Anonymous said...

what will it hurt if you let them talk tonight.

Irene said...

YES to citizen input! Let the Pit Bull supporters speak

Jean said...

Orval is right on, Citizen should be involved more.

Anonymous said...

I am shocked that they are not going to allow the citizens to speak

Anonymous said...

I agree with Orval, let them talk!

Anonymous said...

Not fair. Why can't citizens speak

Yuri said...

whats not fair is not allowing all the citizens to have a voice in this matter.

I am glad the Police Department gets to talk should be interesting.

Hyde said...

Are you saying we would be DENVER! if not Commerce City?

SUSAN said...

wasn't the the Pit Bull Ban because of a Commerce City Citizen?

Marcus said...

historically society? lets get a chamber of commerce first!

Well, it looks like a vote for Douglass equates to a vote for Bullock. Too bad, I thought Steve would have his own thoughts and opinions you lost my support.

Betrayed in Commerce City

they treat Pit Bulls like sex offenders.

so people the pit bull issue is back, we need to unite and go to council as an organized group. we will try to see if the gateway news will put something in their paper next week so we can all go to city council and speak as to how we feel about the current pit bull law in commerce city, keep it or get rid of it.i do not want to live by pit bulls bottom line for me.

the anti pit bull people were told not to come to council tonight as we would not be able to talk as the item about pit bulls was on the agenda, so pit bull people, learn to follow the rules, but maybe you dont think rules apply to you

Anonymous said...

i would rather live with a sex offender than with a pit bull

Terra said...

I would say that I have to agree that the Pit Bull Ban should be look at a more strong vicious dog law. Not a Breed Specific Legislation.

NO BSL!

Terra, Commerce City

Anonymous said...

only thirteen pit bulls left in commerce city
then what, what is the next breed that you ban?
maybe your dog!

Ryland said...

I think everyone was caught off guard here.

I do not think the council has the idea of changing the ban, but rather a plan and discussion of what to do with pit bulls in the area that are not registered.

CCBPA reports they will be hosting Candidates' Forum for Commerce City Council candidates. Wednesday - 6/30 Werth Manor Event Center 6:00 pm

Yuri,
I think you are so right!
I want an accountablity for the monies they just conned out of the city.
If not, then we should create other "clubs" supporting other bogus ideas, to get money that we can use to recall any of the dopes that get on council.

Bob Zeiler said...

yuri
Can this group really use this monies for other purposes than what it was intended for? I am not smart enough to know.Anybody help me to underestand this.
Bob Zeiler

Yuri said...

Unless I am wrong, there was no conditions on how they can spend the money. I just echo the mayor, I hope they continue on a positive path.
Yuri

curious in reunion said...

I would ask, why was the group formed in the first place? Was URCC formed to be a historical society in the beginning? Or did it morph into one?
Why did mayor say such a statement?

We get the Walmart and the rest of the development including new other grocery stores will follow!
That is just the way it is!

Disappointed Citizen said...

I am disappointed that the Commerce City Council did not allow the citizens who came to the last city council meeting to voice our opinions of the pit bull ban.

This is exactly what was on the agenda: Pit Bull Ordinance and Vicious Animal Discussion

We should have been able to voice our opinions.

I have concerns with the report given to the council and public by the latest consultants.

I do not remember the exact numbers given, but I would urge the consultant to compare the statistics to the Corona report prepared for the city of Commerce City.

So can we all just yell out POINT OF ORDER from now on?

How FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you watch, we get walmart in 2011ish and the rest will follow, sad but true, safeway and kings will follow walmart, why? because they will lose business from brighton and denver locations. it is all about the bottomline, money rules everything they do.

just watch and see!

Hyde said...

dusty, what were your questions to ccbpa?

Dustie, Gateway News said...

You will have to go to the forum and find out.

Of course you will not hear all of them, time permitting.

I will publish them after the forum.

I don't get it! Why can't local channel 8 be used for what it is supposed to be used for. I read the channel 8 article, I can't understand why we can't have more local information on it?

Whole city information, not one school district that has nothing to do with us in the other half of the city.

Gateway,
name of the pont was spotty not spots, you have spots on your video title.

Gateway News said...

Thank you, I will change it.

Interesting revision of the horse story. The developer was going to put in paired homes, not high rises on what is currently Pioneer Park. That was the plan that went before council, where they voted it down without legal justification. Rather than letting the city get sued, council voted to purchase the property. The park is a better use of the property but the purchase also saved Commerce City from another lawsuit.

Irene said...

just goes to show you, people will twist history to make it fit them. I thought high-rise didn't sound right.

GOOD JOB JIM! Get those citizens involved now in building code proposal, so then they can't complain about it later. Seriously, smart guy, at least for tonight.

Looks like Commerce City could stay with the 2003 codes forever. Not a good idea, we need to move forward to the 2009 codes.

In this upcoming election for City Council members, the decisions we make as voters will change City Council for the next four to eight years, if, we so choose.

There are as many new faces as old faces that want the opportunity to guide Commerce City into our next phase of building another city in our Northern Range Area. The first new part of the city in about fifty years of this city's history. What qualities will Council members need for these next years to put Commerce City where it needs to be economically in 2035?

We need men and women on City Council that look and consider impartially every side of an issue. Not, just what their business friends or Cronies want them to vote on. So, for our candidates the fewer ties to the old way of doing things, the better. There are some candidates that are outspoken for certain groups of people and they will dedicate everything they do for them 100%. There are some candidates that belong and have served on so many groups and organizations one wonders how they will disentangle themselves, mentally and emotionally. We need City Council members that truly understand the economics of the time and that have a heart for children, all of Commerce City's children. Not just one sector of the community. We need City Council members that are not looking to build a reputation or name for themselves and/or their families. We need humble, good people that will represent the entire community.

Did you attend the Candidates Forum on Wednesday night, September 30th? Did you get your questions answered? Did you listen with an open mind? Did you compare the candidate’s views with your views?

If you did not attend, what was your reason? If you did attend, you are almost ready to cast your vote. May I suggest you have one last thing to do before you actually vote: Call each candidate and talk to him/her personally to get your questions answered. Then Vote! This is your community, your city, your government. Be responsible! Vote intelligently!

will the 2009 building code cover carbon monoxide enforcement?

I would ad one thing to the Jarmillos suggestion.
Do a little searching, find out if what the candidates say, represents what they really do.

Ordinance 1793 on council agenda for Monday night increases council total compensation. The City paying for council's health insurance is certainly a huge new benefit. Will it apply to current council or to the council as seated following the election?
