Mayor Paul Natale "I cannot believe how ugly the election for mayor is getting. The trash blog got one of the stations to pick it up. they must be really afraid of Robert Tavos. i will be glad when it is all over."
I am glad to see the current mayor supporting Tovos!
None of these so called arrests should have been in the public!
ummmmm hey BED,
I am not really sure the mayor is supporting Toavs (correct spelling).
But maybe I am wrong?
I would like to know why the Commerce City voters in the different wards are so different in numbers.
Re: recycling location Highway 2 in Commerce City.
"Over an 11-week period, the city’s public works department removed more than 40 tons of trash and debris unrelated to recycling,” said Brian McBroom, deputy city manager for external services. “From hypodermic needles, carpets, furniture and even scrap metal, it’s clear the facility is no longer meeting its original intent.”
Now with the proposed new medical waste processing facility by mile high market place, the city can just transfer the contents!
The one thing that everybody is forgetting about when it comes to the different numbers of registered voters in the wards is that the wards are based on the number of residents and not registered voters. So the wards are all within something like 5% of being equal.
so ward 1 must have a lot of kids under 18?
or ward 1 must have a lot of people who never took the time to register to vote ever?
I get it.
Ward voters
As far as I remember, all the Wards are equally divided according to population. After this last Census, new population lines have been drawn that's why republicans and democrats get so upset and also why some candidates change party affiliations. That is why for city council it does not matter which party one belongs to. Thus, each Ward should have the same number of people living there. However, if a Ward has only a certain number of eligible voters that can register to vote, we get these lopsided numbers. The Northern Range has almost twice the eligible registered voters as the other Wards but basically the same population numbers. Usually, it is the older generation that votes and each year people die. Voters get discouraged with the quality of candidates that run for office and feel their vote makes no difference then they drop out. About 82% of CC voters have dropped out of active voting but will support a Recall to get out poor quality of service to the community because that means so much more to them. So, Recalls do not necessarily come from those that voted candidates in, but those that can not abide lack of commitment to service. Ward 2 should probably be divided into another Ward because of population growth. That's, why we have so many invested qualified candidates in Ward 2. Moreover, (And, I know, people will get upset with this observation.) we are lopsided in numbers of educated people who are interested in city council in the North and therefore more active in pursuing seats.
GN, thanks for posting those voter numbers,
I find those voter by ward numbers paint a vivid picture of Commerce City.
Proof is in the math. People really do not care. More to the fact, people really really do not care in ward one.
I would like to see a push to get Commerce City Wards ONE and FOUR to have more "active" voters then "inactive" voters.
Maybe that can be something the city can have as one of their new priorities.
some amazing kids in Belle Creek this year. Great costumes.
Had not one but two TEBOWS! Amazing after his performance in Sunday.
I made them do a Tebowing before I gave them any candy.
Nice FOP in CC gets their picks!
SO sad on 3D. Looks like it is going to be a hard year with some hard choices!
Congratulations Mayor Sean Ford and Councilmembers Steve Douglas, Rick Teter, Crystal Elliot and Jim Benson! What a great night for Commerce City! Now, let's get this city rolling.
Rolling into the dark days of Commerce City!
surprised that Sumner didn't make it.
Jim really nailed it this time around.
I bet he will run for mayor next now that we have this special rule that mayor and council are different.
CONGRATULATIONS TO CRYSTAL!!!!!!!!!!
YOU DID IT GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
personally thought diaz had it in cc. oh well.
CRRRRRRRRRystal!!!!!! You go girl! You ran a clean and great campaign and you did it! Congratulations!
Mayor Sean Ford by a landslide! He will be a great mayor. Huge crowd came to congratulate him, it was so positive. Great speeches tonight.
Rick Teter the Firefighter, Rick Teter, new Council for Ward 4! We love you, Rick!
Dave Rolla, Larry Quintana and Mary Morton all won in Adams 14. We have new hope!
Congratulations to the new Mayor of Thornton, Heidi Williams. She's a great businesswoman.
Great Results!
Way to go Sean!
Like Jim as the WATCHDOG!
Crystal and Steve will be great!
Good TEAM in Place.
heard mcbroom was at sean party?
ummmm.
We all know Tom should have gotten the job!
Congradulations to Ricky Teter.
To those who did not make it.
Thank you for running. Please stay involved in the city. Go for boards and commissions Don't get discouraged.
Crystal Elliott! YES! Thank you Voters!
COMMERCE CITY QUESTION 2G (Marijuana Tax) - Passed--- Whats next Tax on Theft?
