touch with what is going on. I do believe that you are the best choice for HD 32. Dominic is a nice enough kid, but he hasnt served even half of his first term. Tracey has served all of her term and then some. Experience says go with Tracey. Also we need a break from Ed Casso and his group, of which Dominic Moreno is a big part of. We need fresh blood in there, not more of the same with a different face.
We are all here for you Tracey! Go for it!!

Well Wes, you would have to ask Ed Casso about that, since he was the one who said it. We would all like to know what that meant! Most of us think it was another way to bully Tracey by making her feel like there was no way she could win the seat since he was backing someone else with all those advantages!

Unreal,
I read the comments and can only come to the conclusion that the people who are leaving them are the friends and family of Tracey "Flipper" Snyder.

You don't just flip parties and expect to not be taken to task on it.

You don't run Commerce City the way she did and expect outsiders not to take notice.

I ask all of you honestly, is Commerce City in a better place after 8 years since Tracey has been in charge?

Being a leader in the state is a little bit bigger deal then pleasing your friends in a city that you grew up in.

She is NOT a leader, she DID flip her party.

The Democrats deserve and will get more.

That folks, is not being mean, that is a promise. PERIOD!

I do not have to run for anything. There are many qualified people out there. If, what I write is too long to read, don't read it. I watch City Council meetings for hours and take pages of notes for myself and for those who don't have that kind of time. At this last meeting, a loud conversation continued at the back of the room and Tracy had stepped out for some reason. Mr. Moreno had to step in to restore order. This is not bashing Tracy. It is stating facts. Watch it for yourself. Tracy stepped out after Mr. Serna spoke. She should have asked for a recess. People on this blog are attacking personalities not addressing real issues: We have no money for Northern infrastructure and development; We have a third-world area in Adams 14 with severe poverty and hunger; Adams 14 needs to close down and reorganize; The Northern Range may have to de-annex to survive.

Tracey has a very involved list of what she has worked on, Casso was either absent/in office or ignoring our pleas.
There is no doubt CC is in a better place now than 8 yrs ago. It is better respected and represented.

No, I am not related to Tracey. I have met her and know what she stands for. Now I stand in her corner.

Tracey Snyder represents at a city level. I do a lot of reading, as many of you I like to be informed. Conclusion, NO Commerce City is NOT in a very good place after this past eight years when Snyder has been in charge.

On Commerce City's Website is a Q&A with Communications Director Michelle Halstead, she says:

"Unlike many communities in the Denver area, Commerce City is a vibrant city that’s positioned to grow considerably in the coming years, both in terms of its population and economically and culturally. This is evident from recent census figures that show Commerce City as the state’s fourth fastest growing community from 2000 to 2010. As a communications professional, I find this type of environment very energizing and demanding. There are always new challenges to address when it comes to not only keeping everyone informed of decisions made by the city, but more importantly why these decisions are for the betterment of the community. This makes my job very rewarding."

Am I reading this wrong? Or is this being mean to other "communities"?

Is she saying other "communities" are not vibrant and not positioned to grow considerably in the coming years, both in terms of its population and economically and culturally?

How does she know?

Estelle,
I am more interested in the Adams City concept. I still think combining the 2 cities, Brighton and Commerce City would be the best scenario.

Think of what force we would be. A city of 70, almost 80 thousand. That would give us a bigger seat at any table.

Maybe not for a couple of years. But I do hope this "Adams City", the county seat of Adams County would come true.

Once she lost election for State seat she did 4 more on Council (and I don't know when she was ever "in charge" of anything). Now that she is term limited she will run for a State seat again as a DEMOCRAT. I think it is clear Tracey needs both a job and a to feel important - You know a POLITICIAN! She also asked Councilwoman Teter to cover for the less than five minutes she was gone. Not Dominic Moreno. Isnt it funny how you think you know everything and then the real facts come out? If the metting went out of control the minute she stepped out than that is not her fault. Stop this ridiculous Tracey bashing!

1) Pro Casso and/or Ed Casso are hateful and mean spirited. This is not going to change no matter how much information we give them or what we say. So we should probably stop trying to reason with the unreasonable.

2] We know what Tracey believes in, stands for, and has done during her two terms on Council. My guess is Pro Casso hasnt seen her run one meeting.

3) We know we stand behind her. So lets get out and help her, and talk to others about doing the same, and most importantly VOTE!

Lets stop giving the Casso group our time and attention. They dont deserve it.

You are all really great people, and Tracey told me how much she appreciates you all!

Ed C. (Pro Casso).
You still have given NO examples of what has been accomplished by Mr Casso while in office that is a benefit to CC. You do what most politicos do....vague answers no "meat". of any sort.
You quote one persons OPINION about Tracey (in one meeting) and that same person's OPINION about the city's finances. She is known through out the city as being a bit eccentric ( in simple language "out there") and is constantly dissatified with life. She dislikes her neighbors, neighborhood, the road behind her, many of people in the core, the train, school board, Adams county, city council, INS, city of CC...you name it she doesn't like it
Your link to CC's survey alone disproves your contention. If read in entirety, it shows the improvement that citizens have seen. The fact alone that the city wants to know is an improvement.
Again....what has Ed done for us????
ps your Tracey bashing is great, we are all standing behind her now. Keep it up!!