BRIGHTON 27J SCHOOL DISTRICT ISSUE 3D (Mill Levy Override) - Failed--- SAD Just a SAD SAD THING!
looks like the mayors endorsing 3d didn't work.
also looks like the advertisement at bus shelter @ Monaco & E. 72nd Ave. didn't work for at-large. GOOD JOB STEVE!
Heard ford made some off comment about not going to China.
Fine, just throw away all the hard work the staff and STILL current council has DONE!
WOW! Leffel really cant ever get on council! DAAAAMN!
Maybe a shave will do it next time!
You know what they say. 4th time is the charm!
dark day in 27j.
Why did so many disappoint us?
We tried so hard to explain the need.
I am so disappointed.
It wasn't an off remark. Mayor Ford said it in his speech that he was going to promote businesses right here and no more trips to China. Hurray for Mayor Ford, China was a big waste.
looks like 32% active voted for mayor. not bad for commerce city historically.
Thank you Gateway, for keeping everyone informed.
Crystal and Steve,
Do us proud!
It is all in your hands now.
Don't let ANYONE tell you how to do anything. Vote for what is best for those of us you represent.
Like some of you, I am surprised that Diaz did not make it.
He was the council's choice as an appointment.
Sumner was the second choice.
Can't help but to think this is a message to council in general?
Jim is back! OH MAN!
Needs to be an CC ordnance
NO Lawyers within 900 feet of the council chambers!
Got to LOVE the internet.
I remember the old days when all we had were newspapers and phones.
Much easier now. Results come right to my phone.
Congrats to Sean ans the rest of the gang that got elected in C-Town!
Adams County Accepting Applications for RTD Board Member Vacancy... Do you have what it takes?
http://t.co/88mDNlWb
China was not a big waste!
They are just too stupid to realize it!
Dark Days Ahead!
Yeah Crystal! So excited you got elected.
Look forward to seeing you in action.
Thanks for stopping by and talking to me!
Shame shame shame on voters who voted no on 27j mill levy override. Very very sad commentary on how our community does not value our children and their education.
Steve Douglas won just by a hair over the appointed Diaz.
I would like to see Steve really shine.
You may not always agree with him, but has a good positive direction.
Incumbent Klocker only lost by 32 votes!
Oh how it could have been different if he would have done the right thing by NOT going along with the censure!
Crystal Elliott was the top vote getter - 1779 Votes 28.11% total.
Kicking all the guys asses!
Mark one up for Woman Kind!
I can see Crystal running the 2 terms at large then jumping into Mayor!
Our first Mayor of Commerce City as a WOMEN!
Way to Go Crystal!
MG
Glad to know there is only one unfortunate and deeply confused individual who thinks Tom Acres should have been appointed as City Manager. A City Manager is the leader of the City. To lead you must have the respect of, and credibility with those being lead (Council and staff)- Tom Acres has never had this and he will never have it - sorry, move on! Brian MacBroom is a man of integrity, well experienced and qualified - he will do a great job.
Great new Council members will work well with existing members to get this City organizational structure and spending on unnecessary high level staff under control. Good Job Voters - I can't wait to talk to all of you about the next election while we are standing in line at our new King Soopers!
Sean,
I hope you read this blog and start cleaning up the core city!!! Give people a reason to be in both parts!!!
Glad Sean says he is not going to China. Look at his pictures. He is an embarassment.CC is not that city any more. Sorry the voters don't know this
Looking at the photo on the main page. Looks like someone played the present mayor for a fool. He should have realized there are no real friends watching his back.
Nope. Klocker would have lost by a landslide if he had not done the right thing and voted to censure Lewis. He gained votes by finally going against her continued, dispicable behavior. Sadly, over the years, Mr. Klocker lost his real base by catering to Lewis. I think Mrs. Lewis wrote that comment herself. We know she reads and writes on this blog even though her actions against the Gateway time and time again have been deplorable. She's done punishing and bullying everyone and an army of people will oppose her if she tries to run for any office again. By the way, she's not nearly as smart as she thinks she is. No one with a lick of sense or brains would have done the things she has done. She's earned her legacy.
Congratulations to Steve Douglas! I understand he ran his campaign without excepting 1 donation. He is a fine gentleman who will represent our city with dignity and respect for all.
Sean may not spend time in China, but he did spend time in India for free (got thousands of dollars from the same people who took him on the trip).
Hmmmmm
He probably shouldn't make snide comments, they may just bite him in the butt.
has anyone started the recall petition yet? I'm ready to sign before this group kill business growth and property values in the north.
Outside of Benson does anyone have a college education or is not in personal financial ruin?
American citizen
In the beginning only land or property owners and only males could vote in the Thirteen United States. And, so far as I am aware only American citizens are eligible to vote in American elections. It is more than just getting people to sign up to vote, they must be able to read English and be a citizen of the United States to participate in elections. The State of California votes in many languages but the people are all citizens of U.S. In today's government it takes about 5 years to become a citizen and costs about $5,000 for all the paperwork which is not that expensive when one considers the freedom one gains.
This was a comment on the Commerce City Beacon Website.
GN,
Do you know anything about this?
VOTE AGAINST GENE
"Thank you for everyone who voted against this evil man. This man has sexually harrassed women for years and has never been convicted. This man calls women breeders behind their backs and forces his sons to continue his harrassment through physical abuse. Look at this man, look at his life, and look at the people he attracts. Is this who you want running your city? I sure don't. Please vote against Gene Lefel."
Gateway,
This was also on the Commerce City Beacon's website as a comment about at-large candidate Gene Leffel:
"This is the most sexist man alive. I worked with him at a previous job and he considers all women "breeders". If you have any self respect as a woman or any respect for women as a man do not vote for this man."
by the same user named mator89
Wonder why this person does not like Leffel so much?
I PERSONALLY KNOW MR. LEFFEL AND THIS IS PURE HOGWASH!
I DON'T HAVE ANY CLUE WHY BEACON DID THIS!
THIS MAN HAS GIVEN MORE TO THIS COMMUNITY THEN MOST ALL OF YOU COMBINED!
GENE WILL BE ON THE COMMERCE CITY COUNCIL SOMEDAY AND YOU ALL JUST HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT!
IF NOT VOTED IN, HE WILL BE APPOINTED!
oh wow!
this is getting good.
damage control.
advice: don't use all caps. sounds like you are yelling at us.
It's true,
these comments are on the Commerce City BEACON website!
Had to see it to believe it.
Only got 52 views. Of course those people will tell other people.
I am sure it has been flagged by now.
It will be interesting to see if Commerce City Beacon leaves it up.
18.86 percent of voters cast ballot in 2011 Commerce City election!
Improvement from years past! But we can do better.
I am so Angry that 3D failed.
I really do not understand!
Maybe some of you who voted against it can tell me WHY?
Mayor Hancock "Some cultures are different and the Japanese culture is one where you have to build relationships over time."
They exact SAME it TRUE for CHINA.
Ford wants to throw all of our hard work away!
FINE! GOOD LUCK COMMERCE CITY!
I WILL BE WATCHING for the sidelines see how all this is going to play out.
here i thought the hungry "blog" would calm down after the election.
guess not.
Unreal!
Shocked the CC Beacon did this to Gene Leffel.
Hope this black eye will heal before the next election.
I can tell you why I voted against it.
Bottom line figures. Can't do it. Asking for $ at a very bad time.
Nothing to do with not liking kids or against the school district.
Simply can't afford it.
Times get better. Sure not a problem.
But we are not in those times now.
Sorry.
JBT, Business Owner/voter
Does it matter if Commerce City Beacon takes down the 2 comment. Whoever this Mator89 person is let the cat out of the bag.
It got 55 views. That is too much in Commerce City. People will talk.
Getting the Cat back in the bag at this point will be impossible.
Beacon's story has 56 views in 2 hours.
Has to be some kind of a record!
Really surprising this is in the Beacon.
looks like Denver auditor favors backing out of incentives to relocate stock show.
Good for us in CC?
Larry Quintana
I have been trying to compose a statement thanking all who supported me with their votes to get re-elected, it is a massive challange because so many of you did so not only at the ballot box but with your prayers and word of encouragement.
To the many in Northern Commerce City who could not vote in the A14 election you stood with me and helped me in ways one cannot immagine.
Their were others who did not live in CC but you held me up during this, one of the most challanging time of my life.
To the Adams 14 community who cast their vote for me I am truly committed to make A14 a front runner in the education of your children, grand children and great grandchildren.
I thank my wife and family and dear friends, I thank those who did not support me because I will work for you also.
However when all is said and done I thank my Father in Heaven who gave me the gift of His Son for my greatest gift, the ability to love my fellow men and women and their children. God Bless You All!!!!
Whoever wrote that about Gene Leffel is nuts! Gene has given a lot to Commerce City. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Completely discount this person and the remarks.
We agree with you, Natale. Thank God for term limits!