Back to the Xcel natural gas pipeline, the one that could explode and wipe out basin F at the old arsenal and most of our city, that pipeline, the "safe" one. I have a few comments. First of all at every Xcel meeting open house they have had and also at city council, did anyone else notice that when Xcel reps cannot answer a question, they fold their hands and bow their heads, like they are ready to start leading us all in prayer. I pray but this is just really creepy to me. Also how come the mayor and even one of our three city managers did not bother to attend this meeting? The mayor can go to a ball game and throw tshirts but can't be bothered about an exploding pipeline? And another thing the Xcel rep said that Xcel doesn't do so much wind energy because "wind farms are ugly", he actually said that! And those of you who are saying this is "safe", whatcha going to say in the future if something happens? Then maybe you will regret your carefree attitude now. You'd better watch what you say.

Absolutely nothing to proud of or "hang your hat on".

She had 8 years to get business out by the stadium and not a single business has come.

Gotta love the drama lesson.
Exploding pipe line??
Really?
How do you know that the council members haven't been at many meetings with Excel.
The public meetings are just that, for the public.
Except for one council member, who is using this to grand stand (first thing he has been interested in his ward since he bacame elected) attended, does not mean the council is not very well involved in this situation.
It is just possible, that attending the public meetings could affect the council members ability to vote without prejudice.
The theatrics are a bit old.
Exploding pipes!? With all of the state federal and local regulations, city council, & city mgrs who live in the area, do you really think they won't do everything they can to protect the residents.

Wes, Northern Range -

I was monitoring the official NWS forecast page (and had the NOAA All Hazards Radio on) during the times the sirens were a blaring up here in Reunion and there were no Tornado Watches or Warnings issued. I sometimes wonder where Commerce City gets their weather information from. The sirens up here are beginning to be a boy who cried wolf phenomenon. I understand they are covering their butts because the one time they do not sound the alarm and something happens there will be hell to pay but the false alarms are also ridiculous.

Steve Ruge - Reunion said...

On another front - how does one go up to Brighton and ask if they want to annex the North Range? We can't annex into Denver because their boundaries are essentially frozen by law since 2000. Would Brighton even want to become part of a mega city of 70 - 80K or do they feel they would lose their small town charm? Do they have the finances to add on to their community? Just some questions I have off the top of my head.

Community service

I have served CC on different committees since 2005. I took Police Academy training and served on two Citizens Advisory Committees for about 18 months each. I was a key writer of the new Travel Expense Plan for CC along with Jean Klein. I contributed to the new C3 Comprehensive Plan and was Co-Chair for two different elections and organized four different Political Forums also did voter training and registration for two elections at Walmart, King Soopers and a tractor show! We also held several educational meetings to help voters understand current ballot issues in both English and Spanish. I made several contacts to see if we could not get ballot questions in Spanish and get Spanish speakers to help on election day at machines. I have worked tirelessly for a Park and Playground for the Eagle Creek subdivision and have also held meetings to petition to annex into the 27J School district. I have been in contact with the State Board of education to see what can be done to increase our children's education at Eagle Creek subdivision. I applied for a Board of Education position for Adams 14 School District but arrangements were already made to have a returning Board member fill that position, because, "they did not want to start from scratch." Throughout the years, I have had several meetings with different City Council members and the mayor to get their point of view and I have supported members with yard signs and money and yes, I have supported Tracy Snyder for years. I am currently starting on a new Advisory Committee and continue to talk to Council members. Thus, I have six years of community service behind me. As Tracy Snyder, I have had two serious surgeries and have had to sit a few sessions out lately. I have read and studied thousands of pages of information for the city and contributed many e-mails to committee leaders. I gathered information and worked for one week on the people's house for the City Manager and contributed a master time-line to review.

Just because they would be a 'female' does not necessarily mean they are the right PERSON for the job.

Thank you to Commerce City Council Jim Benson for testifying about state redistricting.

Jim Benson: "Jim Benson of Commerce City talks about growth there. Please don't divide our city."

Mr. Moreno was also down in Denver testifying for Commerce City.

Steve Ruge - Reunion said...

The fact is that the entire North Range (including Reunion) is being neglected at the cost of everything funneling south. CC is oddly laid out and the wildlife refuge puts a big obstacle in the middle of the city and almost geographically divides the city into two.

Honestly, there are times that myself and many other North Range people would be much happier being annexed by someone else - someone who would show some interest in this part of CC. It is idiotic that the CC government either can't or does not give enough concern that tax money is literally leaking out of the North Range. They are giving this money away freely to Aurora, Thornton, and Brighton. I just don't understand how they can't seem to stop this economic leakage.

So perhaps you are right - Estelle and I should storm city hall and take over. Or at least start the movement to merge with another city - who can better handle the growth.

I don't believe there are any board with current openings or I would go and apply.

The name "Stinky Town" date back to the early 1970s.

I am afraid it will also be in the context when people talk about Commerce City. So sad.

stinky town comment aside.

It is very important that Commerce City does not get split up in this Rep. v. Dem. boundary fight.

Didn't the GOP already admit that they were trying to cheat the re-redistricting project in their advantage?