What is wrong with the picture on the front page? Almost everyone on the present Council was there to congradulate the new Councilmembers. Isnt that the way we should treat each other? I mean turning on your own at the last minute like the current Mayor did throwing everyone under the bus with the limo story and then B Maas from channel 4 was just uncalled for.
Hope that the future Council works better together.
I would like to know who was watching the outgoing Councilmembers backs? Why did the Mayor decide to throw them under the bus and bad mouth them in the last hours? Its pretty sad.
Just read a great, going out of office, article about Natale.
@ thebrightonblade.com
Interesting & insightful, kinda made me understand him a bit better.
The students of Adsms 14 want to thank the voters for giving us Hope!!!! We believe David and Marry will work well with Adrian, Larry and Robert. We know the school board never gets a big thank you. Well here it is
THANK YOU BOE. We love you.
nice beacon took down the leffel comment. too bad there are still two more comments in their site that are still up.
hopefully those will be taken down too.
God Bless you LARRY!
You have a great task ahead of you. The kids are our future.
I am going to sleep very well knowing your are representing them.
Congratulations Mr. Quintana. Hope the tension in the room every board meeting can now finally decrease.
I hope that even if you all disagree and you will at time, at least you will be able to listen to each other and work together.
Something this district has not had in many years.
Gee maybe not all were invited to the "celebration" event pictured on the 1st page of Gateway.
Maybe some were invited didn't care to go, or have other plans.
Lots of possiblities.
Watching their backs has always and will always be a CC standard.
You can trust no one!
I'm encouraged about Commerce City! It looks like the city council will all be working together! A new day for sure.
Why is Commerce City Council plus staff totaling 14 people spending $11,000.00 to go to CML?
http://denver.cbslocal.com/video/?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=6399423
11 grand for 4 days? Wow and I thought we were past these days.
Guess they lied to us.
Referencing the trip.
I'd like to know, who went, and who spent what.
Seems way to much to me.
Gateway,
Since you pride yourselves in "investagetive reporting"
Please check on the travel problems in Brighton.
Also heard Brighton city mngr had city employees put a Fireplace in his office, seems a bit much. Please look in to this.
Also, is everyone in Adams county government, out for themselves.
The lawsuit against the past coroner, cost the tax payers about $500,00 not covered by insurance.
Did Ford have anything to do with that kind of spending ($11,000 for 4 days)? It sounds like some pre-election planning???? I guess we'll need to get used to it AGAIN!
Election is over. Pick up the signs!
lots of political signs out. you need to pick them up. not put "thank you" on them.
we do have a sign ordinance in cc!
GN,
Can you get a breakdown on the 11 grand spent in the mt town for CML?
Also which staff went or who else was it. since we only have 9 council members and the tax payers paid for 14.
Very concerning.
I'll second that Wes! I would like to see the breakdown too.
Why is only one of the Leffel comments flagged on the Beacon but this one is not:
By mator89: "Thank God Gene Leffel was not voted in!!! Thank you so much to everyone who voted against him. This is THE MOST sexist man I've ever met in my life. I worked with Gene at a previous job and he considered all women "breeders". This man should never be given power. He will run every year. Please do not vote for him. You will only be harming yourselves and your loved ones."
Jerry,
You sure you want to go to HRCA?
http://dpo.st/rN9Tj2
Looks like you would have less headaches here in Commerce City.
The city manager in Brighton deserves much more than a "fireplace" in his office. Brighton is growing with sustainable growth, and the city manager in Brighton does not waste money, especially on an out of control lifestyle at the taxpayer's expense like the Commerce City manager Flannery has always done. The Brighton city manager bought his own house, pays his own taxes and insurance on it, does not have the largest car allowance in the state of Colorado and is found at his desk working every day, not hanging out in the cigar bar at the Brown Palace Hotel. Not only should Manuel Escobel have a fireplace, he should be given a raise and a statue in front of the new city hall that he negotiated to buy for a great price. Kudos to Brighton for building a great city and shame on Commerce City for being so ignorant all the way around.
Will Paul Natale quit blogging now that he is no longer anybody? Hope he moves out of Commerce City and out of Adams County. By the way Natale is who made the Gateway blog the "trashy blog". He said it in open meetings. Shows just how professional he is not and how over the top emotional he is. Not a class act more like a class bully. Good bye Natale, we will not miss you.

I'd like to know about Brighton too. Since this blog is suppose to cover both.
I want to know about the city mgr's fireplace and their travel issues.
I was told by someone on the know, that they have people who include their families on trips and dinners (not just spouse) that the city pays for.
It really is time for Adams county to clean up.
We will be watching ALL of you!
CML will be an interesting story.Ask who arrived early and who stayed late on the city's dime
For Pete's sake! How could Ford have had anything to do with what council spent on CML for this year?!? Not possible at all. Also, the picture was taken at Sean Ford's election party. It was a very nice event and lots and lots of people just came over to watch the results come in and then lots more came by to congratulate him when he won. People were there who supported all sorts of other candidates, but all wanted to congratulate Sean. I thought it was great that all these people from so many different circles were thinking about working together. What a refreshing idea.
Obviously those who showed up to Sean Ford's election night party came to support or congratulate him. This isn't Jr. High, it was open to everyone who wanted to be there. Judging from the number of people who came during the course of the evening, I'd say that Mayor Ford has huge support.
Oh great. Just what we wanted, another speech by Natale.
I hope the Natale speech is just a nice goodbye one, not a one last stab at everyone.
Dustin,
I have a Paul Natale sign if you want it. Where should I drop it off at?
Belle Creek Observer,
Your Natale sign, is it for mayor or at-large?
what a great night last night was.
Good to see all the support for the out going mayor and council.
Good Luck to all in their next endeavors.
It was nice to see another side of David Foster during the council meeting yesterday.
Looks like next battle will be between Tracey and Dominick for Colorado House District 32.
Mayor may be done at the city level. But I think he is still on some boards.
I agree with Zieler. I would love to see him run in four years for mayor!
I just love the hypocrisy of some of the writers here.
People scream transparency and "don't waste my tax money".
Yet people ignore when money is wasted or things being done illegally, if, they support that person.
How do you think the elected in Adams' county got where they are, because of ideas just like this.
So wrong things done by "right people" ie (your friends) is okay.
Who ever said Brightons mgr deserves the wasted money is a perfect example.
We want to say a great big THANK YOU to Mayor Pro Tem Tracey Snyder! Last night she was, as she always is, a picture of class and grace! You will be missed on Council, but you wont be too far away-at the State House where you belong!
How sweet was that last night at the Council meeting when that darling little guy ran all the way up to the dias to jump into the arms of Tracey Snyder? That just shows that she is a hero to everyone, big and small! Go get em Tracey- you will do great at the State House!
A great historical event happened last evening at the Commerce City counsel meeting. This was that the self attendance record of Gene Leffel came to an end.Why would he choose to end it could be anyones guess. He sure wont be missed. Good bye Gene hope not to see you soon.
So, Natale gave himself a big, expensive going away party? Okay, now go away.
I for one am really glad that Mr Paul Natale will still be on some boards. He is a really good leader. The problem he had in Commerce City was more the people (especially some council) around him.
One thing that should be addressed. I hope the new council has enough class to invite Mr. Natale to some the events that his council started.
Some examples include the kings opening and the URA development of the Dog track, such as the opening of the Boys and Girls Club when that finally happens.
Congrats to Lynn Baca!
I think with Lynn Baca winning in Brighton that Commerce City and Brighton might have some kind of a relationship maybe for the first time in history.
The Commerce City Housing Authority making some great moves.
Love how CC is taking control of its own destiny.
Now lets get the water department under the cities control and really move forward.
still a bit early for talk about Commerce City taking over the South Adams Water.
Need about 5 more years.
six days have past and those bad Gene Leffel comments that are unfounded are still on the Commerce City Beacon Website.
Curious why they are allowing those to be in the public.
Seems to me, personally that the decent thing the Commerce City Beacon should do is take them down.
A cautionary tale about having David Foster on any committee. http://www.9news.com/news/article/228935/339/Jeffco-emails-admit-unnecessary-spending-
RRR in CCC: You're really not serious, right?
Someone wrote that Mayor Paul Natale Gave himself a big expensive going away party.
That makes it sound like the party was for him alone.
The so called party was held in the main hall at the civic center and from what we saw it was attended by all of City Counsel along with numerous City Staff and City Citizens who congratulated not only Paul but all of the outgoing counsel members.
This is something that is has been done in the past when counsel people leave office.
Just where is it that Paul is going?
Undoubtedly he will be doing something that will be a benefit to Commerce City.
Watch and see. Bob & Nance Zeiler
One word comes to mind reading Natale's tweets: narcissistic. Gateway, will you please remove this nonsense from your site?
The water dist. will never belong to the city. A good thing.
The Mayor council members who will be sworn in on Monday night will begin moving this city forward asap. Can't wait for all the good stuff coming up.
If I have to follow one more semi down HW2 on my way to work, I'm going to freak out.
If Commerce City expects growth in the norther range, than there needs to be the proper infrastructure to support it. King Soopers, alone, is going to require its fair share of trucks with deliveries.
HW2 and Tower need a couple more lanes. This is really something. If I was contemplating bringing business here, I would laugh it off.
While I'm ranting, can we please hire a real company to finish the repairs on 104th? That looked like a week's worth of work.
Can somebody give me an email address that I can vent on?
Hey, new mayor, get to work and stop looking like a bum every time I see your picture. Clean it up and carry yourself like a leader.
You know, the longer I live here on the northern range, the less I want the wingnuts of Commerce City spending my tax dollars.
Seriously here, has anyone thought about breaking the northern range off to be its own city? You have my vote.
I dont care what happens to be on the beacon site. Gene has been a good citizens in that he knows more then anyone else is the city.
He is going to make a good council member.
It is only a matter of time.
response to "The water dist. will never belong to the city. A good thing."
I disagree. Own the water, you control the growth and have even more control of your destiny.
I say CC needs to take control of the water ASAP.
It really just makes sense to me.
I highly doubt the "party" was expensive. City own its a restaurant.
Cost was almost nothing I am sure.
Problem with City owning and controlling the water district is that I am afraid the money collected for water will not be spent on water.
City will just use it as a big cash cow.
I like it separate.
Absolutely love the little jabs mayor natalie does to GN.
I am going to miss all the drama when he is gone.
dkeys@mail.com
I like the having South Adams different from city. I do with they would have decided to move their building into Derby.
Denver POST: Judge rules in favor of Democratic map in Colorado redistricting... "Moreno Map" (Dominick Moreno of CC) http://tinyurl.com/7lgjdos
congratulation to House District 32 candidate and Council Member Dom Moreno.
Will represent us well in CO house!
Mayoral Candidate Robert Toavs reports he will run for Mayor in four years, Toavs plans to apply to city boards as a start.
I know Gene in Commerce City.
The comments on the Commerce City Beacon are not true about him and are completely uncharacteristic.
Break away from commerce city and do what?
own city? news flash, not enough revenue!
part of Brighton? first of all it would take more then a decade, commerce city would never let that happen, maybe Brighton does not want us.
No, we are commerce city and we have to just accept it and work together!
Not enough revenue? Not enough roof tops to be our own city? Count 'em and include the areas zoned for industrial and commercial. Small city, small government. It's all relative.
I think Toavs watches too many movies. He's not cut out for the Mayor spot. He doesn't have a clue about government. The record doesn't help, either.

dkeys, no doubt there will be drama, just differnet players. Of course you won't have Natale to jab, so you'll either have to shut up or find a new thorn for your side.
I am interested on how this new council is going to act.
Should be interesting to say the least.
I think I can see some the the personalities clashing.
Remember Jim Benson is still there.
It is great the Robert is getting involved in the Boards and Commissions at the city.
He will make a great mayor someday.
No Ike,
He will not.
Talked to Tracey Today. Will be a great rep for us in 2012 House 32!
I dont think I will be sending any congradulations to Dominick Moreno for the new district map anytime soon! While Mr. Moreno is, as always, completely slanted in one direction, Tracey Snyder will work for ALL of the people of our City! That is what we all need! Thank goodness we will finally have someone in the State House that will have our best interest in mind and not just his own!
Attn: Reunion home owners
If anyone is interested in a dog park in Reunion, please send e-mails to our Metropolitan District expressing interest.
You can make a sure bet (100% guaranteed) Just bet that the City Counsel members personal spending will increase in the near future and most of this will be by the Mayor pro-ten yet to be named.
New mayor and council in Commerce City tonight!
I see Jim Benson running for mayor in four years against Sean Ford.
Still can't beleive he won by that many votes.
Really sends a message to Paul Natale.
GN,
Now that Natale is going to be finally gone after tonight, can you take down his stupid twitter.
For far too long Commerce City has been "run" by the city staff.
It is now time for the city council to run the city by giving direction to the staff with their advice. Key word is advice.
Too long the council, maybe because they were not as strong, let the staff run the city.
Change is coming and it will be good.
So how are you going to measure if Ford is doing a good job or not?
Retail? City Image? How?
I know I for one will be watching very carefully and will call out anything I see out of place.
new CM should be local talent.
I think there might be some around. It is a big state that is highly educated.
No reason to get another desert lobbyist with no background in finance.
congrats to Dom! Mayor PROTEM!
bye jerry! have fun at the ranch!
b-bye, b-bye
Amazing meeting tonight in Commerce City.
It is like new life!
Nice stress free environment!
Moreno as pro tem?
Odd, but I think it will be good.
I thought is would have been Rene.
gn,
any word on who the next cc cm will be?
I sure was wrong about who I thought would be named Mayor Pro-ten. I am still in shock. And to think that when I said Counsel spending would increase and most of it by
Mayor Pro-ten . I guess I'll have to hide my head and not write any more bad about any Counsel Person.
So it seems that an interim city manager needs council approval for all hires and fires. So citizens of Commerce City, you, thru your new mayor and council really will have a voice FINALLY! Better days ahead for Commmerce City starting tonight. Oh ya!
If RRR in CCC is Paul Natale, why are you still writing on the trashy blog???
Happy, packed house at Commerce City tonight with congrats all around. Mayor Ford did a nice job selecting Dominick Moreno for Mayor Pro-Tem. These guys (and ladies) look like they are serious about moving the city forward. It was a refreshing night. Natale ungracious to the end.
RRR in CCC: Hey buddy, you need to get a life.
Goes to show you can not trust some on the old council. I was told that Sean was going to pick his old mayor protem Rene. He picked Dominick instead.
I am very surprised.
Ward Two Jim Benson taking the lead by that much tells me that many do not like Paul Natalie.
Diaz not getting in at all tells me voters did not like the old city councils decisions.
Hey RRR!
How do you sum up Natale's tenure?
Retail?
How others (cities) receive us?
The fact that Rev. every year the entire time Natale was on as mayor and expenditures were up every year?
Moreno will be a good pro-tem. He will not just fall in line. He will challenge Ford if and when the Sh*t hits the fan.
oh dearest wes,
rev. was up the last year. Yes I know you are going to come back and say it was because of the one time suncor settlement. but none the less they were up.
just keeping you honest.
I really hope that when Dominic takes off to the Colorado House and we have to appoint a person. GENE LEFFEL is the one chosen. He knows more about this city then ANYONE up there.
He knows a lot more about this city the Steve and Crystal do.
Why is this not bigger news?
"So it seems that an interim city manager needs council approval for all hires and fires. So citizens of Commerce City, you, thru your new mayor and council really will have a voice FINALLY! Better days ahead for Commmerce City starting tonight. Oh ya!"
I know all of these waste of time Chinese trips that Commerce City made were supposedly paid from other sources and not city funds. I would like to know were the money really came from. If it was from other funds, was it eventually passed onto the tax payers.
Everyone who went on these trips has left the city.
Can't understand why Beacon still has the comments about Leffel on their websites.
"thank god Leffel
Thank God Gene Leffel was not voted in!!! Thank you so much to everyone who voted against him. This is THE MOST sexist man I've ever met in my life. I worked with Gene at a previous job and he considered all women "breeders". This man should never be given power. He will run every year. Please do not vote for him. You will only be harming yourselves and your loved ones.

So our brand new Mayor Pro Tem makes the news on the first day of his new office. Was it for something good for our City? No, it was for being appointed to the Gay and Lesbian group of NLC! That does nothing to forward Commerce City in any way. Dont get me wrong, people have a right to do and be whatever they want. I am not speaking against the choice of lifestyle. However we are talking about the elected officials we send to the State House to represent us. The people of Commerce City need to stop and take a minute to look at what is going on. Jessie Ulibarri, a relative unknown, is running for our Senate seat, openly gay. Now Dominick is coming out in a big way- so does anyone see that maybe the agenda that may be pushed may not be about what is best for our City? The article is all about this agenda, and Mr. Moreno is all over it. Think about this people. We need to make another choice for our City. Read the article everyone- Denver and the West section of the Post today.
Thank you Mayor Pro Tem Snyder for the moment of silence for the Hamilton family. You stand behind your friends and your family, thats the kind of person you are.
Congradulations to Tracey Snyder for getting the endorsement of the Colorado Motor Carriers Association! With 78 trucking industries right here in Commerce City that is a huge endorsement for you! Great job!!
PLEASE stop Natale's news feed!!
Denver POST: Colorado gay officials seeing more-tolerant attitudes... http://tinyurl.com/6mhdpev
I second it! take down Natalies stupid news feed.
He is irrelevant.
Did nothing for us.
Flanneray, Natalie and all there stupid council hand cuffing polices can leave town and never come back!
I read the article about the Gay and Lebs. with Mr. Moreno.
I kinda always thought, but never really knew.
Article does not really say he is or isn't gay.
I know it should not matter.
I think people are just naturally curious.
The fact if someone is gay or not should not have any place in politics.
I personally never understood why such "boards" that cater to lifestyles even exist.
Dont ever see a board of SMW "Straight Men and Women"
GOOD FOR COUNCIL MEMBER MORENO!
"Dominick Moreno, a Commerce City councilman, was elected as an at-large member of the GLBTLO board."
What does this board do?
I have no problem with any of my council members who represent me being gay.
As long as they cut spending, increase the city's revenue streams via new and growing businesses and take a long and hard look at our top heavy city staff.
That is my 2 cents
being elected as an at-large member of the GLBTLO board pretty much says that you yourself are gay?
I don't know, but agree people are curious by nature.
Maybe GN can come out and just ask Dominic?
GLBT is not a chosen lifestyle. A persons' genes determine their sexual orientation.
The political performance and not the sexual orientation should be the issue.
So far Moreno has should good sense, getting rid of the elected official retirement fund.
Moreno was not part of the deal breaker council.
Moreno is not afraid of taking on Benson.
Moreno will make a good pro-tem.
These are the facts and this is what will propel Moreno into CO-HD-32!
Wonder how Tracey Snyder as a Republican/New Democrat feels about her house opponent coming out in the Denver Post.
No where in the article does in say Moreno is gay.
Is this the group that Dominick Moreno is the at-large member of?
http://www.glbtcolorado.org/default.aspx
I don't care if Dominick is straight or not.
He NEEDS to keep his promise to the citizens of Commerce City and fulfill his entire 4 year term as our Ward ONE council member.
He does not NEED to jump ship half-way thru.
Whoever (maybe Ed Casso) told him to do this, gave him WRONG advice.
Dominick is young and most likely does mean well. And maybe someday would make a good state rep.
But it is NOT a time trail race. He needs to slow down.
The House seat is not going anywhere.
By jumping out of Commerce City so fast only gives the impression that he wants out to bigger and better things.
Image and perception is everything (words of Paul Natale) and his is not a good one for him.
I would agree that especially now, since he is Mayor Pro Tem, Dominick Moreno needs to stay on Council. You dont just cut and run on your responsibility to the people that elected you!
As for being gay, I just hope that he keeps his attention where it needs to be, and that is right where he is!
Wow, so the truth about Dominick finally comes out. Most of us knew anyway.
Stay where you are Dominick, the House will always be there. I agree that you should finally stop listening to Ed Casso, whos problem with Tracey Snyder is personal, not professional (heaven knows he has shown us that on numerous occassions!)and do what is right. Stand by Mayor Ford and do your job.
I share in your congrats to Tracey Snyder for getting the Colorado Motor Carrier's endorsement! She stands strong for the trucking industry, and has worked for United Van Lines for over 12 years. She understands the business, and that is why she was endorsed! Great job Tracey!
I spoke to Ms. Snyder today about her thoughts on the newly out Dominick Moreno. Her only comment was that she thought that he should stay and serve out his term. Just goes to show you that even when she has a chance to throw a little mud around, she doesnt take the shot. Perhaps Ed Casso could learn a little class from her!
The interim CM has always been limited on hiring and firing.
That was the case for Greg when he was the fill in also.
Not news!
Mayor and Mayor Pro-tem are a very odd couple.
Could not be any more different.
This is the organization that Moreno is an at-large member of.
http://www.nlc.org/build-skills-networks/networks/constituency-groups/glbtlo
face it, moreno was voted in by those with illegal family members to work for the south's illegal immigrant community. ford was only going to choose a south resident for mayor fill-in and the only choices were bullock or moreno. had he choose bullock there would have been an uproar because of the nascar issue. moreno is the only way to bring in more voters in the south to counter the northern growth.
ford's agenda is not for the benefit of the entire city and we need to watch council very closely.
don't think moreno acts very mescaline and if he prefers men, who cares....I care if he's loyal to U.S citizens or citizens of mexico that sneaked into our country.
GLBTLO (pronounced "glibt-low")
they can't be serious!!!!!!!
http://www.nlc.org/build-skills-networks/networks/constituency-groups/glbtlo
then go to membership brochure. explains it is for GBLT officials.
I think that solves the mystery.
My question is if Commerce City tax payer money is being spent for the $75 membership fee.
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Local Officials (GLBTLO)
-domestic partnership policies and legislation?
I disagree with this one.
I would be interested in what GLBT issue Commerce City has?
Do we have any issues?
I am open minded, I would like to know what they are.
